Why is Aurelion Sol being nerfed?!

I noticed in the upcoming updates a nerf to his damage AND ap ratio. Why? He is already weaker rhan other mages. While fun to play, he cant compete with Ryze and Morgana etc. who can hurl fast spells one after the other. Sol has 1 ranged spell. His others are increased speed and those stars. He needs stronger ap and damage as the other mages are capable of attacking more quickly. Otherwise he needs a gameplay rework, to make his Q stronger and allow w and e to have fast acting damage effects ( think Ryze or Swain who can throw spells rapidly ). Asol deserves attention to make him more viable and popular. Instead of nerfing him, nerf champs who are already high in power and hard to counter. This is why I made a petition thread because these things should be discussed.
