I don't understand the direction of these Eve "buffs"

So you're hurting her early game snowball potential and her late game catch potential for a passive time buff of dubious value? I mean the "compensation" to her W makes no sense because of its incredibly long CD and full resets.

I believe her base MS needs to be increased since she now has no MS, and her "gapcloser" has a 3 second duration with a very long CD for how weak it is at level 1. That, or make it so it actually gets reduced each time you level it, not just 15 seconds at all ranks.

I also believe she needs a few tweaks to her ult. If they don't want to give her a max health ult again, make it give more CC, not 30/50/70, but possibly 40/60/80, or change the cooldown early game and keep the cooldown the same late.

or maybe with this change they could add the w passive on her Q ?

Any amount of change to Eve can cause her to be insane. They like to tiptoe with her.

If they would transfer some power out of her stealth they could afford to give her so much more than she has. =/

Every time they try to do that, they end up just making a new champion, it seems like. I mean, look at Rengar.

Kuroi861 votes

Rengar is an odd case. Apparently he's supposed to be a bruiser? But his Q is an AA reset that can be empowered for massive damage and they give him the perfect set up that you can hit it two times in quick succession and can hit it a third time just a couple seconds later.

Eve, who's an assassin, has had most of her burst removed, she still has a little, but then you've got to take out the last third of your targets health with sustain damage. She's like MasterYi or XinZhao except she doesn't scale quite as well because she's heavily scaling dependent and can't build much resistances, is difficult to itemize for sustain on her because you NEED spellvamp while sticking on targets to keep your health up because despite the move speed on hit from W you still just stayed within cast range of Q most of the time. Which points out another issue, Eve' ability to stick to a target seems to barely be adequate, though with this change that may go away entirely. =/

When Eve was awesome in her early days, it was so oppressive that it forced all players to hide under their own turrets and created an unfun game experience.

She was nerfed so hard that if you played Evelynn, you would literally be banned because she was THAT harshly nerfed. This is not an exaggeration. Many players were banned because they played Eve, and ONLY because they played Eve.

Evelynn will never be buffed to the point where she might be good again, no matter what her kit turns into. Riot is so terrified of her that they will ensure that she remains trash tier forever. She cannot be allowed to be oppressive enough to change the meta again.

I mean look at her now. She's not in the LCS or any championship series but her play rate is decent and her win rate is only marginally shitty. She's being nerfed with the complete removal of her ability to stick to targets. This is literally a deletion from the roster. It is not possible for a melee champion to exist in the current meta without a reliable gap closer, cc, or the ability to stick to targets. Eve has the weakest out of those options. It has to go apparently.

No, I just think people have seen Lee as less of a problem now (I haven't seen a Lee for a while) and are now focusing the comments on Fizz and Katarina, since those two are still causing mischief. Fizz more than ever. EDIT: Forgot to add Kalista

But to be fair (why does that phrase always come up in Eve discussions?) she was largely nerfed because of unranked/low ELO players refusing to buy pink wards.

They still need to rework her in order to allow her to actually be strong. As with Urgot, Veigar, and Mordekaiser, they're trying to make her as playable as they can in the meantime (of course, they've had varying degrees of success so far...).

I think the buff could be actually useful, but it hurts that they removing the passive.

You should always buy 40% CDR on Evelynn. If you have 40% CDR W has a CD of 9 seconds.

Now if you want to assasinate an Adc for example what will happen?

After 0 s - You use W - W has now a CD of 9 s After 0,1 s - You use R - W has now a CD of 7,9 s (if you only hit 1 champ with R) After 0,2 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 6,8 s (if you only hit 1 champ with Q) After 0,4 s - You use E - W has now a CD of 4,6 s (because E hits twice) After 1,1 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 2,9 s After 2 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 1 s After 2,9 s - You use Q - W is now useable again, even before the duration is over. If the Adc is still alive, he can't escape as easy as now. Or you can escape more easy if the enemy has turned around the situation, and you didnt got a reset.

In this case the change is a buff.

But in the early game if you have only maybe 10% CDR, it is a nerf.

What will happen in a gank at level 5?

After 0 s - You use W - W has now a CD of 13,5 s After 0,2 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 12,3 s (if you only hit 1 champ with Q) After 0,5 s - You use E - W has now a CD of 10 s After 1,55 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 7,95 s After 2,9 s - You use Q - W has now a CD of 5,6 s After 3 s - W times out, You don't have anymore passive bonus movement speed from W

In this case the change will suck.

I hope Riot does not remove the W passive. Please give her both the passive and the CDR!

Riot could also increase the stack cap of the W passive. 4 is very easy to reach.

Only the thing is, none of those computations make sense in the gameplay aspect of it. Eve's W is a slow remover. You save it to catch up to targets when they try to slow you to escape. You don't EVER use it to start the fight. Fights aren't supposed to last 18-30 seconds.

What actually happens is this: You open with your ultimate, hitting two targets, getting a shield, and focusing on one target. that target stuns you for 1 second and you eat some damage. then you dps race them with your abilities. they slow you, and try to run, you hit your w, you kill them, your w resets.

In no way does this change offer any sort of positive net to eve's gameplay. She is going to lose her ability to stick to targets (they will simply outrange her and stay past her max range so that she never becomes relevant again), in exchange for... nothing.

I use it at the start of the fight in 90% of the cases, because it is her gapcloser combined with her stealth. If you don't use it at the start its more difficult to land your abilitys (E especially), because the enemy can just walk/dash away.

What actually happens is this: You open with your ultimate, hitting two targets, getting a shield, and focusing on one target. that target stuns you for 1 second and you eat some damage. then you dps race them with your abilities. they slow you, and try to run, you hit your w, you kill them, your w resets.

If one of the targets can stun you (for example a support), it is important to use your W at the beginning to make sure that you get your E off on your primary target (Adc) before they can react.

Sometimes it is better to use your W later, for example against Nasus to cleanse his W. But that is more a exception.

She is going to lose her ability to stick to targets

Yeah, i fear that. This W passive is important. But the buff would be nice in many situations though.

they could just make it so when you activate her W, you wouldn't lose the passive

Probably caused by her win rate in Plat+ sitting at around 50% for two patches in a row for SoloQ.

Or it is the first of a larger change set. With a trend towards being able to disengage from a fight more reliably.

In theory it makes it more reliable to use as an escape if you already used it to go into a fight, in practice you are likely dead before it matters in most cases. With max CDR it should be possible to get it back up before her Ult shield times out if you are not CC'd as E will likely take off two seconds since it hits twice.

She's a melee jungle hybrid damage dealer with no sustain, no reduction, no escapes and a tank 's ultimate. Honestly, right now she's more of a support jungler whose only claim to fame is the ability to dominate the vision war if she decides to. Eventually they'll turn her into a fighter I guess, but until then she doesn't have a meta role, and no meta role = useless in the current player climate.

Are we forgetting that Evelynn has ALREADY had a rework? They already spent the better half of 2 years trying to refine her kit so it is as playable and balanced as possible without destroying the game and everyone's assholes. This feels a whole lot like deja vu with people wondering what direction Eve is supposed to go in after her repeated nerfs, AFTER her rework, after even more nerfs. Just delete her so we can stop speculating?

YOU BEEN WARNED1 votes

Oh hey its Crabby the banana guy on GD, haven't seen you for a while.

On topic, I agree it doesn't make much sense. It is still a buff to evelynn's lategame if she goes for a tanky build, however it hard nerfs her ability to kite melee champions which made her a good counter to Shyvana and co, a niche. Something Rito isn't very good at making lately.

To be honest, the only thing these changes 'buff' is her Luden's Echo synergy, perhaps they want to make her an AP assassin again?

By the way, given that item 3285 procs on Agony's Embrace, it can kill people by itself again. Cool stuff.

By far the best way to play her is as AP Assasin. That should not even be questioned.

Um, considering I main her as an AD bruiser I'll question it lol.

And at most I run 25% CDR.

You miss tons of damage. I played AD Bruiser too, until a half a year ago. But you need your team in the late game. AP Evelynn can solocarry, because she can burst every squshy she finds, excepition maybe fucking Annie. 4.13 was a buff for AP Evelynn. 5.1 too. Look what other people are able to do with AP Evelynn: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2tfp3f/eve_patch_51_post_buff_very_op_breif_guide/ http://i.imgur.com/eBLEVpc.png

And at most I run 25% CDR.

The more CDR you get the more valuable is even more CDR. While the first 15% CDR increase the DPS by 1/0.85-1 = 18%, the last 15% CDR increase the DPS by 0.75/0.6-1 = 25%.

40% CDR increase the Q DPS by 67%, what is op for a secondary damage stat like CDR.

Same here, I'm an Evelynn main and when I first saw the changes, I was like "wtf is this ?" On the first hand, I think the W changes are actually a nerf because you will nearly never be able to use it 2 times in a short fight and in late game the reset is sufficient. Moreover, I really liked the kiting potential of her W passive : 80 permanent MS lvl 18, that's a fucking lot and I think it is really important for early ganks. On the other hand, sure the passive buffs are nice, but I think it will actually change nothing.

I'm still open to test those but I'm not really confident there are going in the right direction sadly :(

I think giving her W the ability to disable slows AND snares would be a nice buff.
