So what was the goal with introducing Luden's Echo?

From my perspective, the item was introduced to help mages with low mobility/waveclear.

However, the champions I see buying the item already got high mobility and waveclear, and it only further increase their advantage.

Ahri and Katarina both fits in those category, and I really don't think they need that extra MS/AoE in their kit to work properly, especially Kat.

To make it worse, the item does not give any mana regen, so only mages who have low mana cost or no mana at all (again Ahri and Kat) will rush it.

So far, I think it only "helped" the mages who did not "need" it.

The goal was to make another 120 AP item.

It was never for the mages who needed it. I would've never built it on a Malhazar, who has low speed and almost all his damage's are a Dot. It was for people who would benefit from spamming spells, like (yes) Ahri.

Kat benefits because if she gets a reset that's an insta 60 stacks on Ludens from another 3 spell casts. Diana benefits because low cd's and extra burst and movement speed. Azir benefits because low cd's, extra burst and movement speed.

Do you see the pattern?

it is a replacement for DFG so of course it will be focused towards champions who generally used DFG.
