I know losing AP on items sucks, but it's probably best that Riot allocates it to Dcap.

Another post was detailing why that's an awful change, but I really think it's probably the best move Riot can make - turn Rabadon's into a stronger OR more accessible item (lower gold cost or up AP).

Why?

Because items get their own niche. They can be fairly strong and usable in their own right without being the general "oh everyone gets Morello's first and then this item because if they don't they're basically trolling."

And more importantly, this makes Rabadon's a must, which is vital when you have so many abuse cases of AP champs doing too much damage without super amazing AP items like Void or Cap. Especially Cap because nobody wants it first now unless they have utility scalings or can reach the backline with ease (LB, Ahri).

So less of that Rylai's Lich Bane Abyssal Nid nonsense that was going on about half a season ago. Kat's going to require a little more skill and less nukes that slow. Syndra will be downright weaker. Vlad will get weaker (sorry Vlad mains) so that they can stop and focus on what he does that's special as opposed to tiptoeing around debating whether or not to buff AP items because Vlad will break them.

And champions that don't need the AP/HP as much but hold onto that slow for dear life will appreciate the cost buffs to Rylai's/Liandry's. Brand, Malzahar, and Taliyah might see more play because they actually can DPS comparatively without being overwhelmed by a Morello/Rylai Syndra.

So yeah buff Rabadon's, because I'd rather APs be balanced around utilizing one big, simple damage item and having items that accentuate their strengths rather than everyone buffed around Zhonya's Stasis, or Rylai's slow. Or Protobelt's active.

item 3089 item 3135 are both 100% necessary to buy on every mage. Every single mage always has two item slots locked into those two items every game.

It sucks, but that's how it is already - and having the AP shoved into Deathcap at least means we're not losing it, since we're always buying it every game anyways.

Not always. Sometimes you just need other items for the situation.

No, you pretty much always build those, unless you don't actually care about dealing damage.

You have three slots that you get to decide what to do with for utility items. Sometimes it means delaying Deathcap till late so you can get the utility items you need - but if you're a midlane mage, you're pretty much obligated to have those two items eventually.

I'll give you Dcap, but the moment the enemy even gets as much as a mantle, VS is already a must. Seriously, against a target with just 30 MR, you've got a roughly, 10% increase in damage. That number keeps increasing the more MR your enemy has.

Most of the times, i personally leave Deathcap as my last item to build, unless i play a heavy Utility based champion (with Shields, Heals, AP scalings on buffs), where Void Staff doesn't really help me. If I have a damage focused champion, most of the times it will be better to buy a cheaper Item with higher stat efficiency or with Unique Effects/Actives that can help you wreck people.

I literally avoid a hyper-scaling item almost every game (not every game gets to the late game), and that in my opinion is a good thing. My problem with it is that it doesn't really give that Powerspike it used to have. I like that i have to work for it (huge price) , that it doesn't have a smooth buildpath (kinda requires you to save gold from time to time), but it doesn't feel worth it anymore.

I don't feel like i have the same Late Game anymore. And that i think it should be the only thing improved.

If we shove AP into Deathcap (but not too much), it will still stay the Late Game item that gives lots of AP only as last item. If it proves to be impossible to buff the base AP, they could lower its AP and increase the %bonus AP, so that it still remains good only when you have high amounts of AP (so many items)

Void Staff is almost rushed by damage dealers, so i wouldn't reccomend any buff to it.

I'm about the same - I almost always build Deathcap last, unless I happen to get super fed early and have a giant chunk of money when I back (if I can actually buy it outright for some reason, I'll do it). Void Staff is usually a 3rd buy, sometimes 4th.

But yeah, we basically need the deathcap for late game scaling as is, and that feels like it's slowly getting worse.

Not 100%. Many mages can go for a bit more survival or utility over pure damage. Cant do damage when dead, but will see now that some wont be auto getting item 3116

Before that item 3165 item 3116 item 3020 item 3135 were pretty much 100% and last 2 slots could be item 3157 item 3151 item 3100 item 3285 item 3140 item 3089

If I did get it, it's be last as well unless no one has MR on their team so it'd be before item 3135. Just too expensive

If you buy QSS when even, behind, or not against a five CC champion team you are trolling. Pros will once in a blue moon buy it, but for most people you should never buy it and instead take cleanse.

To be fair it was too efficient stat-wise. I'd often buy it on Diana due to the sheer efficiency of the item, even if the slow isn't terribly relevant on a 100-0 assassin.

IMO item 3165 is too good It gives 100 AP (compare with item 3285 item 3027) 20% CDR (other major ap items that give 20% cdr: none) 400 Mana (same as item 3030 and item 3027) Grievous Wounds and the Mana regen passive

Catastrop1 votes

It's not just that it's too good, there simply isn't anything to compete with it. All the big ticket first buys for APs are either nerfed, not that good or item 3027. The fact it's the only AP item which gives 20% CDR just exacerbates this even more.

Also it builds from really good components. There's very little early game that can compete with item 3802 to give so much mana sustain to spam more and stay in lane, while quick early CDR item 3108 is also huge

Nah I think it's fine to give the mana item a high amount of AP as you can generally only buy 1 (2 on Cassie and Ryze), and they all should compete for a spot on a champion otherwise you have the Morello's vs. Athene's issue that plagued the last 3 seasons.

Look at it this way.

Viktor - Hex Core. Much higher AP, upgraded abilities, +100 more mana, 100 higher price. Rod of Ages - Same AP, health and less mana once it scales up. Hextech GLP - Gives a damaging slow and HP. vs. Morello's Grevious Wounds, CDR, and mana regen

They're all different but similar enough you only generally want 1 otherwise you're being inefficient.
