Please rework Darius already, he's not even fun to play as and is hard to even carry with

IsIsGankedParis··13 votes·2,642 views

I can't even pick him without my team calling me a troll or telling me he's a horrible champ(which he is right now).

I just want to be able to play Darius again, I don't want to be called a troll or told he's a horrible champ.

I want to be able to use him well again, he's currently a really bad champion and in a terrible spot, he needs a rework to be useable again.

Please Scruffy or whoever is going to work on him, please rework him already.

I also noticed that while you have a couple wins on your match history with Darius you didn't buy a single ward either game, you never even appeared to be building a Tiamat (Let alone a Hydra) which is fing amazing on him (I rush it unless I need a hexdrinker or an early giants belt and even then I rush it after that. then follow with tank build as normal) and you have some stange runes/masteries... try just going 9/21/0 with your darius chance page (I like that one with the 1% chance to crit... always cool to get lucky). also do you start dorans blade? (I do cause the shield sucks nowadays) and if your losing kills cause people are escaping you get a phage (can always turn it into a triforce later)...

btw the main reason a hydra is amazing is cause q + hydra active kills a wave ;) a well farmed darius is a happy darius

I don't build Hydra on Darius because I don't like going static offensive items all the time.

I may have trouble with warding but that's something I could work on, I didn't feel the need to ward those gams because I was becoming a threat and could tell when the enemies were advancing towards me(intuition?).

I typically rush tank items on Darius even when ahead(1-0/3-0) if I get REALLY ahead then I know I'm going to be a target and get items to help sustain through fights, my base damage is good enough to not build very much damage against champs heavily reliant on burst(Riven).

He's not fun to use, even when fed I can't carry because I won't have my ult up to help my teammates who are behind in their lanes, hell I barely managed to help my mid laner because I was tempted to not use my ult because Riven would beat me in a 1v1 if I didn't have it.

Hydra is not just for offense. It's a farming tool. With it Darius can push a lane so fast it is scary. It applies your bleed in an aoe so when your teamfighting you apply more stacks to more people so when you chain ult you get the multiplier on everyone. It's a crucial tool for Darius.

Warding isn't just for you. It's for your jungler. Top laner warding tri-bush and entrance to blue not just protects yourself from ganks but warns your jungler about attempts to counter jungle. if your jungler is counter jungling the enemy placing some deep wards (near enemy red if on blue team, or blue if on red team) can be a vital asset to allow your jungler to ambush the enemy.

Try out a few games rushing a hydra. Focus on farming, harrass with the edge of your q and try to win all of your trades. be careful to not waste your w, and dont use your e to pull in someone that wants to be all ontop of your face (or has an escape that they can use immediately after) if you need a hexdrinker (aka garen) or a giants belt dont feel bad about pausing the hydra to get one, just make sure you come back to it. dont run ignite when exhaust will do a better job (champs heavily reliant on aa damage aka trynd/irelia). and always buy a ward when you go b!

It doesn't apply bleed in an aoe....

No, the reason you're not carrying is because you're not pressing your advantage. The rule of thumb for top lane in League is that when you get ahead in lane, you build offensive. If you fall behind, you build defensive. That way if you're ahead you do more damage than your opponent to facilitate great trading and try to snowball yourself with more kills. If you're behind, you build tanky and play passive until teamfighting starts so you still have something useful to contribute to the fight, your tankiness.

That's not to say if you get ahead in lane you should build nothing but offensive items the entire game. When teamfighting starts to break out, go ahead and buy defensive as needed. However, if you're using your gold lead to get more tanky in lane, you're sacrificing a lot of your ability to potentially carry a game. Damage carries a game much easier than tankiness.

From the sound of it the reason you're not doing good is you don't know how to do good or how to take advantage of it.

I agree Darius is boring though.

Don't insult the champ and cry for a rework just because you can't play him, son. If you don't get fed in lane and snowball that lead to a victory screen, pick a different, safer option. Clearly you are not prepared for the dunkstruction. Darius Don't test me

Would you like to tell me I can't play Darius as well?

He needs some help at the moment, a partial rework at most and some changes to W/R at least

I don't understand your argument. What is wrong with his W and R? Are you saying they are strong or weak? Because both are wrong.

Too much power in his W leaves the rest of his kit weak

His 40% AS slow is the primary reason most bruisers can't fight him

Needs to lose the AS slow and get a reset back on R so he can actually get picks

Too much power in his w? I find that his Q is the main reason people don't get close to the minion wave, his W is mostly used as a slow in the early game.

Rest of his kit weak? He has a decently long range hook considering the rest of his abilities, he has a AoE damage ability with no cast time and short cool down, and he has a reset-able execution ult.

Most bruisers can't fight him because his early game is meant to be borderline OP. He can force people into bad fights with his hook, and poke people with the edge of his Q. The W attack speed slow barely makes a difference, which is only 20% at rank 1 btw, because no one should be able to fight him early on.

Sure, the double slow on your carry or something might be very annoying, but if Darius gets in range to W your carry, chances are they are going to die. There are also quite a few other champs that bring double slows to the table, Nasus being a great example, with a longer range scaling slow that pretty much renders anyone useless for 5 (!) seconds.

And he needs to get a reset back on his R? What? It...It already has, and always had, a reset...

As a side note, I had Darius on my mind during all this and decided to play as him and enjoyed winning lane super hard and just dunking everyone later on. So much fun.

20% hurts a lot when you lose 1-2 AAs from the slow every trade builds into a 200 hp advantage over a few minutes

His Q can be traded with if you close in, as the base damage is fairly standard for bruisers but hurts a ton on the outer edge. Except you don't want to close in because he's going to slow your AS and shit on you in the trade anyway

Being unable to ult and secure picks while roaming is the issue, because it will be on cooldown for the next fight

No offense but Darius is just fine at lower Elos, and gold 5 isn't very far up

That's the point, Darius is meant to wreck other bruisers, especially ones who focus on auto attacks, in lane. If you pick Fiora into Jax, and wonder why you are losing trades because you can't auto attack him, it's the same idea. Same thing with trying to trade against a Trundle and just getting all your stats stolen. Lots of champs (top laners in particular) have a dueling mechanic and frankly Darius' is not that good when you compare it to others'. The best counter to Darius is someone who can stay out of his effective range and still get damage out on him, Jayce is a great example.

I've also never had an issue with my ult cooldown not being up for a fight even if I had used it in a gank or when I was roaming earlier. It's honestly not that long, and with a little CDR you can be dunking every fight. Of course a high-impact ult like his which can turn a fight around if used right should have a decent cooldown.

I also just started playing ranked seriously pretty recently, which is why I'm so low, and I duo with a close friend of mine who is in high plat. So the average player I'm up against is quite a ways higher than me on the ladder. Still haven't lost lane as the dunkmaster ;)

He's not horrible. Unless your counter-picking yourself. Or not playing him well. (In which case he is still not horrible.)

Now matched up against some of the fotm top laners at the moment he might not be the best... but yeah...if you know how to play him you should have no trouble doing decent in a game even if your laning phase was iffy (and I don't mean you feeding your opponent 10 kills out of stupidity...)

Ive been playing Darius since his release(not on this account completely) and I can tell you he is no where near as good as before.

Yes he needed that .5 second grace period on his ult removed as it was stupid but he is just a terrible champ to play now.

He can't shut down champions like Jax as hard as before, he can't roam effectively while having his ult up anymore, and he can't use his ult to finish someone off without fear of wasting it for a more important fight later on.

As far as finishing off people with your ult... it's just a matter of opinion. Think about the cooldown... death timer length... positioning... who are you finishing off? the support? screw wasting an ult... other person...? well... is a team fight eminent? yes? are you wanting to save your ult cause you wanna be greedy and try for a triple/quadra? Be less stingy with it. It's there to secure a kill (and sometimes dodge a skillshot at the sametime...) And Jax is well...Jax. Screw him. No one likes Jax. Not even Jax players. They may say they do, but they cry in the bathtub at night after wrecking noobs all day. >.>

You're proving my point about the finishing people off with ult, if I'm roaming with Darius to help my team what's the point of ulting the mid laner to secure the kill if I'm going to die to the top laner now because I no longer have my ult? Why am I not allowed to keep my ult for using it correctly?

I can't shut down Irelia as hard either, nor Tryndamere and many more.

personally i don't feel that darius is weak at all. I don't play him much anymore but that's because i prefer...something, tbh i've been taking a break from league. I think he's in the same spot he's been in for a long time, he's a strong pick and his weakness is that he's easily kited in teamfights (as it's always been). He's a hardcore lane bully (you shouldn't lose to a riven in lane, and jax is one of his counters but is out of meta). That's the warding point that was made earlier i guess, darius doesn't have any escapes so unless you're ready to 2v1 top you need to keep ward presence. I can't say that i know everything about darius since i don't play him often, but i know that in ranked especially i have trouble with them. god dang darius mains wrecking my malphite :(

WOW guys. Just one huge & fat WOW

There are alot of different champions who require Riots attention. Darius isn't one of them. Well built Darius is more of a final boss than a balanced champion.

His ult can deal up to 1k true damage and it resets on kill. Even without it it's cooldown isn't long. He isn't horible. You are.

His ult deals 1k true damage at level 16 with 200 bonus AD

200 bonus AD on an immobile bruiser doesn't happen

Lmao, I get Darius' in my diamond games once in a while and they DO carry. So you must be doing it wrong. he may actually be one of the easiest to carry with given you managed to grab a lead in your lane and ROAMED WITH IT.

He is NOT a horrible champ by any means, you just need to build and play smart. I had a Darius go 19/1/9 simply because he rotated so often. He built triforce first and carried too easy. Looking at your games, there's your problem. You don't build triforce. Try building that first and ROAM LIKE A FUCKING GOD. Seriously, you understand that his ult is insane when you have a slight lead?

He doesn't need a rework, people just need to learn how to build and utilize his kit properly.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Best part I love about Darius is the way he bullies with his Q. Usually only a item 3074 should be enough for a bruiser Darius while I'm gonna start building my item 3068 item 3143 item 3190 since I will always have a squishy jungler on my team while fighting against an enemy Jarvan.

If OP is actually serious about asking for a rework, he needs to stop bothering my Darius and go main another top champ.

Still a level 5 q with hydra active kills a minion wave (except for tank creep)

AHeroNamedHawke1 votes

It's better to go CDR than build Hydra, you don't need that much waveclear with Decimate on a tiny cooldown

Consider trying this build instead OP

http://www.lolking.net/guides/147977

You're still very tanky but can snowball with the Brut, and max CDR lets you ult more freely

He's in a rough spot atm but in plat you can make it work

Also I haven't tried Righteous Glory on him yet but Ill add it to the guide anyway

Alëk1 votes

He's also so annoying to lane against.

Hex the FenFen1 votes

If they buff him then they need to buff Zyra. Considering i do not find him to be a bad champion AT ALL. he is a power house and gets hella tanky

Logical Yasuo1 votes

He is fine if you use your ult to kill top then you can still deal a ton of damage in a teamfight since after hydra you build tank anyway your job as darius in a team fight is deal damage and peel not carry the game. Most toplaners can't carry a game on there own. Its a team game not let me carry my team so we can win your job is to apply pressure in top lane and the hydra lets you do that.

ShadowParker1 votes

If you just build ad early on him, you pretty much guarantee the lane, as well as you get good poke- build triforce and your mana problems are gone. Ward and you'll be fine.

GoldenLeSpoink1 votes

Darius? Rework... what? They are a lot of other champions that need their reworks ASAP rather than the Dunkmaster. Honestly, Darius is one of the best duelers and is an early game champion. You need to kill get ahead with him, similar to how Fiora and Wukong are. You can't be crying over a champion that has a constant bleeding affect that stacks and a true damage reset ult. Does he lack some skill fixes? Yes, but he is not at all terrible and just needs a little tweak, similar to what they did with Viktor.

A Slime Appears1 votes

I'll admit it kind of sucks I have to be careful who I pick him into and his lane matchups are kinda binary, but I still enjoy playing him and wouldn't want Riot to do anything significant to him. Dunking people is too fun, and he's one of the few champs in the game who is cohesive in lore, appearance, and kit. This isn't the rework you are looking for, Riot ___
