Why do I have 3 Gold and 1 Bronze player on my team against 5 Diamond players?

I'd rather spend 20 minutes in a normal queue than get into a game like this after 50 seconds, because it's a massive fucking waste of everyone's time. Fix this shit.

Because you were winning and had to go back to 50% winrate

Nea1045 votes

That. Forced 50% win-loss ratio. A shame.

I have under 50% winrate in both normals and ranked but they still give me such teams so it can drop even lower.

wait is there a way to show winrate in normal?

  1. You're probably either playing FlexQ, and seeing SoloQ rank, or playing SoloQ, and seeing FlexQ rank.
  2. Rank has literately no impact on matchmaking. What does matter is MMR.
  3. Sites that give you information on other players are stupidly inaccurate. It took them a year to finally realize I had reached level 30. After a couple dozen ranked matches.
Bârd8 votes

Sites like OP.GG are decently accurate, but they do require that you manually refresh the information.

DuskDaUmbreon2 votes

I refreshed it a half-dozen times. No change. For a year.

Eeyore1 votes

They don't track non-ranked games. Until you actually played one, there might not actually be any information for them to check.

Tormentula2 votes

Its surprisingly not.

The site doesn't even give stats for more then one region. (for instance, look at a champion's winrate, playrate, banrate, and builds in Korea. Now look at it in every other region. Its the exact same.) Granted its a bug on the site's end, but its been one for a year now, I'd hardly say the site is accurate if it can't give the right stats for the right regions in the first place. Maybe for Korea its accurate but not so much for other regions (I think even before it was a one region bug, NA+EUW+OCE shared statistics on champions and Korea+Japan shared)

why do i wait 15 minutes in queue for a blind normal game only to play with level 25s as a diamond player?

why is it when they arent level 25s they are 5 man diamond 1 premades?

FAAAAAAAIRLY certain that the engineers working on matchmaking, and the balance team are different people.

"That couldn't have possibly happened! Matchmaking is solid!"

"Only low elo trash think matchmaking is BS and blame it!"

"You're just not having enough impact, don't blame matchmaking"

"That could have snowballed either way, someone just made a mistake somewhere. Unlucky, but not matchmaking's fault"

"You should be able to solo carry that if you're actually a good player!"

/s

I guess just pick one of those, they're the usual answers.

It's Flex queue. Lol. You're stilll wrong and you're still trash. Keep blaming matchmaking.

Wait are you actually following me around on here just to keep talking shit? Kinda sad man.

Also, every account I have is higher ranked than you, so..

I hear the, "You should be able to solo carry that if you're actually a good player!" far too often.

Were you coming from a winning streak? Or did you win more than lose, in your last 10-20 games? It's just Riot's forced 50% win-loss ratio system. You probably had some easy win before as well. Shameful, I know, but that is.

DuskDaUmbreon2 votes

That's not how it is at all. What it is is that your MMR has passed your skill. Ergo, you're fucked, because your opponents are now beyond you. Or they assume that you're good enough to carry lower players.

And this isn't even what happened here.

Nea1044 votes

Absolutely not. Riot's system is totally flawed (intentionally), and forces 50% ratios as far as possible. If it were how you say, you would find balanced matches nearly always, just a bit easy or a bit hard depending. Instead, there are about 95% (19/20) unbalanced matches (below Diamond), and that's in order to ensure who will win (as far as possible): easiest way for 50% ratio, fast queues, shorter games (= more games), cheap coding.

Tormentula2 votes

MMR legitmately does fuck you over after a winstreak, what it will do is try to slow your climb down by matching you with the worse players of your new MMR (say you're plat 3 on a hot streak to plat 1, the system will give you the next hot lose streak diamond rather than just somebody climbing the same pace to diamond).

Riot has confirmed this system in the past. I doubt they would say that's a thing if it wasn't as they know we hate their match making to begin with.

charge attack4 votes

ITS FLEX QUEUE GUYS. Calm down. I know you want to circlejerk that matchmaking is broken and Rito is holding you back but at least don't take flex queue rants as an example.

It's funny that people are so ready to be proven right they don't even check or ask if it's flex or solo/duo queue.

Trias0001 votes

And if it's flex queue then it's ok?

Pumping Iron3 votes

Cause d5 player are like silvers, i speak from experience.

SugataYoLoShindo3 votes

Such lies. Don't see a match in the history that looks anything like that.

Glory ln Death3 votes

Because Riot knows you're the next Faker, but they can't afford to let anyone be better than him, so they intentionally sabotage your games with trash players.

is this Flex queue? i don't mind if it is, i seek a challenge in flex but not in solo/duo queue

I had 4 low lvl plaxers against an all lvl 30 team with 1 plat.

The secret is that us Diamond players really aren't much better than you.

nice table1 votes

because normal games have nothing to do with your rank? most diamond players only "troll" in normals while most lower ranks tryhard

Tormentula1 votes

So many people are upvoting this without understanding the issue.

The detail OP left out is this is FLEX QUEUE. MMR for flex queue is different then solo queue because its a separate ladder. They may be diamond in solo, but because its flex their MMR is only silver-gold, right where the OP's team is. Additionally those Diamonds are going to have to climb in flex back to diamond, so until say a season or two from now, match making for flex is going to feel weird unless riot literally elo boost every diamond player in flex queue to their solo queue rating.

Its the same exact issue as we experienced when ranked 5s were a thing, you'd have a bronze 5 man team but that's only because they're just a group of diamonds trolling around or pretending to play like boosted monkies, because the team was technically bronze MMR it went against other bronze teams, be it them actually being bronze or another bronze group of diamonds.

I expect either a) over time it will balance itself as diamond eventually climb back to diamond in flex, or b) diamonds will always be in lower elo because they don't give a shit about flex and either troll or climb to g5 and then go to sleep, that last part would sound more like what I do anyway.

Vigopl1 votes

You are the bronze player. So why are you complaining?

Kloqdq1 votes

Legit has a diamond Icon.

Profirix1 votes

A friend of mine actually called Riot to complain about a similar issue. When we were getting paired in normals, we were going up against plat and diamonds and neither of us were gold. Riot basically said that the current system uses win/loss ratios but to a much lesser degree than you would think. It is based on the TOTAL number of games (across ALL game modes) you have played. Even if all you do is play ARAM, you can have an MMR that rivals plats and diamonds based on sheer number of games played. If you have played a lot of games, your MMR is artificially high, even if you are losing every game. It takes a significant amount of losses in a row to alter your MMR.

This particular Rioter also said that they will be addressing this MMR inflation in the next season.

Cause it was a normal?

Normal is supposed to be a casual environment. People should be allowed to play with others who are vastly different in skill - that Level 30 that was on your team was queued up with that Diamond player on your team. Unless youre going to force friends not to play with each other in Normals, there isnt anything anybody can do about that.

Plus, those 4 Diamonds on the enemy team looks like they were queued up together as well. Meaning that matchamaking probably had a hard time finding a game for them. Its a Normal. Its not a big deal.
