Disagree if you want, I'm having fun learning the new Mordekaiser.

Heartfelt thank you for making a champion I love and giving him all sorts of new opportunities.

I honestly am enjoying the new rework (although I'm awful at playing him right now) and love the general direction.

Is it new? Yes. Is it intimidating? Yes.

Am I having fun? Yes.

This patch is awesome.

Good for you. Unfortunately for us Mord players pre-rework (season 3 player here) it sucks that we get a gimped ability while not in bot lane and have our E damage cut in half for the first two levels and then have 95 less base damage when maxed.

The rework was interesting and I am giving it a chance (was playing him on PBE as well) but he still has the same issues he had before. Bad early game, easily kitable (now more kitable with the MS nerfs) hard to CS (his AS got destroyed), and then placed into a lane that is very difficult to stay in for him (poke is one of his big weaknesses? We should place him where two enemies can poke him now).

Ye they didnt really solve his weakness to poke, in fact they made it worse by removing one of his ranged abilities. Now he is forced into a situation or else he loses his W. Honestly i know he can be good because ive seen people use him very successfully but i feel its a bit situational.

I have had success on him both PBE and live already, so that is not out of the question. The issue is that once you get an enemy adc that is half decent mechanically you are kind of screwed. I see Mord winrate and playrate dropping big time over the next week since most people will figure out how to play against him and realize he is easily bullied out of lane. He does not have the sustained damage that ADC's have, and is just too easily kited.

Yea i have seen quite a few successful Mordes, just not me. I would agree but people can also find out how to actually use him. I see so many different builds and playstyles being used with him and only a few are actually working, we need to pinpoint why.

I think his build is based more on the enemy lane compared to other champions. That he is more "forced" into building certain items. I have attempted to stick with the same build for most of my games and there have been some matchups where it works really well, while others it just fails hard. I would say by the end of this week there will be a more "concrete" build path (most likely 2-3 different paths depending on the enemy team) that will come out.

He's binary as hell.

Can you land three Qs?

Contratz you win the game.

Can you not land three Qs?

Go fuck yourself 100% loss.

Whether he's fun or not is a different story, but I don't think that's good design.

Old Mordekaiser was heaps more fun to be honest.

I'm only playing the new one because I like the character, but I'm not going to give Riot any props for it

As someone who played a lot of and enjoyed the old Morde...

I'd agree. It's something new, something interesting, and I kinda like seeing big numbers pop up. Granted, I've only played him bot lane with a support and not in a solo lane (one of my personal issues with the rework) and I only tend to face people in Silver and Gold, but I've been having a lot of success there. I don't think it's going to be successful in the long run (mainly because he's arguably more toxic than ever), but I'm also going to enjoy the champion while I can.

RIP old Morde, I'll miss you, but I'm not going to throw away an opportunity to get acquainted with this new, similar champion.

He feels completely out of place with a purpose unknown.

Positive post breath of fresh air. ^^

I believe the problem is not that he is bad. (Because he isn't.)

His rework follows the same problem people had with Karma's, they play really different now.

Now, I'm only guessing this since I don't ever play Mordekaiser, but that seems to be what people are talking about.

I am really trying to have fun but i am not doing something right, idk what it is but i keep losing pretty badly. What happens is i walk up to the first enemy to hit them and boom im dead. I dont know how to solve this other then build tanky, but then i dont do a lot of damage. His Q does a lot but if you cant hit them then i might as well be a walking kill.

How are you building him to make him fun? I was having fun at first but that died after a few games of constantly being useless.

item 1054 -> item 1001 -> item 3044 -> item 3116 -> item 3111 -> item 3078 -> item 3053 -> item 3102 -> item 3742

With some variation depending on enemy team. DMP first over Banshee's if they're mostly AD, if by some miracle you can afford Rylai's after your first back (or most of its components), get it over the Phage, if they're low CC, get Ninja Tabi or Swiftness instead of Mercs. Max Q first in lane, be patient with your engages and look to set up ambushes or follow up on your allies' CC. Then try to make sure your third Q lands on a squishy target instead of a tank and you can possibly just force the squishy out of the fight or get a kill.

Stephenizgod1 votes

Hmm thats somewhat similar to my build at first but the you start building tank. I guess thats where im failing cuz i with his passive i didnt think i needed tank. I'm still trying to play him as old morde, but that dont work it would seem. Ty ima try him again, ima keep at it till i can solo carry to challenger with him >:I

Adrian Umbra1 votes

They nuked his shield generation, so your best chance to survive fights with him is to have some bulk for a larger shield (generated mostly with his E). On top of that, his ratios for his Q are ludicrous enough that building large amounts of AD or AP is fairly wasteful. If I were to add another offensive item in there, delaying Gage (if you're ahead) for a Void Staff or buying it instead of one of the defensive items would give you a huge amount of increased offensive power.

Stephenizgod1 votes

:( it seems the problem is me, no matter what i do or build i fail hardcore...

Teémò1 votes

i just find it bizzare, because as a bot laner he is completely reliant on his support/ marksman however you play morde and so if the support marksman or another laner dc's someone has to fill that role and it will often be the support rather then the jungler. it actually happened in a pbe game i had no idea of his new skills so although I poked the enemy mordekaiser mostly out once i left to destroy both the mid and top he just became a walking pile of meat. to be honest it really bothers me though because supports need to roam :P
