Why is Akali not a major assassin rework?

This is a champion that has been below average since her e and r nerfs (years ago) and is currently only viable with tank builds.

Because she is planned to get a complete VGU eventually. They don't want to repeat the mistakes they made with Mordekaiser where they gave him a small rework when he would have needed a big one.

That sucks. It takes them forever to do these and there are probably a ton of champions ahead of her in line.

Yup.

Evelynn and Shaco are also on that list, which is why they don't receive big reworks in the assassin-update.

Because she needs more work than a roster update can provide.

We looked into Akali pretty early on in the Assassin update and concluded that she probably needs a full VGU to get her to where she needs to be. We didn't want to push out a update that only fixed some of her problems as that hasn't netted great results in the past. Evelynn was already high on our VGU list so we passed on her for now. Both of them are still on the table for smaller changes though (think Annie and Fiddlesticks size changes from the MYMU)

Riot would rather nerf het to dust and leave her trash tier. Meanwhile Ryze gets his 5th rework/update.

She'll be getting a full on rework, these reworks are more akin to the mage rework and juggernaut rework in scale.
