Why do people have it in their heads that Aatrox does poorly vs ranged laners?
The champs that beat him during laning are (overloaded) bruisers and lucian. And lucian barely has an advantage over him. Less than 100g at 15 mins.
Statistically, he does VERY well into every ranged champion except lucian and gnar.

If you're gunna say "MUH WINRATES", Aatrox has a very low winrate overall, and even compensating for that fact, he's a pretty terrible teamfighter without a significant lead due to his Q animation times.
Did you expect him to dump on almost every top laner and scale well too?
Kind of a tangent, but:
Aatrox's winrates are terrible because his teamfighting is terrible and he doesn't scale as well as most split-pushers. Aatrox isn't "weak", his power curve and design just don't move toward winning games unless you can just plow over people.
Aatrox needs a mini-rework so he can function better in teamfights or as a split-pusher, lowering his early laning presence as compensation. Just buffing him in any way right now means he becomes more overbearing early, or he'll have a very strong early and scale well too.
