Time to put defense as a secondary "rune," because I'm tired of being shit stomped on five minutes into the game with no armor or magic resist. Even my mid laners, I dont' care. Getting resolve and seeing how it goes cause I'm sick and tired of this shit.

I do think it's ridiculous how little defences you have going into the game.
My thinking is that Riot thought stripping away flat MR/Armour would make squishy, high damage champions weaker in lane. Instead it just makes them do more damage. Or some sort of backwards logic.
The damage creep when they started tweaking with masteries the first time around, was absurd. Electrocute makes Thunderlord's Decree the equivalent of a wet noodle fight, and that isn't even the biggest problem rune.
i try resolve secondary vs things like zed and kat mid but i find that it does not make me survive fights any easier. Nullifying Orb is good and i think the shield should be adaptive of whatever damage u are taking and not just an copy&Paste of Hexdrinker but unless u are building both hp and resist the defensive runes dont really do much
Tbh right now the only way to outplay the high damage is with more damage (as someone else already said, defenses dont help that much). Thats why my standard 
build has gone from 
and situational last tanky item to 
and finishing off w/ tank items.
Defense doesn't help that much, sorry.
