I heavily disagree with the nashor tooth change

the increased the ap to 80 but decreased the attack speed to 40%. if an ap champion want to buy item 3115 is because they want attack speed and benefits from hit effect, and no other ap item gives attack speed. (item 3124 sucks and item 3078 isnt an ap item)

if you are missing the ten percent attack speed so bad then make a runepage just for the champion you build it on

On which champ do you build the nashor tooth ? Even diana prefer more burst damage than some crappy AS.

its a good change as a lover of nashor tooth

I guess I agree, but attack speed is one of the most overrated stats in the game for 3 reasons:

  1. It scales your level 1 base attack speed, not your current base attack speed. 10% attack speed is ALWAYS less than 10% increase to DPS.
  2. Attack speed only translates to DPS in a world where you're allowed to autoattack freely, without getting CC'ed or having to reposition.
  3. It doesn't help your front-loaded damage.

So, yes, I agree that Riot should keep the attack speed/on-hit item strong in that niche, but I also think the change is probably a buff, even for an on-hit build.

It's a pretty good change for my Ekko build.

Gnashor's Tooth is primarily an AP item that gives attack speed as well. Typically, if you're building this, it is for some attack speed, but you aren't looking to cap attack speed. If this weren't the case, you'd follow up with more attack speed items and the bonus AP means your dps would roughly be the same.

If you're getting this item for stacking AP champs (Diana, Ekko, etc.) then this is a net buff because between basic attacks you should be casting spells/repositioning, both of which require time to do that would overlap the time between basic attacks (in other words, if you get ast attack speed, casting time is still the same, so you won't be attacking faster anyways). In Diana's case, just aa, shield, aa, vacuum, aa, or something to that affect. Ekko is different because he doesn't even need it as heavily. His Spells give him all the stacks he needs to proc with a single auto attack.

Now, for Kayle/Teemo who have initial damage buffed with AP, then the DPS would be the same in most cases. Perhaps even burstier?

dont forget kayle. And also ap items lack of attack speed that is an status that some champs benefits alot and have difficult to itemize

Kayle was not forgotten! I listed her at the bottom with Teemo.

I basically grouped champs that use AP and attack speed into two categories. Champs that apply stacks, and champs that have on hit damage. Both of which have efficient itemizing that wasn't hindered by the Gnashor's Tooth change.

Hope that helps to clarify my original post!

It's a buff, you don't need many attacks to kill a non-tank, vs tanks there are better AS items like Wits end, BORK; Teemo will probably get also Liandry (I don't know how good is Liandry compared to Nashors on Diana and Kayle vs tanks).

no is a heavy nerf to the users of this item

I'm going to use Teemo for the number comparison. I'll ignore any other items, runes, or masteries, and use his base attack speed (0.69 attacks per second)

The change makes it so each auto attack deals 3 additional damage. He goes from 1.035 attack speed to 0.966 attack speed, losing one auto attack every 14.5 seconds (if my math is right).

Over the course of those roughly 14 attacks, new Nashors gives a total of 42 extra damage. For comparison, Teemo's basic attack is 59 damage, so the one extra auto attack is always worth it.

That said, if you were relying purely on auto attacks you'd be building AD.

The gap in the difference in the auto attacks will increase the later the game goes. The base AP will help the other abilities more early game. Considering most Nashor's users rush it, I'd say it's about even.

Meh, you are probably buying hurricane anyways so you won't notice 10% much.
