yes how most tanks do damage ...

but its a perfect pick vs ad kennen considering you are vs ad with kennen rushing bork but still does magic damage with galios shield he passively gets and being able rush armor vs him... galio can farm from distance with Q and engage and taunt kennen if he tries to run in and ult in team fights and galio can use ult to dive in to protect vs dives on carries

I should also point out that a lot of Tanks do damage in the form of AoE. Even if they lack single target damage and dueling power, they can still get high marks if they nail the entire team. (Which is generally what a Vanguard does.)

Galio is the same case as pre-gut Azir and some other champs. They are ok in soloQ, but op in competitive.

I didn't play Galio myself yet, but I like to see him. I'm just afraid that riot will nerf Galio because he is too strong in competitive.

he isnt op he got ahead cuz of the counter pick vs an ad kennen and was able to rush pure armor... and with him having his passive shield vs kennen, karma and syndra's magic damage means he can flat out counter the comp

its more so of being a great pick to negate the enemies team comp then him being OP

top lane he has a 48.42% win rate for 35th out of top laners jungle he has a 45.91% win rate for 29th out of junglers support he has a 48.59% win rate for 27th of supports

if anything he is extremely underpowered and needs help

His ult ensures that he'll always be stronger in organized play than solo q. He'll be nerfed, mark my words. He's basically a case of Shen + Maokai.

Galio is clearly over the top tho. Rito said they didn't like generalists yet made Galio basically into Maokai 2.0

Wat? Have you faced Galio in-game? He's overtuned Deluxe. There is no counter picking gal anyways, since he's a generalist.

I dislike generalist faceroll tanks but Galio is pretty fun! You have to use some care and awareness using his various abilities or you'll mess up the taunt or dash + miss flying way too deep. I agree though his broad strategic profile with range/waveclear/durability/semi global + ally reduction of damage makes him a pretty strong generalist.

VS Kennen whether he built MR or Armor he'd still be powerful despite what he built, unless he built damage. Kennen's abilities deal magic damage regardless, even his passive after 5 autos is MAGIC damage, meaning if he builds MR he can ignore all of Kennen's damage save his normal basic attacks. If he builds armor he has a small MR shield to ignore his magic damage while also having a lot of armor to deal with Kennen's basic attacks. He'd be good against Kennen regardless of what he built most likely.

I do think Galio is a little strong, dunno about OP, but he has a lot of damage loaded onto his Q despite building a lot of armor or MR. I remember fighting him as Kat and while he built literally NO AP whatsoever he was still able to kill me in one and a half rotations of spells while I couldn't scratch him. Early game I was on an even battlefield but eventually he just outdamaged and tanked me despite having a void staff I couldn't deal any damage to him. Most likely because he built Adaptive Helm which apparently works against Kat since she's using her passive over and over instead of other abilities.

-.- it was SKT playing it. Any other point is invalid. They are the BEST team in the world, hands down. Even though I don't like SKT, they study champions for a living and know how to make Galio work man.
