I've been trying a few champions, most specifically mages in the mid lane. Zed tends to be my biggest issue being manaless and biding his time until he gets 1 armor pen item and yolo dives me with his ult and gets back to safety. Ahri is statistically his biggest counter but I can't see that match up going in her favor. Could someone who has played this match up explain how it went?

Also in worlds we're talkingthe best of the best. Last i checked swain was super meta and i have not seen ahri

False information. You mentioned Worlds so i too also mentioned competitive play. Ahri has close to no competitve play these last 2 seasons while swain has major competitive play.
If you said ahri counters swain/strong against then why hasent ahri been picked if swain was completely meta.
Swain mid was more common then swain top too.

That doesn't mean she counters him, it means she shat on him. He does not counter her. He is useful against her just like every other champ who is competent in the same role
archerno12 votesWell when he ultis all u have to do is charm and ulti away. He wont do any damage to you. He appears behind u so its easy to charm him. Also Ahri has sustain, Zed doesnt

Astôlfo1 votesLike another person said, Ahri doesn't really counter or get countered. She's so incredibly versatile and well-rounded she has just about every single thing in her kit. She's not OP because of the inherent fact her burst relies on her landing two skillshots. But with enough skill, you should be able to win most matchups as a skill matchup rather than a counter matchup, if you get what I mean.

colesy1 votesno, she doesn't counter zed. if the zed is remotely intelligent he'll wait for you to q before going in which means the only thing you can do is ewr. so sure, you'll probably get away but you won't ever actually kill him.
Charmed by Ahri1 voteso not at all, Ahri vs Zed is more skill based. Favoring a skilled zed. But if Ahri is legit she has more than enough potential to capitilize on zed's mistakes, outplay him and secure the kill. Especially in your elo. Early laning pre 6 you can AA harass a lot, and whittle him down with Q. When there is a clear open shot Charm flash W Q AA ignite will be more than enough to kill him lvl 3-5. Be mindful to dodge his harass as well.
Post 6 zed, if zed just decides to all in, A skilled Ahri will charm him when she masters her timings this gif is faker.

Here Zed tries to just all in Ahri under tower, she ults immediately to safety, then as he pops up behind her charms Zed with a follow up AA Q ignite. He dies to tower shot DMG as well.
There are many clips of videos similar to this one, where Ahri capitalizes on Zed's over aggressive mistakes. But takes far too much time to gif them. And most Ahri outplays if not all of the outplays are usually done by Ahri mains or skilled players. I've seen so many people think Ahri is good vs Zed and die before lvl 6 1v1 vs a Skilled zed or died post 6 because they point blank dont know how to charm or missed it all together and didn't use flash or ult wisely to dodge his Q or E. So in the end, practice goes along way. This isn't a match up you can just pick Ahri or zed into Ahri or Zed and expect to win. You have to know what your doing. At least in higher elos...
