Compromise for Twisted Treeline

ModRowanstar··26 votes·10,695 views

SO someone, and I am not saying any names RIot, thought it was a good idea to get rid of Twisted Treeline soon due to reasons(hint: its RIot). And while certainly a pvp mode requires frequent maintenance, I believe there is a compromise. Keep Twisted Treeline for AI Matches (including intermediate) and custom games (i use custom to test out champs and doofus around). Its not competitive and just for fun and enjoying that mode. This means that there doesn't need to be maintenance on the map (although i suggest updating jungle critters to be more realistic like SR just for keeping things equal) and when items are fixed/updated they can apply to SR, other modes and TT AI. I strongly suggest you take my advice. TT is near and dear to many. It takes more work to get rid of it than to just leave it as AI matches only. PLEASE. With many cherries on top (no sauce though that red stuff tastes awful). And some hot chocolate syrup and crunchy peanuts.

Everyone loves Ice Cream. Keep TT. Dew it! :D

You may want to post this to Reddit if you are serious. Riot is rather open about the fact they don't consider the boards a legitimate place for feedback, so it is highly unlikely they will see it or care here. But the idea could possibly be a solid one (I don't know how hard it would be to maintain it, but it certainly wouldn't need to be balanced at all if it was only AI and custom) and it would suck if Riot didn't even see it.

thank you. And I am. Also RIot NEEDS to start considering the Boards a primary source of feedback! It is absolutely paramount.

Why exactly? This board has become an extreme vocal minority whose opinions do not reflect that of the majority of players.

For example, I did an experiment. I made a thread here about TT then copy pasted it to the reddit. Here, the thread is sitting at -1. There, it is sitting at +7900 with 92% upvote rating.

This board is so tiny that if someone even mentions a thread in a reasonable size discord then the complete entirety of this board's opinions become meaningless. A lot of work has to be done to this board if it ever wants to be taken seriously and even then there is no guarantee it will ever come back. This board slowly died over years and it might take years more to rebuild even with changes. With the current route this board is going it'll stay dead forever

Well i agree. thats the point. this board actually has a lot of activity. the problem is we aren't united, therefore Riot sees us as a speck rather than a loud chorus. If 1 person asks me to pass a law for example. i may or may not. if 5000 ppl repeatedly hassle me about something, i am more likely to do it.

The board is very united. United in upvoting low effort shitposts as long as it agrees with a popular circlejerk. I could go out of my way to make a thread as non constructive and shitposty as possible and as long as the subject is "nerf Pyke" or "nerf Yasuo" it will get upvoted.

And I'm sorry but this board does not have a lot of activity. Popular threads barely crack 100 votes here. REALLY popular ones might approach 200 occasionally. Currently, #1 on the hot page is a ten hour old thread with 40 votes.

A shame too. Even a couple years ago, this place was hopping. Now, literally 2 upvotes is all it takes to reach the hot page (seriously, the hot page has several posts with only 2 upvotes right now). This place really is dying.

Really wish they would've just kept the forums. It was so much better organized and easier to post, especially about alternative maps/game modes.

The thing is that would require Riot to put work into the boards. Work into having rioters interact, work into development, work into fixing moderation, work into encouraging more people to join the boards. While Reddit, r/LeagueOfLegends built a safe space where anything they don't like is purged to keep Riot happy, so they can hang out there.

I agree with you, fixing the boards should happen. This is the official forum for crying out loud. But honestly I highly doubt it will happen. As the boards stand now Riot will never listen to it, and as long as Riot doesn't care then the boards will never improve. It's a nasty cycle resulting in entropy. So in the meantime, good ideas like this should be posted to Reddit so they aren't lost

half the shit on these boards looks like it came straight from scrubquotes. At this poijnt it's probably good they don't use this as their primary source of feedback.

RavenMagus1 votes

So they use Reddit instead, because that is covered with posts about esports games, pro gamers and streamers, so that fills perfectly into their ideal worldview where they can ignore anything that is wrong with the game itself.

i genuinly don't see where you're trying to go with this.

like someone already said these boards are an echo chamber cirklejerking the same things over and over again. Half of it isn't even feedback it's just bitching. and when a rioter finally shows up and actually tries to interact they get blasted because the 48% winrate champ boards don't like is not getting gutted even further before they even notice that person works on lore and not balance.

Reddit mods being inbred degenerates doesn't make this place any better. nor is it their only form of feedback. They still have comment sections on their anouncements/nexus articles, twitter, in game feedback systems, pro play & it's players, streamers who actually know how to play the game, etc...

if you were hoping to have a discussion with some redditor white knighting for riot i'mma have to dissapoint you cuz i don't use it. I do suggest you don't talk too much shit about reddit or their moderation team, turns out our own mods don't quite like it when you do that.

There isn't any feedback worth a note going on at Reddit at all. It's the complete opposite of here.

It doesn't seem like they respond to feedback anywhere I look.

And the most important feedback I see isn't even balance concerns - it's calling Riot out on things like bugs and other poor design in the client with nothing done about it for years, and things along that line.

you can keep arguing any of these things, that doesn't change the fact that i never said a damned thing about reddit being good feedback.

srsly stop trying to argue for the sake of arguing. I tried to make it clear i ain't arguing in favour of reddit, get that shit through your thick skull already.

Calm down with the personal attacks there, buddy.

I would agree on keeping it for customs if it requires no upkeep. Sadly, i dont think that is possible, as there will always be some upkeep.

I think the best compromise would be some form of community created custom map content, but i dont think thats feasible in tue short term.

But at least that way the upkeep is up to the community on a per patch basis.

And if they're doing all that, them let them keep it for norms as well...

If it ever catches on (again) then they can re-instate ranked...

No one gives a shit about a trash mode no one plays. 5v5s are next, thanks TenShit.

Don't mean to kill your hopes, but it would still require server space and maintenance when patches go through for SR. Same reason why they didn't keep Crystal Scar for customs.

And they probably also had to do a lot of bug testing on the map too. Making Kayn able to move through the walls properly, or making sure Morde's Ult doesn't somehow send you to DOTA when used on the map. Or Quiyana and making sure her W and Ult actually do the right effects.

Asking myself, was it the decision of a single person or many person to delete TT? (i hope it cause of a ton of persons)
