I'm excited to see how bad things get once the jungle exp is nerfed this preseason

PapaGreg21··56 votes·15,968 views

Jungle camps are basically worthless at this point anyway and the best way to win games is camping lanes and beating everyone out for scuttles. Once the experience gets even lower for camps we are going to start seeing a virtual double lane in top and mid. There is going to be so much flame in season 9 that all records for previous flame will be broken.

The lower the exp and gold value of the JG gets, the less farm-reliant junglers you will see and the more "do enough camps to hit level 2 and then gank" champs you will see. It's already the way in solo que and less jungle value only pushes that further and further.

The point is not to stop camp, because with all changes that were made that favour camp it is almost impossible at this point.

The point is that with that -5% exp, laners will have chance to ewentually outscale the jungler.

It's not the best change, but it is some change for the better.

I find it hilarious how the jungle as a whole is getting nerfed due to the highest performing champions in it. Were going to see a jungle diversity as garbage as adc diversity in the new season.

You can´t be punished for failing a gank if your jungle camps are not even worth farming

Hügö14 votes

Can't wait to see all the laners in my jungle which are 5+ levels ahead.

KnightOfEloHell8 votes

What the hell?

Wasn't jungle exp already nerfed? AND the items? I cant even jungle anymore because of both of those nerfs. Literally, I see jungles 3 levels behind when they gank, when they have just been farming, only to be an ez target.

It's sad. Idk why they want to nerf jungle even more, it's so bad right now I refuse to jungle.

Grokmir1 votes

Unless you are talking about morde jungle, jungle is the strongest role right now.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

I am a Morde otp, so kinda.

But when a jungler games me, they are always 2-3 levels behind and it's just a free kill for me.

It's sad.. but I'm also in Bronze, so perhaps thier pathing isn't proper. I prefer to stick to lanes because I just CS better there.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Yeah jungle is so bad literally every top ranked player is a jungler (well or midlaner but that will never change).

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

They're not junglers, just dont have a wave to farm and want maximum CS. Even I'm guilty of taking a camp or two for extra CS if my jungler is on the other side of the map, but I also do it because w heal on Morde was never nerfed from his adc rework. I can be low, heal off jungle camps, walk but into lane with almost full hp

Yet jungle is one of the most game changing roles right now. Literally see nothing but junglers ganking 24/7 without any draw back if they fail a gank.

Aseraan7 votes

What does failing a gank means tho?

If i go into ur lane and blow ur flash and make you go back and tp back to top and it cost me a flash or ghost thats a win for me and my laner same for bot. If anything a failed gank is if i die whit buffs or whit a bigahs bounty.

NaturesMayhem1 votes

That's a little over simplified. A failed gank also means that you're potentially losing out on farm which you could have used to get better items that would have made other ganks possible in the future that are not without enough gold. And you also throw away the possibility of ganking another lane in the same time and actually getting your lane a kill for it. There's good and bads, best not to ignore either.

Aseraan1 votes

Good point also yes i tend to oversimplifie things you know why bother at all when you can just give a crap.

Anyway ye lot things can be said as failed gank if we want to go deeper, but than we can also say that lot of failed ganks are comming from bad decision making and bad play alltogether.

OMGSoAnnoying1 votes

IMO failing a gank is:

  1. Not getting any summoners out, no kill, no forced recall.
  2. I, as the jg, die. Worse, we both do.
  3. We get 1 and 2 right, but no objectives or map pressure (situational -- if we turn a bad recall for our laner into a good one, that works).
Marshbouy1 votes

Lowering the EXP from camps isn't going to solve this problem. Making junglers more dependent on XP from lanes and from kills is going to make ganking more prevalent.

Tobykachu1 votes

Exactly. EXP nerfs is just going to encourage a more non stop ganking, which makes the game less fun for not only farm focused junglers like Yi and Shyvanna, but laners as well.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

The lower the XP from camps, the more worthless counter jungling will be... Making failed ganks almost a nobo.

And they are making the reason this happens even worst. You understand this, right?

You're probably low elo. In higher elo if a jungler falls behind then his camps are up for the opponent jungler to feast upon. You don't want a Jax two levels above you invading your jungle while you're farming krugs.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? how brain dead are you?

Haze971 votes

No arguing with you. If you think junglers can outright bounce back from failed ganks then you ought to play one in an elo higher than silver and share your record here.

so like... any high jg streams ever??

Aseraan1 votes

Yet i still see this argument like WTF lemme tell you how much more a jungler need to watch aout than one stupid lane.......wich if funny itself not even considering 2 of my laners most of the games i play feeding like redcross at Christmass and calling reports on me cuz he cant fking play 1 v 1.

That's literally the problem lol. Junglers shouldn't be in lane 24/7.

BobaFlautist4 votes

Golems clear actually gives a shitload of xp, keeping up with double scuttle + successfully ganks with no pvp interaction.

If they nerf xp of other camos they're trolling though.

Not everyone can do a healthy krug clear tho and onec it becomes a habbit stronger junglers will invade you on it wich will fk ur jungling up even more.

NaturesMayhem2 votes

Krugs are rough. I know few champions who can do them any be able to gank afterwards in the early game.

HA I am Shaco HA2 votes

Shaco can do the 2 boxes on red, 2 on golems, kill them till he gets halfway to level 3 then he can get scuttle if the enemy hasn't already taken it. still a shame to see weak early game champs like Shaco suffer because of champs like Graves. this change just forces ganks to happen more often, so ganking champs like nidalee will prob gank 2 times more than usual

Metal Janna4 votes

If the trinket nerf goes through, i'm starting a new meta where the support follows the jungler around and they just shit all over the other jungler so he can't gank the adc.

NaturesMayhem1 votes

Jungle support meta worked in the past. I say get a sustain jungler like skarner with a lulu following behind, should be a strong enough duo to take on anyone as long as they pay attention to map and get backup.

floo1 votes

Basically how 3v3 is played. Funnel with jungle taking top lane and a waveclear bot.

Illabethe1 votes

Problem is, the support won't level......

P.S. My solution is I just jungle supports. Works far better..... Karma rework is going to shove her into a jungle meta, since her passive will proc off large monsters. I already jungle her fine.....

hewhodoesnotcare4 votes

riot want junglers to only be supports only. Guess its aram only for me next season

BigFBear3 votes

As Voli main i am often already 2 or even 3 Lvl's behind Mid at some point. But when I play against Graves for example he doesn't seem to have this problem. He is outleveling me every time and on par with the laners.

If they nerf XP i can see me 4 Lvl's behind already.

Sleep On Stream2 votes

lol i gank lvl 2 anyway lol

LTK KoRo2 votes

It's the only powerspike which junglers have left, im a filthy Camille abuser, and i know when i fail lvl 2 gank then i can go afk or whatever

NaturesMayhem2 votes

WTF. I stopped playing this game but still come back to the boards in hope of a good change, especially preseason. But Riot is nerfing jungle xp now? Why? What reason do they have?

As a jungle main myself, this is going to create two extremes. On one side, farm reliant junglers are going to be pushed out of meta and for those who still play them, they will be forced to farm most game meaning less lane pressure, as if this wasn't an issue enough before. And then you have non-farm reliant jungers who will gank every chance they get as farming camps will be inefficent in comparison.

But the real question is, why did jungle need this nerf? You get behind no matter what you do if you don't focus on your jungle, why make this any worse?

Summonah123692 votes

Riot can you please fucking buff the jungle camps?

Kaioko2 votes

I'm fine with the JG exp nerfs but I would like shorter respawn times. Junglers who want to power farm and not interact with lanes shouldn't be penalized.

Illabethe1 votes

Except what you just said isn't true at all, and show a baseless understanding of jungle.....

Best way to win games is to drive by camp kill on the way to a gank..... and Scuttle early game is actually not that good. Early game the BEST way to get ahead is Krugs Krugs Krugs. If you do NOT do Krugs, your first clear will get you level 3, almost level 4. If you do Krugs, you will be almost level 5. It's also better gold early game (Scuttle starts out 70g. Krugs are 150g)

Basically what early game scuttle is, is a way to either gain some HP back on a HP intensive clear, and some mana. It's not actually the best Gold/XP path.

Anywho..... Junglers will just leech lanes...... (the same problem Riot tried to address 6 months ago by reducing jungler gold per kill in lane to -15g penalities.... kind of ironic they want to push junglers back into lanes now.... probably has something to do with the new turrets, and a need to keep the games short)

BestPudgeNA1 votes

Krugs give 160g not 150g Most Junglers can't do an efficient full clear of the JG+Krugs You won't be almost level 5 by full clearing the jungle+a crab. You still be 2 camps away, 3 away if you didn't get a crab Jungle gets -10 not -15 for having monster hunter Junglers weren't the one getting funneled ADCs where while mids/top were played bot and JG was second support for the ADC Scuttle really is that good early game because it's faster easier and healthy then ever other camp while giving rewards that aren't much different then any camp that isn't Krugs.

None of this matter cause it's the post lvl7 xp that they're talking about changing. They're talking about removing much of a Junglers late game power which was supposed to be the compensation for gutting the early game of a role Riot knew was already weak. Now they're thinking about gutting the late game XP too.
