This isn't a rant. I am genuinely at a loss for what to do and need some answers.

Top lane Heimerdinger

How do you play against it, unless you're a ranged that can clear his turrets or Sion? When a melee like Jax/Renek/Darius (or even better, a tank with few options to farm under turret) goes up against this champ, how does one actually beat this turd?

It's just so obnoxious how Heimerdinger gets basically a free pass in the lane phase. Jungler ganks don't even help that much because he just hides behind his triangle of turrets and attempts to 1v2 (which is entirely possible).

So, is there any possible way of beating him without resorting to Ziggs/Sion top? Or am I forced to counterpick?

Galio Chogath Gangplank

galio #1 counter pick vs donger top

TahmKench is also a fun one to use against him

i could see it... problem is tahm moves really slow... the good thing is using his devour to negate dongers turrets

i have prior played nunu into donger alot , using Q on his turrets... and getting banner and sunfire for wave clear... im not gonna kill him but he isnt gonna auto push my turrets

I don't view counterpicking as a healthy form of balance.

Yea, I've seen adaptive helm rush galio and zz'rot sion dumpster heimer, but I would prefer that there actually be some counterplay if I were to say, play garen/sej.

LMAO ok whatever

champs kits are designed vs other damages/kits designs in game therefore its would a form of balance.. other wise why have different stats, scalings, abilities, anything

and how is item building any more balance or counter play healthy then champ counter picking ?

but i guess your only solution is to ban donger

good luck

Champ counter picking being the only gate from donger auto winning lane isn't balanced, especially if the heimer is allowed to pick after you.

That isn't healthy game design, although I agree that counterbuilding (while healthier, because it allows you options in game) is almost as unhealthy as counterpicking.

Counterplay in my book is being able to beat a certain champ by "outplaying" said champ (assuming the lane/game is even). If a champ, like Heimer, means an autolose in the lane for a champ like Garen/Darius/Sejuani in the top lane, that's unhealthy game design.

Also, I would consider banning Donger, but Donger is only picked in 5-7 percent ish of my games, while other champs (like Twitch, Cho, and Zac) are picked much more often.

the game is based on counter picking and team comps

that is why coordinated teams such as in pro play pick champs and ban champs a certain way

whether or not you like it , it exist... use it to your advantage...

if you get countered picked by donger alter your build and or play style ( counter play the counter pick) rush a banner of command cuz he cant kill the promoted minion get bami cinder for aoe wave clear. get magic resist , etc

you wanna cry about said champ... gave you multiple of ways to play and beat him... you dont like it...

then ban the champ or play the champ

those are your options

best of luck

None of the options you listed were things I could do IN GAME. You simply mentioned a couple of counterpicks, none of which I specialize in playing.

Thanks for the tip about banner of command, though.

but that is partly how galio would counter him... he gets a shield based on MR , he has aoe wave clear with passive and Q and can engage on him if he dash/taunts or jungler ganks as galio utls

galio is perfectly fine going banner into sunfire for aoe wave clear.

take what and why those champs counter donger and think and of how can you in game with other champs reproduce some of that and this how you can figure out how to lane/play against a champ

also play the champ yourself you will learn strength and weaknesses so you when playing vs that champ know when and how to attack and play around them

item 3194 tends to hurt him alot

as a melee champion, you dont really.

you just get as much farm as you can and try to clear the waves without dieing while waiting on your jungler to gank, while the little shit overextends.

no point in trying to trade with him or clearing his turrets. its impossible without being graced by one of his rockets and the turrets just taking a huge fucking shit on you. and hes just going to immediately replace them anyways.

if youre not stupid ahead by the time he reaches level 6 it makes more sense to forfeit the lane and try to get something done around the map.

That's true, but it feels REALLY unsatisfying to play. Auto forfeiting the lane is never fun, and having a champion that makes melees basically auto forfeit is just crazy.

I did play against a couple of heimers (on my other account) with this playstyle and managed to win about 50 percent of the time doing this, but it really largely rested on my teammates' shoulders to win the game, as I would never be in a position to carry.

All in all, it's just really unfun to play against a heimer lane as a melee. It's not unwinnable, it just leaves a really, really bad taste in my mouth.

He's kinda like singed in playstyle, so same method of dealing with him applies. For those tanky champs u mentioned, you want sustain, mr, and hard wave clear. item 1054 or flask of corruption depending on if u have mana, then you probably want tiamat for shove, sunfire can work but will usually be to expensive and unneccessary armor plus would make it harder to farm under turret which you will be doing alot of so unless its core on the champ I wouldnt recommend. Then you can either rush item 3194 or something more aggressive depending on if you're winning or losing the lane.

Its entirely possible to crush this lane with something like a darius or renekton. Just avoid trading, and try and get a gank from your jungler. Heimer's immobile so if you can get your jungler to set up, then bait his stun grenade, and summoner 4 it followed by an E, its almost a guaranteed kill. Reminder that for fighting someone squish like heimer as darius, you're going to want to start off with e, make sure you hold your W till you are auto canceling, AND DO NOT Q until you have 5 stacks. You will only get one q on him before he gets back to turret, so unless that q will be enough damage to kill him, hold it for your passive.

Hope this helps.
