Aatrox and Irelia don't deserve all the hate they get

Yes, theoretically they can do tons of damage IF they land their ENTIRE COMBO on you, but how often does that actually happen? Most of Aatrox's abilities are skillshots and the same is true with Irelia. Their abilities are extremely easy to dodge and if you get hit by them you deserve to get destroyed. Meanwhile we have champions like Jax and Tryndamere who just jump/dash on top of you and auto you to death (all while being VERY hard or even impossible to kill). TLDR yes they're really strong but at least they have counterplay, unlike certain other melee champs.

Aatrox is pretty mechanically intense, but I’m not so sure about Irelia. Her kit is pretty strong and not exactly difficult to use. I do think her shield busting ability might be a little bit too much at times.

Kinda hard for Irelia to get her shield busting ability without hitting her abilities.

It doesn't matter how good YOU are at landing them. What matters is how good your opponent is at dodging them. And you have other champions like Jax where it doesn't matter how good the enemy is. As long as Jax is good and times his jump+stun combo correctly there's no counterplay.
