What to do when you're autofilled

  1. Ask politely for your main/secondary role
  2. If denied, either dodge or put up with it for a game.

Don't go "I'm autofilled, so I'm going to play Yasuo support, a champ I don't play on a role that I hate", and then proceed to feed two early kills to the enemy bot lane and die 11 times overall, and then proceed to act like the victim, saying that you tried your hardest that game.

I agree with this - the key word is “politely” ask. If someone says “give me mid”? I won’t. If someone says “hey I don’t normally support can i have mid please”? They’ll get it from me every single time.

I’d much rather have a polite nice team with everyone in a preferred role than a team that’s pissed at each other because someone was toxic and/or someone didn’t want to give up their role.

That being said, I also don’t support people dodging for not getting their role - it’s childish and doesn’t help anything in my opinion.

Or Or... have a champion pool that spans out to more than 1 lane. Most high elo players don't get there from one tricking a lane. (thought there are a select few) :3

The trick is to learn and play characters who can fit multiple roles you don't play, so that if you do get autofilled you only have to learn maybe 1-2 extra characters instead of a bunch of different ones. It's a trick that I showed one of my buddies to do with morg/shen (he's an AD/JG player), and apparently his winrate is around 80% when autofilled compared to the 30 it was using his previous method.

you missed 3. rage like a child for the next 20-40 minutes about how riot has autofilled you 15 games in a row now, even though that is literally impossible

while I hate yasuos, I've seen streams of 1 trick yasuo play support pretty well.

Don't hate the off-meta picks please.

I'm usually a nice guy. If someone else wants my position, I swap. If I get autofilled, I just pick a support I know, and just go with it.

or learn to play all roles so if you get autofilled you can play a role decently

there used to be an unspoken rule that unless you were comfortable with all 5 roles you didn't play ranked because with pick order odds are you had to play each one at some point

I played 3 seasons just toplane/jungle. Im diamond player top/jungle and my mid/adc/supp are silver level. I can still try my best and do garbage.

I'm a support main. I can't remember the last time I got autofill w/o choosing it.

I just say I am autofilled and play

no one likes to supp ever....you think i enjoyed playing supp on my main accoutn for pretty much all of season 6 ? thanks for having the teambuilder ranked instead of the blind pick ranked liek it used to be..... supp is easy as fuck to play, boring as shyt to play, people will say its important.....umm no its not i cannot make the adc build right....gets a triple killl right off backs and buys beserker greaves.........yah

I have a weird concern to bring up in regards to this.

I have recently been spamming ADC in ranked and often you get an autofilled support (which is fine). However, the amount of Teemo "supports" that I've been getting or other champions that provide nothing to the lane are quite large. It being ranked I would rather sacrifice 3lp and dodge to wait it out rather than waste 45 minutes and possibly lose a game due to the lack of CC from a: Garen/Teemo/Zed team comp...

That was until I got a dodge timer of 20 minutes for not wanting to put up with a Teemo support. Does anybody see this as an issue or is this just something that I should accept in order to not deal with that stuff every so often?

I strongly believe it should be mandatory to know how to play every role decently, that way, no one would complain about autofill.

Or you know

...

Get rid of autofill.

Dodging doesn't actually accomplish anything, so I think that's honestly a terrible suggestion. You are still autofill activated, so what's the point? You'd just made people have to waste more time, you now have to waste your own time waiting longer for a Queue...

Just suck it up like everyone else has to. Asking is fine, but most times it is support still and few people are going to trade their main role for support (or they'd be playing support). Just play, pick a safe pick that isn't a hard champ to play, and don't whine.
