stat binding revisited?

i remember at some point, can't recall the exact time, where riot wanted to adjust base stats for most champs and 'bind' certain subgroups to certain stats (juggers to health, tanks to resists, etc.). i thought this was a decent idea but they mentioned having trouble figuring out 'how' to implement it

i came up with a concept where there'd be, like, secondary stats to buy that would provide you with primary stats, and that turned out to be really similar to how dota2 does it with their attribute system so i'm gonna use their attributes for my example of it, using a strength/agility/intelligence system where Strength gives you health, agility gives you armor (or we could change this to attack speed if we desired), and intelligence gives you mana or ability power or something equivalent

strength would be for bruisers and tanks agility for assassins and marksmen intelligence for mages and supports

and if one of these stats is your primary stat, you get a bonus for building it (dota gives you 1 AD for every point you have of your primary attribute, I'll use that just for this example)

and this would let us 'soft-bind' items to champions by gating some of their power to champions with attributes. just going off one of the more popular examples for items people want limited, we could say that Black Cleaver, instead of offering AD and health, now offers a value of Strength and Health. So, what this would mean is that if a marksman (agility) champion buys this item, they can enjoy the benefits of its health and passives, but not the AD. And you could do something with Sterak's, too, so that a non-bruiser can buy it for its shield like release sterak's, but they won't enjoy it as a hybrid item, only a defensive pick-up.

Likewise we could restat Zeal and maybe Lethality items to grant agility, which means we could have the opportunity to rework crit to make way for marksmen and assassins gaining AD and armor in addition to what the items already offer.

Intelligence is pretty self-explanatory

some suggestions on which items could go to whom

strength item 3071 item 3053 item 3022 agility item 3086 + upgrades, item 3134 + upgrades intelligence - item 3003 item 3504 e t c

and then we could have items that just offer the stats, i.e item 3077 upgrades are unchanged, item 3107 unchanged, so that some item overlap still exists, and we could also create many more items without as much worry that unintended buyers will break it

idk, im tired
