A Simple Request for Gnar

There are many occasions when Mini Gnar is about to die and transform into Mega Gnar. The Gnar player either makes a thrilling turnaround or is killed anyways, which is horribly disappointing. The enemy can see clearly how much rage Gnar has and can play around it, while Gnar doesn't really get to say when the enemy goes in for the kill. Seeing as Gnar is doing pretty poorly now, it wouldn't be outrageous to give him increased rage generation when low on health in order to help him transform. Something like double rage generation when under 25% health would be all that is necessary to improve the feel of playing Gnar and helping create interesting risk versus reward scenarios. A Rioter response would be greatly appreciated, if only to say whether not a change like this is reasonable or has been looked at.

As a Gnar player, I don't think it's really that necessary though would be nice...I'm okay with the way he is...shhhhhh no one plays him...don't make Riot give him a buff

they had to buff him a few patches back, and he's still not doing well. just something small to bring him to a consistently 49%-50% winrate would be good

Just because his win rate is low doesn't mean he isn't good. A good Gnar player can pretty much excel vs any match up. Plus I'd be curious at what rank you're looking at for his win rate or if it's general average. He is one of those easy to pick up, hard to master champions and that's why his win rate is lower then average.

i'm looking at plat+ winrates. any good player of any champion can theoretically win any matchup, but it is really difficult. he is also really telegraphed in his abilities and transformations, meaning a competent enemy will have no trouble playing around him. gnar certainly isn't trash tier, but he is fairly weak right now. he shouldn't be one of the 50+% winrate champions consistently, but he shouldn't be struggling as much as he is right now. he is a champion that was designed by nature to be easy to pick up but have a ton of depth, so he should have a decent winrate for new players that increases with experience, which isn't really shown. players with 125+ ranked games in plat+ on gnar only have a 53% winrate, which isn't all that good. compare that to maokai, who has a peak winrate of 54.79% in the 50-125 ranked games category. pretty much every gnar player i've talked to agrees that gnar is struggling quite a bit right now, and could use a small buff

with as much CC that he can do and damage with building very little AD (or ridiculous damage if building AD) of course it needs to be telegraphed. It would be an unfair advantage if you didn't know when he could leap on you, and slam you against a wall, stunning you for a super long time till you're dead.

Even a competent enemy makes mistakes, gets out of positions. He isn't really that weak that you're making him out to be. He's balanced which is why he hasn't been getting much, if any, buffs or nerfs. Looking at op.gg on the champion selection the top Gnar "masters" all have above 50% win rate save for a few.

He definitely doesn't have to have decent win rate for new players. He may be meant as an easy to pick up, but hard to master champion, but that doesn't mean anything in regards to win rates. He's still a complex champion with 7 skills. And comparing Gnar to Maokai isn't a good comparison considering Mao is a simpler champion to use and easier to play.

I'm a Gnar player and I"m okay with him the way he is. I have a good win rate with him regardless of him supposedly being in a bad state according to you.

In the patch 6.9 Patch Notes, Rito specifically stated that one of the reasons they're buffing The Black Cleaver is in order to buff champions including Gnar, Riven, and Renekton, who they specifically stated are sturggling quite a bit. It's probably wiser to wait a couple more patches before any more changes, but this alone warrants considering Gnar for more buffs if they do not have a large enough impact.

I appreciate that Gnar is telegraphed, but my point was that enemies have a lot of opportunity to outplay him or play around him.

Gnar really has 4 skills due to the fact that his Q and E are basically the same with minor differences. This is by design, and is largely why Gnar is the most intuitive transforming champion.

Just because you have a decent winrate with him doesn't mean that he is good. There are master tier Yorick mains who have a lot of success, but that doesn't mean Yorick is good. Nearly every single other Gnar player I've talked to, including Diamond level players, have all agreed he is not doing well, and both his playrate and Rito's words support that.

Nah, let's not buff ranged manaless toplane cancer again.

Gnart Even Close1 votes

just because something is "cancer" doesn't mean it shouldn't be strong. look at all the meta top laners

I wished they would just hide his rage bar so the enemy team or laner can't play around it. It's sad really.

In fact, it's a shame you can't just control your rage bar at any given moment and transform like Elise, Nidalee can.

Gnar is too fair of a champion in many ways

I'm okay with them showing rage bar....they show everyone else's mana bar, energy bar, and whatever Trynd and Aatrox one is called. It helps the enemy know when a good time to play more aggressive or more passively. And even then regardless of it, you can still get good jump and ults in.

I like the idea!
