Sejuani is 6-2-4 and is able to dive my 3-2-7 Vel'koz from 100% health under a turret
While eating everything and missing her ult, and still gets out with 60% of her health.
This season is really amazing.

You fucking suck at Vel'Koz then
You have a replay system If you're gonna complain about this shit then post a video of it happening
cool story bro
well clearly she is ahead of velkoz and might have alot of items and resistances and velkoz might not have the damage or the items yet to be a threat to her
but sure lets not take anything into context but TANKS ARE BROKEN AND BLAH BLAH BLAH

Her only MR item was a Cowl. Tanks should not be able to make zero risk dives on immobile casters, eat every skill shot, miss their ult, and get out with a significant amount of health, period.

how much HP did she have, runes? masteries ? all of that takes account
what kind of items did velkoz have? did velkoz hit all of her abilities? there are alot of MISSING INFORMATION
Mages are probably the weakest role right now. Riot even said MR itemization is too strong right now.

when and where did they say that?
and if the OP states all sej had was
thats only 25 mr soo its not liek she had stacked MR ...
so the fact that you wanna say "MR ITEMIZATION IS TOO STRONG" having 25 from an item isnt that strong...
What's the thinking on why such an item's needed? If anything I'd be more concerned about MR itemization potentially being too powerful, or CDR too broadly found. Can see the desire to be able to buy it in game on some champs, but I'm missing a clear argument for why it'd be good for the item system overall.
MR itemization potentially being too powerful
that dont mean they say it is... they say there could be the potential that it is... but in the same statement they say that CDR IS TOO BROADLY FOUND... which well mages want 40-45% cdr so they can spam spells
He was commenting to someone who asked for Tank items to get CDR. He was not talking about APC itemization. Please read everything well please.
Comment of someone:
Could we get a Magic Resistance & Cooldown Reduction component item for Abyssal Mask and Adaptive Helm, please?
^ The reason Riot will say MR items may potentially be too powerful also means that they think Mages are too weak right now.
mages arent weak ... we have had this conversation where majority of the champs in mid lane with the most damage per game and win rates are mages ... it was your thread ...
mages got set back a bit when the assassin ad meta came with the buffs to lethality ... and riot did buff the base mr on alot of champs to a scaling mr of 53 in game instead of the flat 30. but thats not cuz MR is broken... and once again the OP even stated sej only had a spectral cowl when she dove the velkoz and that only gives 25 mr
but we dont know what items velkoz had at that point... and lets not forget its a sej jungle so she had at least cinderhulk built. most likely mr runes, and spectral cowl ... so she had alot of HP andnot only that the passive of cowl where she get the hp regen when damaged.
and she took damage... he said she left with 60% of hp... so she lost 2/5ths of her hp on the dive.
and if you go look at the game in question velkoz with 3 items as a mage out damage every one by 4500 damage to champs. only having
as their items
so how are mages weak when the mage who is behind in items and kills ( gold) only has 3 completed items out damage every one in the game?
and if you know of Yenn and their typical post its after a titled game where something didnt go liek they wanted ... and they complain this is or that is OP/broken ... hence the post here.
Riot saying mr itemization might be too strong is really strong indicator for Riot saying Mages are not doing so well. Riot will never say so if Mages are strong or fine.

velkoz while only have 3 items and being behind in that game still did the most damage ...
they arent that weak... lets stop with the nonsense
I don't know, go argue with Riot. Not me. Ask them "Why do you guys think MR itemization might be too strong?"
Well Mr stops the same amount of damage per point that armor does but physical damage is done with dis most of the time while magic is burst the exception is dps mages but now there's helm so basically Mr does way more than armor does to stop damage since there isnt a constant flow to counteract the resists

The problem is how much free health they get, combined with their mobility and damage, and the fact that AP carries have no way to itemize against them without committing a massive amount of gold that provides no intermediate power.
Health is just as effective against AP as MR is.
If Sejuani can 100 to 0 me in 7 seconds, I'm only getting one and a half rotations off, and that's maybe 1/4 of her health. This would be fine if I had made a mistake and let her get in range of me, but the problem here is that she can literally just barrel down mid range, eat everything, and still connect with me, without even landing her main engagement tool.
Not surprising considering magic pen is very hard to come by, and even the void/pthoughts combo doesn't do as much as it probably should to help a mage deal with champions who have loaded up on MR. Case in point, a tank with 200 MR (33% of damage gets through) will only have that reduced to 116MR (46% of damage gets through) with the void/pthoughts combo, meaning just an increase of 13% of the original damage amount or 39% of the after-MR damage amount. Should be a bit more than that IMO.
(Edit - some of the numbers were a bit off.)

well considering all mages take flat magic pen runes, then they get magic pen in masteries, they get sorcery to amplify their spells by 2% and then either death fire's touch or thunderlords amplifying their magic damage as well , then they get sorc shoes which has 15 flat magic pen ... so they start with typically 23 flat magic pen then 7% from runes ... then we can add in
which is 35% magic pen...
so now they have 23 flat magic pen and 42% magic pen they have it so hard... let alone the 40-45% cdr with all the mana regen in their items to constantly spam spells.
6-2 is better than 3-2.
A Shadow Assassin Kayn could WQ you at that score, count yourself lucky you got to react at all.
Mages weakest role kek.
Try tank supports and bruisers.
That's interesting. Can you post a clip?
