Too many champions, not enough bans, ranked smurfing is a joke, balance team is a joke.
It sure is a good thing TFT is out right now. Only reason I open this game. The state of SR is a joke right now.
There's about 20 champions that are pick/ban cancer. Which is unfortunate because we only get 10 bans. So victory boils down to "Which team got more op/cancer champions (or champion combinations) on their team"
Damage is way too high, too many fights are won or lost because somebody got insta-zeroed before they could even react.
The client is buggy as shit, seems like every other game I get into has someone disconnected either at the start of the game, or halfway through it.
Community is toxic as ever. That'll never change until riot admits they need to incentivize account linking, and do something to stop toxic players from just creating new accounts. Bans and penalties don't matter when the people can just go buy another account or level up a new one. Its like putting a locked door with a "do not enter" sign in the middle of a field. Just fucking walk around it. Why is the door even there? Who the hell is going to listen to that "do not enter" sign? Nobody.
Matchmaking is a joke. Gotta love queuing up with my 2 bronze friends and my other friend who just started playing a month ago, and getting queued up with master/diamond/plat players and getting absolutely roflstomped. Its a common, popular thing for master/challenger players to stream their "Lets smurf from iron to challenger!" bullshit, and Riot seems totally ok with this -- even though it means that the entire fucking ranked ladder is a sham.
If you've got top tier players going all throughout all of the ranks, then there is no measure of skill. There's no reason to have a ladder at all if you're going to allow that. That would be like a talent scout going to a high school or college football game to see if anyone's worth bringing up -- but you've got a bunch of NFL players going through these games in disguise and the high school or college kids just get obliterated, then the talent scout goes "Oh man -- these high school and college kids suck. Nothing to see here." Its like a pro MMA fighter walking into a children's karate dojo and just beating the shit out of a bunch of little karate kids, and Riot is just looking at it and smiling like "Yep this is fine. We are happy with our ranked system. Those little karate kids should have fought better. This is an accurate representation of their skill."
And I don't know how many champions need to be gutted, hotfixed 3 times, OP for an entire split, 100% pick/ban, etc etc etc before the balance team has to accept some kind of responsibility for their bullshit. Like... at what point do we hold these idiots accountable? Why is it just an accepted thing that whenever a new champion comes out, they're going to be OP as holy hell, or completely fucking worthless? Why are there champions in the game right now that are absolutely unplayable gutted, because "we can't figure out how to balance them, so fuck them straight to hell" Why is it acceptable for certain champions in the game to be hated by almost the entire community because they're unfun to play against, overpowered, overloaded oppressive tumors -- but they remain unchanged patch after patch after patch? (looking at you, Yasuo, Tahm Kench, Yuumi)
Ya know, I really don't wanna believe that its all about money. But for some of these problems, that's the only thing I can think of that makes sense. Riot won't perma-ban people because that's less players buying stuff with real cash. When people get their accounts banned, they gotta get all their favorite champions on their new account -- so out comes the wallet.
Riot won't stop making champions, because champions make them truckloads of cash. Damn the balance, damn the state of the game -- we've got money to make boys!
And what about new champs being OP? Well shit, if the new champ is broken as hell, I want my freelo. Lemme just bust out this credit card real quick.
You can even trace the allowance of streamers smurfing back to money, if you put your tin foil hat on tight enough. Those streamers get thousands of viewers. Each one of those viewers may or may not be a league player already. If they are, cool. If they're not, well maybe watching this streamer do something interesting to watch might bring in a new player -- and new players equal new money! That's a stretch, I know.... but you see my point.
Idk man. I just wanna see something change. Any one of these things, or a handful of them. Whatever's the easiest one to fix.
Cuz its just been getting worse and worse, and I really love this game and I hate to see it like this. I hate to feel this way about it.
So just.... do...... something. Anything.
Guess its TFT for me for now (which is also a balancing nightmare, but at least its fun, and for the most part its way less toxic -- oh yeah.... why the fuck do we need to be able to ping on TFT? Please remove pings.)
