So people will compare Doran and cull. To me cull is the better start for reasons on getting all your starting gold back and then some, that gold has helped me out, on finishing certain items that are needed. But the real caveat to this is if you have a support who is using relic shield, and I say this because whenever your relic shield support executes a cs that counts as a stack on cull.

of course it does, because it counts as a CS. I'm not sure why this helps though. If your support doesn't have a relic shield, you'll still be getting that CS, you'll just have to last-hit it yourself.
Do you just mean that the chances of missing that CS will be lower?
khorney1 votesI never noticed it nor thought it would count as a stack, just sharing the info and have a extra 700 gold later on in the game for me I'm okay at csing reaching 100 cs by 11min. Helps me finish ie or something that's almost 2 kills worth of gold you get just by csing

if youre a mid/lategame champ and weak early, you cant afford to start with it, or youll get bullied around in lane even harder than you already are. if youre an early game lane bully, then youd start with dorans for extra lane pressure and sustain.
this is one of those items thats gonna end up being useless and removed soon.
khorney1 votesI pretty much only use varus adc or other lanes so it works for him. But Doran only passes cull I'm sustain once you reach over 110 ad..... And 2 ad isn't anything and the 80 hp.... You act like I'm jumping on you at lvl 1

I think it really depends. Sure, you'll get bullied around, but the enemy will probably try it regardless. But that is where teamwork comes in. Threshs can get nice hooks and get the enemy chunked and force them to back even if you only have cull, it's not as if it has no combat stats. I Just think cull is something to be aware of and play around it.

Maybe struggling ADCs should buy it and focus on getting the needed cs, and end up with better games.

Axests1 votesculls problem is that it isn't as strong as dorans is in lane, so it's a sacrifice of power in exchange for gold efficiency.

when speaking of strength i mean that dorans blade is the safer item. With 80 less hp than your opponent you're disadvantaged in fights and trading is in your opponents favor from the start. I'd say buying cull IS situationally better than dorans (for example if you're bot with say soraka and are playing a long range adc such as caitlyn) just not the safer option.

Cull is more gold efficient. Dorans is a safer item.
Both are good starts just depends on everything else in the game which is better.

Anomander1 votesVarus has a pretty safe lane as he can always stay back and farm with q. Twitch is a lot less safe then a varus in lane. However this also depends on who your against and who your support is. I mean if your against a Ashe nami and you have a janna/ soraka. That is just free farm lane. But if they are a Draven Leona who will hard engage on you then your better off with a dorans for the Hp.
khorney1 votesi see your point but as you stated varus is a safe farmer and i do try and farm and turret sit if i have to becuase i was gettign bullied to much. the hard engage leo does with thunderlords is op and if you combine it with any adc who also takes thunderlords you will most of the time kill a person off the focus
