Didn't Riot say that Nexus Blitz would be a permanent new game mode at some point?

Maybe I'm thinking of some other game mode, but I'm pretty sure it was nexus blitz. Anyways, I think it's cool that it's coming back for the snowdown event, but why can't it stay afterwards? Weren't they planning on making this permanent?

My guess is that they shut it down to do some work on it and improve the gamemode while not leaving an unfinished mess out in the public eye.

idk tho i want it to be permanent.

Honestly I didn't think it was that bad the first time I played it. I mean yea there's a few bugs and some champs are clearly too strong, but for the most part it was a very good game IMO. Hopefully whatever issues it has are resolved soon.

They said they'd make it permanent if it gained enough traction and a consistent play rate, which it didn't to the extend they wanted. However it got praised and liked by the playerbase enough to give it a second run after fleshing out the graphics, map layout and events which some were the reason behind players not liking the game (the alpha look of the map or some event rewards being just unfun).

If it gets popular enough this time it will become permanent after they apply a fresh coat of paint on the map and flesh out all the bugs. Personally i hope it stays permanent after this time, the events are way more fun this time around (the snowball event and caytlin reward were just bad which got removed).

Edit: forgot to mention that if the gamemode doesn't become permanent it will be added as part of the rotating gamemodes.

It's in Beta. They're giving it entirely unique visuals and adjusting the map so it's not available all the time yet.

It's like releasing a champion but the kit isn't locked in and they're using a retextured model of a different champ. They could, but that's left to Riot to finish before releasing publicly. Blitz requires more work and input than a champion so they're fine letting it be tested by the audience

It is on the PBE and coming back to the main game soon. Still pretty rough as a game mode though IMO, some of the events and rewards are either lackluster or make you want to close the game if the other team gets them, the map feels bad to navigate especially after you lose towers, and there are a lot of bugs. It is probably going to need a few more rounds of iteration before they decide on whether it becomes permanent or not.
