If they are limiting themselves to only ranked, it's THEIR problem.

New champions and reworks should NOT be in ranked the first week. Not only because players don't know how to play them, but also their opponents don't know how to play against them. You're basically forcing a ban or forcing them to have played the PBE.

Man, Riot, you guys do a lot of great things, but sometimes it feels like you lack common sense.

Don't play ranked if YOU are uncomfortable against new champions

I think you have a better argument to say that "your teammates don't know how to play with them" instead of "your opponent doesn't know how to play against them."

If my opponent doesn't know how to play against a pick that I happen to know how to play, I am at a significant advantage, .. and in a way, so is my team. ... but if my teammates don't know my strengths and weaknesses, I am putting them at a disadvantage.

Still though, the same thing happened when Tank Viktor started getting played top lane a few weeks ago. The two buffs that put him into the position to be played this way took place back in 8.3 and 8.11 respectively. That was plenty of time for players to get used to these changes, but when he became a meta pick top, people still didn't know what to do about it.

So making there is no reason to believe that players are going to be any better at playing as, with, or against new / reworked champions after 7 days.

I mean sometimes when I play ranked in Diamond or Platinum or Gold I feel as if I have teammates playing their like 10th game ever of league. I really don't think this is as big of an issue as you think it is. Some champions are easy enough to lear in like 1 game. Other may take 100 or more. You can't set an arbitrary number before you can play a game as a new champion. Players are the problem not the content.
