How does Flex queue work (MMR/ELO)? I placed higher than pre-season.

Is the MMR/ELO ranking the same (or roughly the same) for flex queue as for solo/duo?

Last season, in S6, I did my placements (solo/duo) and got placed in G5 (stayed there the whole season to just to get the rewards---no more ranked games after my placements).

Then for S7 Pre-season I played Flex queue and ranked in G1 going 8/2.

Then now, in the official S7 (playing Flex again), I placed in P2 going 7/3.

Compared to my pre-season ranking, I skipped 3 divisions. Lol. Am I supposed to be "climbing" like this?

Or is Flex's MMR/ELO supposed to be different (DRASTICALLY different) from your solo/duo?

(I haven't played my solo/duo's yet.)

inb4 Riot calls it a bug.

While that's awesome you got placed that high, the question now is can you retain it? If you're a Gold player you might find as the ladder slowly evens out (mmr wise/placebase) that plat 2 might be more difficult and you start to drop. Maybe you'll get the flip of it and those harder games will allow you to improve even more so and move up! Either way, only time will tell.

Gl onward.
