Does predator actually proc on abilities?

I realize that the tool tip said that the mastery procs on attacks and abilities, but when I activate it before using assault and battery(vi's ultimate) . It doesn't seem to apply the damage anywhere and the total damage done by the mastery tool tip remains unchanged. Has anyone else had any possibly weird interactions with this mastery?
