"Im a support it doesn't matter if Im 1/10 and keep getting caught out"

LegitBacon66··20 votes·1,919 views

If you're a support. Please do not say that you dying doesn't matter. IT DOES MATTER. You might not be worth gold, but you're still giving it and we lose a heavy amount of cc and its automaic 4v5. So as a support please do not play careless and abuse your power of "oh im a support im supposed to constantly die to protect the ADC". No you have to Stay alive to protect the ADC not die after getting caught out. Pleas play support more meaningfully. Thank you.

My last game I was Cho top against a Vlad. The enemy jungler ganked early and Vlad tower dove for a kill. I let the team know I was probably going to lose my lane and suggested that they assist me. I was ganked 4 more times, died twice and lost my tower without seeing our jungler. I didn't blame the jungler, I admit is was my own fault. If I can't hold my lane then that's my bad. I just wish our jungler would have at least came up and showed presence once or twice. I understand that junglers have a lot to do and you can't go back and forth ganking the whole game, but by the time I get ganked 4 times, if you haven't showed up once and we haven't taken any towers or dragons there is an issue.

Also as a support, we do die. If our adc overextends and we can trade their lives for ours, it's usually beneficial to do so. Most of my deaths as support are from saving my teammates. I agree that I shouldn't just run off and suicide but it sounds like your against me protecting my team.

The OP isn't talking about that kind of support. He means the nami that flash ult's into a group of 5 and follows up with a bubble, and then after all her cc, she just collapse on her and she winks out of existance. A sustain cc support acting like leona with no ping or warning.

She didn't die protecting anyone. She threw herself and all her spells at the enemy and was confident to say that was all they had to do. Which is the OP's points. That attitude is not healthy. Dieing to save someone , either by body blocking a skill shot or staying behind to CC and peel, is honorable. Please, keep doing that. I honor supports that put themselves on the line for the team.

But sometimes we get supports that think and feel like Rambo when they need to be acting like Otacon or Zed (Of the Durandal, not Zed from LoL )

LegitBacon663 votes

Exactly what I am talking about. Support engages without set up and doesn't fight with the rest of the team dying

Ale non è male3 votes

If Nami really hit 4-5 people with an ulti and then follow up with a successful bubble and you lost the fight, it could also mean you were slow to react though Not saying that this is what happens all the time, but it can go either way, at times it is right that some support tend to overextend, but other times instead they were doing good plays but the team did not follow

LegitBacon661 votes

Yes yes of course but that engage happens when everyone is too far off.

What's more annoying is when you're 1/10/30 and people ignore the assists you have.

Yeah I'm dying. But we're getting a quadra every time.

It's like people that play Jungle and have an excuse for everything. If they didn't gank either you were too pushed in (wether you are or are not) they can't gank behind you are behind, or they won't gank bc you are "ahead" or they need to farm until 6.

If they die during a gank, or don't ping going in, they blame you for no map awareness. They will take the wolf camp while you and mid ping and fight at dragon pit trying to contest and then he'll go top to clear a wave.

If they die invading or get caught out it's bc you didn't come with them, ect, ect.

These are examples and no not every game and team has these kind of people. But out of all the roles the jungle role seems to be the one more frequented by people that think it's a fautless role. Like you say a support that plays recklessly "because I'm support" Or an ADC that positions poorly, gets caught out, and solo pushes a lane ignoring pings to group, gets ganked, dies, THEN BLAMES TEAM for not being there, usually the support gets the brute of it.

Graves can walk up and get blitz/jinx'd and blame the Soraka that JUST healed him, literally just cast the Heal, and didn't have it on CD immediately. The mid will rage if he gets ganked by top or bot, even though he should have river bushes warded against enemy jungler. Which if he does protects him from top and bot. Ect, ect, there's some for top too but basically, feels for the OP.

seriously dont blame the jungler.

we straight up cant help you sometimes, you need to get that. i cant towerdive without armor, yes your laner is at 1hp, its a shame he hasn't used his stun or flash yet and you want to towerdive him when were both sub half health. oh whats that? he just 2v1'd us? how many kills did you give him in the first 5minutes of the game. (or you let your opponent push, free farm, and roam and got kills in other lanes and you didnt ward or ping he was missing or danger for an adjacent lane).

theres so much more to jungle than just ganking, vision is everything and so is positioning. you dont see positioning the same way a jungler does. if we aren't on top of or in cc range, theres nothing we can do for you, so you need to do something or nothing will happen. its like an udyr running up the lane to your laner vs him going from mid wolves entrance to tribrush to behind the top laner and getting a free stun off.

most important questions junglers ask is "is this brush warded, do they know im coming, can they converge on us"

its the same thing as support, its not that they get "caught out" its a total team lack of vision control and the fact that the support is the only one attempting to ward in neutral territories at dragon/baron/river, and that the enemy team just has control over these things already. the support isn't dieing protecting the carry, hes dieing warding and theres nothing you can do when the enemy team is in your jungle taking camps and placing even more wards. at that point it becomes you cant leave lane without risking death and you guys are all still in your respective lanes not grouped and since they're fed they have an easy time 1v1ing you guys.

Faith Breaker1 votes

You assumed I'm blaming the jungler......ok. What did I blame the jungler for? You missed the entire point of my post. I was bringing up other situations and comparing them to the one you posted. In a "Yeah I know how you feel" kind of way. And you just go off the grip white knighting like I'm some foul mouthed beast? I didn't say anything about you "blaming the support"

I agreed with you. Where did you find it in your personality to turn this into an argument that has nothing to do with what I was talking about?

Father Cthulhu1 votes

The simple fact of the matter is that you were badmouthing junglers for actual, viable excuses. The way you act and talk about junglers pretty much implies that you haven't played a day of jungling in your life, or you're a bad jungler.

Faith Breaker1 votes

So you're justifying doing the exact same thing you imply I'm doing. Pot, keattle.

Father Cthulhu1 votes

Badmouthing is more along the lines of slinging four letter words your way, or spewing out nonsense that's not always true in order to give a negative outlook on a group of people(See: Your original post).

MVDuneCats1 votes

It's not just a jungler thing. It's always easier to blame someone else, and we're all creative enough to make it sound reasonable.

You shouldn't blame the Jungler we have to worry about so much crap, we have to babysit your lanes, we have to worry about our camps, our income, drag control, baron control, helping the supports out in vision, having successful ganks, knowing to smite on time, knowing if we have a strong level 1 comp for a invade to get a cheese first blood, so many things while all you have to do is cs and try your best to not give kills to the enemy.

You have to understand that sometimes i have had games were i got 5 dragons for my team a baron and ganked every lane and there have been games where i haven't even gotten my first clear and every lane just lost, in those situations we really can't help you, next time you want to blame your jungler maybe ask yourself if you are the problem why your jungler just doesn't want to waste his time helping you out.

I jungle alot, and I'm talking about the junglers that don't know how to jungle and use legit excuses to excuse the legit mistakes they make. This thus puts a bad image on the good jungles. I'm not bad mouthing junglers. I jungle. Alot. It baffles me the total lack of reading comprehension some people have.

I am not on a high horse. If English is not your native language then you shouldn't be so quick to jump down someone's throat and judge them. Don't try to strawman me because you feel embaressed because you're wrong. You don't even know me. You shouldn't really care what I think.

You misunderstood something I said, I clarified what I meant. That's all it is.

Then there's the other side of the coin, where us supports get caught because the enemy ADC and support are pushing and our ADC doesn't back up. They happily LH farm while we get chased all the way back to tower and we die, and then the ADC dies and is mad at us for not healing. You know. When they're still farming minions in the same spot, after their support has already died.

Or, or, how about when our ADC dives and we move in to save them because they're at like 38 health and they think "I can totally take the full health enemy support, I mean, it's not like an autoattack will kill me!" And then we die.

Sometimes, that death score isn't telling on its own. If that support was 1/10/25 and the game is 10-15 minutes in, then I think they should keep doing what they're doing. Especially if their ADC is 23/5/x.

LegitBacon661 votes

Its the adc thats supports hate and its the support that hates the adc but they both need eachother to function in a game well. Usually its more than 60% of the time the support isn't doing well. I do understand though some adcs can be very bad and the support angry. Its a lot of stress

MVDuneCats4 votes

{quoted} Usually its more than 60% of the time the support isn't doing well.

Is that because support is a harder role to learn? Or because weaker players are attracted to support? Or because you can pull statistics out of thin air without any evidence to back it up?

Baron of Bread3 votes

It's probably because people tend not to main support, so you are more likely to get a support who didn't want to be one than an ADC who didn't want it.

Hinro Honato1 votes

supporting ain't easy.

Though I will say it's usually an unmatching play style on bot. I've picked aggro supports when the adc refuses to ever poke the enemy and other times where I go passive and the adc is a psychopath. supporting is hard.

BeatzBoyFTW3 votes

Dear ADCs,

just because I picked Soraka or Braum, it does not signify a free ticket to:

  • getting hooked 24/7.
  • ignoring all kinds of pokes.

Keep improving that behaviour, Ill just go support top lane.

Sincerely, your frustrated support

Ya you're running into them all by yourself and baiting them into killing you. How's that working out?

If the person has more than 25 assists the the person has the right to say that, but in this the person is feeding.

FUCKING YES!

I have a friend who is bronze II (but he is still a friend and so i play with him ocassionally). And hes like "it doesnt fucking matter if i have 10 deaths, i have 14 assists, and therefore as a support im positive."

God, he gets my blood boiling when he talks like his deaths dont matter when they are all easily avoidable.

Thought you'd guys appreciate what someone with that attitudes profile looks like.

http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/27599166#profile

pay close attention to his stats. He doesnt have a single champion with a positive K/D ratio.

If I get caught out I use my entire burst to try to get away. Then I use my entire burst again if I haven't gotten away.

Leona it's difficult to die when playing tank, and I love it.

If you're playing ranked and somebody gets shoved into support, half the time they're not going to be good at support. I play ADC all the time, but hardly ever to I see a support main in ranked. The majority DO do this. The majority ARE NOT GOOD SUPPORTS. It's sad and it sucks, but because the support doesn't really get that fame and glory quite like the other roles do. I always make a habit of thanking my support when he's a good one, and every time he saves my life/sets up a kill for me.

Tl;dr Most supports suck cause nobody mains them, and most of the bad ones do this.

My rule of thumb as a support is that dying in lane is worth if my ADC survives a gank/kill attempt. In midgame, a death is worth it if we can take 2-3 kills off of it or take an objective. If I die as support and hit tab to see my name is red above three enemies names' in red, then I know it was a good trade.

Lwnt1 votes

Ok why dont you tell us the amount of assist this person have. If the person has more than 20 then this person have the right to say that. What the point of telling us the kills of a support when our goal is not to get kills. Tell us the assist which the person should have the most of .

LegitBacon661 votes

Less than 10. Yes assisting your team by going In at random times or getting caught out and your team loses the fight. This is almost 80% of the supports with below 30% kill participation.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

Dude if your support said that, then they were probably a last pick mid/adc main or something.

Lugg1 votes

While dying is always a bad thing, there are times as a support it isn't so bad. Having to place wards is always dangerous with the chance of running into one or more people. I always take one in lane for my ADC if he/she gets caught out and will probably die. It's always better IMHO for the support to die than a carry. The carry needs to stay in lane and keep farming and putting out damage. Honestly, out of everyone on your team, isn't the support the most expendable 90% of the time?

MVDuneCats1 votes

I had a game last night where I was waiting in the brush as Leona in bot and Draven started to come toward me. He was probably in the process of putting down a ward as I used my E on him. He immediately dropped the ward right next to where he was. He was probably trying to dodge, and instead placed his ward on the spot he was trying to move to. He died shortly thereafter.

I felt so bad for him. I've done stupid stuff like that before, and it feels so embarrassing.

to be fair, by the time they died 10 times they really aren't worth anything.

still, obv don't die for no reason lol

If you make your support upset, don't expect them to tag with you. They have responsibilities to their other teammates as well.
