Why do ADCs, the hardest carry class, have the cheapest itemization that outperforms all others.

Keep in mind that ADCs will often have 3 or 4 of these items at endgame. Sometimes even 5 if they sell boots.

Why is their itemization so much cheaper than other classes outside of support?

Why do they get to hit full build so much easier than other classes, while also being the best at full build?

Just how biased do you have to be to actually think your post makes any sense? You are making a brainless ADC witchhunt. Everyone with half a brain can see that you just picked the cheapest items while you ignore all the other ADC core items that are among the most expensive items in the game. lul

WoonStruck17 votes

Considering most adcs only build 1-2 of those...

Remember that they don't usually buy lifesteal anymore due to ardent.

Even if you really want to include those items, when there's generally only one, that's still only ~12k total for 4 items. 15k for full build.

Meanwhile other classes have item 3153 item 3003 item 3102 item 3812 item 3022 item 3030 item 3124 item 3146 item 3100 item 3151 item 3156 item 3285 item 3115item 3089 item 3074 item 3072 item 3071 item 3748 item 3078 All costing 3k or more.

Every tank item is pretty much 2.9k.

Only support items, Morello's, and RoA rival ADC item efficiency,

That means ~17k for AP carries. About the same for bruisers/divers.

TyrekGoldenspear8 votes

K hold on.

Usually don't buy lifesteal anymore due to ardent.

Two things.

  1. Ardent is losing the hp drain on hit.

  2. In no universe does a 25 hp drain replace lifesteal. Especially lategame.

WoonStruck8 votes

Innate lifesteal from masteries. Warlord's. Sitting on D-blade until you have to sell it.

Considering the safety of the class, paired with the current enchanter supports, lifesteal actually is not picked up all that often in plat+ games.

The removal of the on-hit healing will cause more people to purchase lifesteal, but in no way will that reign in the class. Most will still not be buying lifesteal on Tristana and such.

TyrekGoldenspear6 votes

And because the onhit healing is being removed literally next patch, the dynamics of bot lane itemization is changing rather soon.

Also I am fairly certain lifesteal never "reigned" in the class so to speak, at least not recently. Considering most lifesteal is based on damage dealt, it makes more sense to buy damage first then then get lifesteal and other survivability items later.

Blåbæret6 votes

ADCs don't need to build life steal anymore with Warlord's easily healing 30-40% of their health in one hit.

Skorch4 votes

But warlords has downtime... Lifesteal doesnt.

Zëd Lęppelin5 votes

(item 3094) It has like 1-3s of downtime on an adc that's kiting well.

Leaf on Bush2 votes

30-40% of their health in one hit? Are you trolling?

It heals for a maximum of 40% AD @lv18 (x2 or x2,5 with crit)... so basically you would need as much AD as you have HP or at least half of that for the crits to heal 40% of your health in one hit. Now I really want to see you achieve that while building only the cheapest ADC items and NO additional lifesteal.

PS: Literally took the time to prove how this amount of healing isn't possible without building lifesteal (one of the expensive items ..you know?) and still getting down voted by ignorant board terrorists. Some people here really shit on any kind of reason.

WoonStruck1 votes

200 if you crit with 200 AD w/IE. Plus 25 from ardent. Plus 5% (dblade+mastery) of 500, which is 25. Plus 20 from Feast. That's 270 right there. Then you have Plus another 22 from runic armor or whatever. 292.

Nearly 300, and that's not even counting other factors that I've probably forgotten about. I know many high MMR ADC players use one lifesteal quint as well.

Not only that, but the RFC+Shiv interaction where they speed up charging...also applies to warlord's bloodlust...so your 'energized' is now 3x as fast.

Automated Riven3 votes

270 is about 15% of an adc's late game health. Kill denied is correct in this instance.

WoonStruck2 votes

I wasn't even going all the way. But fine, I'll go all the way.

Twitch at 18 has 96.5 AD. 40 for ult, 40 for GA, 70 for IE, 50 for LW upgrade. That's 321.5 with runes and masteries added in.

321.5 x 2.5 = 804 damage. 804 x 1.05 (masteries) x 1.2 (LDR) = 1013. 2% of that is 20.

321.5 (AD x 2.5 x .4) + 20 (feast) +20 (2% lifesteal) + 75 ( x3 ardent from runaan's)= 437 x 1.08 (runic armor) = 472

That's about 25% of Twitch's HP at 18. You do have armor to factor into the 20 from lifesteal, but there's also 3 targets from runaan's, so we'll keep it at 20, since its such a variable circumstance.

That's getting pretty close to 30%.

I very highly doubt he actually measured how much he saw. He likely saw a twitch at 1/4 HP or something and saw him heal a huge chunk of his HP.

That's pretty damn close to his estimation. He was probably heavily exaggerating, but a situation VERY close to what he claims is actually possible without any purchased lifesteal.

Automated Riven2 votes

I mean. That's a whole bunch of non warlords shit to throw on to argue about warlords. In that senario warlords heals for 321. Which is right around 18% of twitches late game health. Adding a bunch of other healing from other sources doesn't mean that the statement is correct.

GayFluffyUnicorn4 votes

Nothing will change. Ardent actually gets buffed. MORE AS and more damage on this fucking retarded item. The only difference will be adcs will now buy a vamp scepter inbetween to get the 20 on hit lifesteal back while getting way more DPS out of it. Riot is literally buffing this item and nothign will change it will make adcs just even stronger. This item is so absolutely retarded it needs to get removed ASAP.

Snowplosion3 votes

Luden's, GLP, Gunblade, Nashor's Tooth, Lich Bane, Liandry's, Banshee's Veil, and Archangel's are cheaper than their AD counterparts...

ProfDrDeath32 votes

Well, he is not totally off - the currently most common 3-item spike costs only 8600 gold, compared to 8800+ for mages and assassins.

Choclatz2 votes

Most adcs don't go IE into double zeal items, you're picking Twitch and Tristana to describe everything.

ProfDrDeath7 votes

Oh, do I? What about:

Ashe : Best item builds are item 3031 / item 3153 / item 3508 into two Zeal Upgrades Caitlyn : IE into 2 Zeal upgrades Jinx : see above Vayne : see above

You listed 4 more, go ahead and go through the other 10 that don't go double zeal items.

Don't say you're only looking at meta champions either, because nothing you listed is meta.

Why are you trying to apply logic to this? Tilt posts aren't affected by that.

Teridax6818 votes

It may not have been the best move for the OP to just list the cheapest marksman items around, but what you're listing only constitutes a smaller portion of marksman builds, and even then itemization is still cheaper than for, say, AP champions. On one hand, the most expensive item in the game right now is Rabadon's Deathcap, when previously it was IE that had that price, and on top of that most AP items are around the 3k gold price mark. By contrast, even if you were to take Infinity Edge and Bloodthirster at the same time, their higher price gets countered by the immense cheapness of Zeal items.

Skins Project1 votes

XP disadvantage tho.

Teridax685 votes

Marksmen have historically always been both balanced and designed around being relatively level-independent, as they were instead required to farm more than any other champions. With the current state of marksman itemization, farming more than any other champion means reaching full build consistently before other champions, which is one of the reasons why marksmen are spiking so early nowadays.

Kloqdq9 votes

They are item and gold dependent, not XP dependent.

Usually only need one of those. So he's right.

Typical Twitch players don't buy mercurial though. Also in case you didn't realize, 1 HYPER CARRY, melting teams costing roughly the same as a burst mage who can get 1-3 targets at MOST (factoring in if shes stupidly ahead) is an issue.

Leaf on Bush3 votes

So you think Syndra should have the same dps as a Twitch while also being able to stun? What would you say if we gave Twitch a stun on his W?

You act like you barely learned the game and like you are still discovering the most simple aspects. The niveau of this discussion is so low and you continue to keep it down by bringing more useless arguments.

And once again NA upvotes the biggest shit.

A situational stun on a cd vs. Autoing the entire enemy team

Leaf on Bush2 votes

I am not gonna start explaining the impact of stuns when 2 opposing sides are trading damage. This is a waste of time, its so obvious, if you can't figure this out yourself it's because you don't want to.

I make a reply and then the next random dude jumps in making another completely ignorant and useless comment. It's impossible to have a serious discussion on these boards. lul

ninjaroxas5 votes

With people like you ya. Funny how people who complain about Boards not haveing a serious discussion are the one that don't try to have one, in fact all of your comments are you just insulting everyone. A situational stun with a obvious set up that has a long cd and is easy to dodge. Yet you treat it like a point and click skill with a 5 second cd

you can easily make a build with IE being the only expensive item. e.g: IE-boots-PD-Shiv-ga-ldr. there ya go, one item that's over 3k gold. much expensive

Apc itemization is more expensive while having weaker late than ADC.

and they take 1 item to be useful early while an adc takes 3 or more, your point?

Ahris1 votes

Not true. Aurelion needs 3 completed item to function(tier 2 boots, rylais, glp). Also ADC can very well function with blade of ruined king.

blade of the ruined king is 3400 gold friend, not 2600. And aurelion does fine with just a glp, I know because I'm mastery 7 and mained him before. and I guess every mage is now aurelion even if that were true?

Kotanni9 votes

Assassins item 3147 2900 item 3142 2900 5800 Gold and you will one shot anybody :)

i cant move wtf8 votes

Because all those items are complete ass on their own.

WoonStruck14 votes

And?

How is that an argument?

Shiv, Runaan's, and PD are not uncommon rushes. Most end up sitting on a BF sword and finishing a zeal item if they aren't 100% rushing one.

i cant move wtf4 votes

On what? Tryndamere and Yasuo? There's no adc that rushes any of the items you listed. You act like a BF sword is like buying boots, it's 1300 gold. That means to have an effective zeal item you need to invest roughly 3900 gold, which is more expensive than most classes first completions.

WoonStruck16 votes

And so they deserve to be the hardest carries at 2 items, which is only 6k gold for them, and continue to scale after that with more items that cost under 3k gold?

Come on, man. This logic isn't that hard to put together.

ADCs are supposed to be weakest early game. There's absolutely no sense in their first or even second item competing with other classes.

i cant move wtf3 votes

An ADC isn't "op" at 3 items, and you're going to have completed boots with those 3 items so it's not just 6.5k but about 8k. Even then they're underleveled from usually being in a duo lane.

WoonStruck6 votes

Have you ever tried fighting them at 2-3 items when you can't instantly burst them down? Doesn't sound like you have.

Meanwhile, while that ADC is at 3 items, everyone else is at 2.3 items.

i cant move wtf4 votes

Literally any assassin that doesn't feed their ass off can one shot an adc easy at that point and any point before it, unless maybe a support shields or ults them.

So you're saying for them to not be overbearing, you have to instantly delete them?
