You don't take more damage overall.

The damage taken is relative to post-mitigation, so the true damage you take is exactly what you would have taken had you not bought Death's Dance.

Death's Dance is not a damage reduction item. Its an item that delays the damage you take so you have time to sustain through it.

Where do you see that it's True Damage?

It is true damage, but its relative to the post-mitigation physical/magic damage you take, so you aren't taking any additional, or any less, damage than you would have without Death's Dance. It simply delays 15% over 3 seconds.

No; It calculated everything after resistances, then ticks that for you in True Damage.

Let's say that an attack would have done 100 damage. You have the resistances to nullify 20% of it, so it ends up doing 80 damage. Death's Dance takes this into account, and makes you only take 68 damage. Over the course of a few seconds, you'll take 12 True Damage; you still take the 80 damage you would have took, but over time. Nothing can reduce that damage; you WILL take it.

what about % damage reduction abilities? will it take those into account before it calculates the damage youre taking?

Base damage taken -> % resist (armor/mr) damage reduction -> % total damage reduction (PD, Tabi, Garen, etc) -> flat damage reduction -> received value for Death's Dance multiplied by .15 -> mitigation/true damage DoT value.

True damage cannot be reduced by Death's Dance, as it specifies Physical/Magic damage exclusively, due to the passive dealing true damage to you, and also due to true damage never being mitigated/increased in any case that wasn't missed by Riot.

Unique: Stores 15% of all physical and magic damage received, and is taken as a damage over time instead, dealing one-third of the stored damage every second.

This says nothing about you taking more damage than what you received, or that it's true damage.

EDIT: Woonstruck has it just above.

is true damage even delayed?

it actually shouldnt work on death dances passive, since it cant be mitigated.

TBH, it makes sense both ways. True damage not being adjusted at all, or it working because you're still taking that damage. It all depends on how they want true damage to be defined.

However, the passive only states physical/magic damage, so its unlikely that it affects true damage, as that would make it mitigate itself as well, most likely.

Khazix has been riding the powerhouse to hell and back, and I personally feel Aatrox utilizes it well. Niche but has its fit. Anyone that has a decent Physical damage ability/utility spell, they can reap the rewards of deaths dance

deaths dance is good for casters like riven or urgot
