The reason Thornmail was reworked is simple: Life Steal simply made "Thorns" non-existent.

Let's face it, the reason Life Steal overwhelms Thornmail is because Life Steal can be stacked through the roof. By the use of Runes, Masteries, and all Items built from Vampiric Sceptre any non-allied unit becomes a fat sack of Health.

Thornmail in its present state is a good start, but I do have some issues mostly as a Rammus main.

First off I love the item Bramble Vest. Bramble Vest gives an early, non-expensive way to combat Life Steal. Also, this opens up avenues for build paths. And for this reason, I'm confident the new Thornmail is temporary.

My main concern with the current Thornmail is the passive, Cold Steel. Now, as I believe Thornmail is just a temporary Band-Aid against Life Steal, Cold Steel is an effective passive. However, I hope Riot does make changes soon because I want enemies to hit my Rammus as fast as they can!

Please Riot, Get some ideas going for Bramble Vest builds so that Thornmail can be the sharp aggressor it was meant to be.

In 100% agreement.

Less armor on it in general means less synergy with Rammus, which was intended, and which is why I hope they will either buff Rammus or Thornmail in future patches.

I just hope they make new items out of Bramble Vest so they can remove the Cold Steel from Thornmail.

Yeah, they could make a bramble vest + warden's mail + something build path for a new item that's similar to new thornmail with GW + attack speed slow, as well as changing thornmail to be a bit closer to what it was, maybe change the warden's mail to a chain vest.

Actually, a new item with bramble vest + catalyst of aeons would be a legit sweet tank item. Give you the mana/sustain you need to use your abilities, as well as helping you deal with heavy sustain AD's. That would feel so good to rush as say, Nautilus/Maoki into Fiora/Riven.

Once again, the damage taken minus healing received through lifesteal was more before the changes than the damage taken minus healing received through lifesteal is now.

Regardless of what Thornmail is supposed to do, it is far weaker against lifesteal than it was before, and weaker in general.

Thorn damage was/is reduced by MR. Reduced healing is equivalent to true damage.

Indeed, but even with that factored in, my statement is still correct. That's just how much TMail's damage got reduced.

I hope that these Thornmail changes are being made with the intention of not being broken When the Runes Rework hits.

It's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.
Otherwise Riots Balance is just fucking trash and should start handing out major nerfs exclusive to Marksman

They could buff rabbits in particular by having his e or w increase attackspeed of champions attacking him in particular. Since he's so aggressive and thornmail damage is lower now, add a 10% damage reflect to w active.

I would prefer buff to Rammus. Thornmail is now effective on more champion.

He got his nerf toned down.. yes his reduced movement speed slow help, but his two core item got nerfed in overall for him. Sunfire cape radius got nerfed and it's damage got toned down. And now thornmail build off cold steel passive wich reduce damage overall for Rammus that expect people to attack him..

I honestly don't think Cold Steel passive is that bad. Yes it inherently reduces the amount of thorn damage but it reduces the enemy ADC/top laner's overall dps which I think is more important.
