Hethalean2 votesBecome the Jayce. PICK HIM FIRST! Other than that... Sion/Ekko/Nautilus/Trundle counter Jayce fairly well. You'll probably need to play the matchups to understand why each kit works well against them. A big thing about Jayce is to not die early. If you go even in lane, you basically won it. Jayce needs early leads.
Brain Errör 4042 votesSee, there's a huge problem with this. "The big thing about Jayce is not to die early". If you're a melee champ, that means giving up on a big chunk of CS. When I play vs Jayce (being a Riven main and all) I end up 40cs behind him almost every game. If I don't get ganks, the lane is over. Even if I'm 3+ kills ahead of him, I still have to thread waters, because for whatever reason, he's still capable of 1v1ing me.
A Doorknob2 votesStay behind minions. Don't hug em just get em to block for you. Go earlier than usual for CS to try and fake him out in using abilities. He's got poor mana sustain early game. If he uses his mana all he's got is auto attacks. Low mana is usually a good time to engage as long as you can manage some form of minion control or avoid beig attacked by his minions. If he attacks you with melee stay within your minion back line so your minions hit him. You're going to have to play the game of patience with Jayce. Best time to engage is either with help of JG or when he's low mana. Also avoid being kited. Just do what you have to do when you engage unless you think you can kill him. Once you have dominance over lane, avoid letting him get control back until he bases.
That is all I got for you. This is how I've manage to do so when I land top lane against him.

I don't main top. I don't have all the answers, all I have is that. I assume you got a head in between your shoulders, experiment with builds and or champs. Pick Olaf and toss axes at him. Pick Vlad and Q for days. Pick Galio and go ZZ-Rot first item. The strategy I told you, I was using Tryndamere and I went BOTRK first item and won. I cannot give you all the answers. You have to learn to do that on your own. I can only give you some form of guide but It isn't going to work 100% of the time, you'll have to get better and learn to adapt your play style and your builds.

Then just do what you normally do.
But also, try to not first pick anything that doesn't waveclear well from a relative distance.

ßurst1 votesYou have to let him push you in and dont go for any cs early. its like playing against a quinn, why would you cs early against a quinn. it works the same way. Also you grab a dorans shield and wait out lane phase at 6 back grab your items he loses to most champs at lvl 6

Matake1 votesA mixture of hp regen and armor. His poke is physical damage. His trade become %hp damage in physical damage and he's got an aura that deals magic damage if you're melee. He can also slow you when you try to escape so you do not win if you're melee basically unless you can out trade his damage and try to bait him.

i play pantheon with ignite...just keep spearing him, jump him with W, spear, E with thunderlords he should be half or less, potion up for mana, repeat one more time ignite, he dies...if he plays like a puss, just farm up and gank other lanes.
