Mages in the bot lane is actually a great idea

But I'm confused as to why we selected Juggernauts instead of mage hypercarries like Ryze or Cass for that role. Does anyone else share the opinion that would work better? I like that they're mixing things up, but these are pretty major changes to Morde.

Theoretically, they aren't putting Morde bot because he's a strong carry, but because he's strong against carries. Ryze, Cass, and Azir bot all work perfectly well and are basically AP marksmen, but Morde isn't supposed to be a replacement for a marksman. Morde is supposed to be the champion that doesn't give a rip about being stuck in a duo lane or being stuck in a ranged dominant lane because of his strong pushing and self sustain and anti-poke shield. Basically, Morde is designed to be an ADCs worst nightmare, assuming he has someone with CC who's able to lock his target down for him.

In theory, it's a stroke of genius!

Practically, they gutted everything about him that would make him ideal for the task at hand, leaving him undoubtedly outclassed and 100% useless. nobody cares if you outlevel the enemy if you can't actually all in at 6 because you get kited to death. Nobody cares if you have a potent max shield strength if you can't get it to stack in the first place. nobody cares if you can eat poke if all you're doing is being a bit annoying and forcing your DPS into a solo lane.

If they wanted morde to be a duo later, that's absolutely fine, just they actually have to know wtf they're doing when they try to make him adjust to it.

The problem with Morde being forced bot lane is that if it's strong it's the kind of thing that gets nerfed out of viability because it warps the entire meta.

If it's not strong everyone ignores it.

This is exactly my problem with it. Since he's a juggernaut, giving him the ability to shut down the enemy carry just seems... completely op. It allows for a full tank party with massive damage on the side. So it'll be broken until they nerf it, and then he'll be useless.

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

always wondered why the meta is how it is, kind of shows me how easily people are influenced. Im sure someone will come in here and write a page to you about how supports are a must; but id be willing to bet that winrates would stay the same if you played other champs sup. But this is coming from a sup main who only plays sup meta champs.

Well, I could write you a page about how the meta came to be. That's not uncommon knowledge for people who have been around awhile. But the upshot of that discussion is that every lane is dependent on other lanes to define its meta.

The reason tanks are popular top and jungle is because tanks aren't played bot or mid, etc.

And, as others have mentioned, adcs are important for late game sustained damage. They are the carries. But that's exactly my point; if we have ranged, AP carries, they should be interchangeable, at least in some cases. I just don't know that I think Morde is the right champ for that.

The marksmen/ADC need their farm and someone to stall the enemy so they can get kills or be healed so they don't die.

Ryze bot would work if his rune prison didn't last such a short time

I'm talking about Ryze instead of the carry. They stated that's what they're doing to Morde. They want him to be picked instead of a marksman, and I'm asking the question, "why pick a juggernaut for that?"

I've often wondered if Cassiopeia could work as APC bot lane. The reason you need an ADC in the first place is safe sustained dps, and Cass can provide that albeit with some mana constraints. As long as you have AD elsewhere it wouldn't make the team imbalanced, either.

Can you imagine the Cass+Soraka bot lane if Soraka still had mana infuse? Woah.

Honestly I don't expect it would be that good. Cass has a truly terrible level 1, any bully lane would have a ball with her if her support wasn't able to exert serious pressure immediately. I am thinking Leona, Thresh or Blitz would be the best match for her.

Oh yeah, I only meant for her early mana problems. You're probably right though.
