is there a reason ghost poro and zombie wards (utility runes) now have offensive stats?

Especially when 99% of your community is complaining the game has too much damage? This is practically trolling at this point.

Because they're in the domination tree - a tree designed around bursting.

Every part of that tree is supposed to be for bursting targets faster, harder, and more often. Plain vision from it honestly did not fit that at all.

The option to make it make sense was either push the runes into Inspiration (and then either rework two inspiration runes to be for Domination or add two new domination runes), or to add damage to the runes.

except all the trees, except inspiration, has damage in them. tone down on the damage or move zombie ward/ghost poro to the inspiration tree and replace it in the domination tree with something else. domination did NOT need more dmg, its already overloaded with it.

To make them competitive with the third option that everyone was going purely for the offensive adaptive stats it gave. They wanted all 3 to be viable and competitive in the right scenario.

I would buy this response...if it was not for the fact that Zombie Ward was nerfed multiple times this season and at one point Zombie Ward was up there with Stopwatch as a "must pick" rune. If Zombie Ward was not being picked they could have reverted some of the nerfs. Ghost Poro always seemed worse than Zombie Ward. Zombie Ward + Ingenious Hunter used to be a pretty solid option for supports.

There is no "buying the response". It's a fact - not an opinion. All 3 were given a damage aspect to make them competitive with each other. Otherwise pretty much every non-support will always run the one that gives adaptive damage simply for the tiny bit of ad or ap. Moreover even ignoring that aspect of it, it was still the best even without the adaptive damage for much of the season.
