People have been complaining about it for years, how games keep getting shorter and shorter.
But everyone has given up, because Riot doesn't want to. They like to keep the games short because of $$$. The philosophy behind it is "If we get more people to play more games we can get more satisfactory results." Because you the average player forgets the bad games, and only remembers the good ones. No one goes out to their friends to say "Guys, I went 0/4/4! and we lost!" Everyone will go out and say "Yeah, I went 12/2/4 and shit stomped the enemy team."
Even though adding more time into a game would give more room to balance champions, items, and runes. And what I mean by that is lets take the two extremes of 10 minute games, and 60 minute games.
At 10 minutes, you probably aren't going to be running Grasp and most likely will only pick runes that instantly benefit you. Meaning that the hunters are probably going to be useless. Champions that require time to scale and not level are never going to be picked, and there is no reason to not pick an early game champion.
Where as if games end at 60 minutes, you probably will only see scaling champion, and everyone takes gathering storm.
But currently it feels like games end at around 20-25 minutes. Because when they added turret plating they also added gold onto that plating, which only went against the whole idea of plates.
I can go on and on about how just simply adding 5 more minutes to the average game length would allow so much change for the game. But it will fall on deaf ears, because Riot only cares about revenue. NA and KR have always liked longer games, while CN and EU have always liked shorter games.
