Why are poppy cooldowns so high?

Q: 8 seconds at level 1. . extremely situational, absolutely no damage if target isn't hit into wall Does nothing if an enemy LITERALLY starts walking away. W: 24 seconds . . 30% movement speed increase... and probably 4 armor / mr E: 14 seconds.. extremely sitational again, usually shoves target and they get away anyways Passive : 16 seconds, for a 15% shield that might be picked up? again extremely situational, really only used to harass in lane lol Wind up ultimate.. again extremely easy to dodge, and SLOWS HER?

Running grasp on poppy for passive procs is worse than running Grasp gangplank. Aftershock - her E Q set up isn't very impactful (Look at Galio)

Her laning phase is weak Her jungle is slow, with very weak ganks (no follow ups for missed stuns) For her to even effectively trade in a 1v1 takes all of her mana Base health is very low for a tank Her defensive spell doesn't really do anything? (Doesn't negate flash and I have yet to see it block dashes lol) Poor wave clear For some reason her Ult has reduced physical damage.

I don't even know where to go for BUFFS.

Poppy cant be good during lcs season because she hard counters big dick lee sin plays.

Probably because she trades reliable hard CC (outside of her uncharged ult) for damage. She's basically what would happen if a fighter and a tank had a baby. She's an exact mixture of the two. Not to mention Poppy usually builds CDR with items like Iceborn/Triforce, Visage etc.

What does building CDR have to do with anything? Every single top laner goes for BC. Riven just spiked up to 53% winrates, and that's with a very tough mechanical champ to learn.

Q: 13 seconds (3 casts) W: 11 seconds (aoe stun, not singular like poppy) E: 10 seconds (no mana cost + passive damage on auto attack)

So every time a Riven casts a stun, poppy casts Q basically. Then she is brutally outscaled thanks to Rivens 100% ad to shield ratio.

Even Garen's W drastically outclasses poppy.

How about we reword your post to Garen instead of Poppy?

Probably because GAREN trades reliable hard CC (outside of his ult) for damage. He's basically what would happen if a fighter and a tank had a baby. He's an exact mixture of the two. Not to mention Garen usually builds CDR with items like Black Cleaver, Spirit Visage etc.

Garen is nothing of the sort. He has no hard CC he has a pitiful silence. Poppy actually has utility. A lot of her kit's power is placed in her point and click displacement and her ability to stop dashes and the fact that Poppy is fully capable of killing squishy targets while building tank.

bro as a fellow poppy main if you're complaining about this you're doing it wrong.

you use q for CS to stack grasp and then shield smack them, or q when you know they're going for a CS. its melee ranged, but its still a skill shot. treat it as such.

you don't use W for the move speed unless you're initiating a gank, its for making sure someone cant just dash away after an E, making sure you're not gapclosed on, or use it once you exit a trade to be sure you cant be retaliated on. and stubborn to a fault makes you lots more tanky then most people would expect.

you dont always need the stun to win the trade, E-Q-AA walk away is perfectly fine.

passive synergizes with shield bash, and if you take revitalize its even better for trading. side note it doesnt always have to be the attack to proc grasp. legit once you have about 2 stacks you can go in and use it in a full rotation.

her laning is objectively stronger then most because time warp tonic, buiscuits, and corrupting pot. you're literally an ornn in sustain but with actual kill pressure.

first clear is a bit slow, but ganks work fine. max fun if you take electrocute.

if you're not blocking dashes youre using it too early, or too often, or arent predicting them very well.

waveclear is actually better compared to most other toplaners due to AoE q

ult is only reduced damage if you tap for the quick knock up

If she could sustain in lane she would be fine. Cooldowns are not a problem for poppy... At level 5, her Q cooldown is 6 seconds. At level 8, it is 4 seconds. When you add 40% CDR to it, then it becomes a 2.4 second cooldown.

An ability that has the potential to deal 240 + 16% of a target's max health that is on a 2.4 second cooldown is not weak.

If Poppy simply had some kind of means to sustain in lane vs bad matchups (most matchups), then she would be incredibly strong.

assuming we're talking about toplane poppy, MOST sustain problems can be solved by starting corrupting pot, with biscuit delivery and TWT, and taking revitalize assuming you take resolve primary.

Strong damage, more situational CC, ranged auto passive, high burst combo, works well with item 3025 item 3071 item 3078 item 3067 etc
