Little white bars in my chat?

I play at a LAN center a lot and in game I'll find my chat is replaced by little white bars when I type. I am assuming it's set to accept a different language keyboard or something as it's an Asian hangout, but how do I get chat back to normal?

Just press the button that normally changes your language, like for me from Korean to English would be [Alt]
