What has been impacting negatively the game

With all the respect i owe to Riot i think that overloaded kits destroyed the game.

Well everyone like new things in lol new mechanics and riot was doing well to imtroduce them.

However they created kits which are performing too well and better than old champion kits. Nowadays each kit has an escape, a burst, an ult with unusual effects, and a kinf of stun. There are too much tools inside of a single champion alone.

Because of that balance became a nightmare and new runes were introduced hoping that it would solve the issues. However that's not the kind of gameplay many people want : high damage one shot gameplay is not something really fun unless if it occurs occasionally.

I think riot should make less overloaded kits for new champs.

Neeko for example is a bad example of a new champion because she has mage tools, supp tools and jungle tools. She is too good at everything. And the 1.3ap ratio on the ult is an abomination.

Riot.

They should release a new game for Irelia and Akali.

They could call it "Ping Pong"

What has been impacting negatively the game?

  1. Overloaded kits.

  2. Mobility

  3. Damage

  4. Runes no where near balanced to each other.

  5. Summoner spells no where near balanced to each other (flash gets used pretty much 99% of the time (that's not good balance (why even have it as an option anymore????)))

  6. Riot dictates what champions you should play depending on patch (never used to be like this).

  7. Some champions are clearly busted (MasterYi Graves)

  8. No true soloqueue (WHY THE HOLY FUCK IS THIS NOT A THING? (FUCK IT, KEEP FLEX. I DON'T CARE. JUST WANT TRUE SOLO))

  9. Balance team is a absolute clown fiesta and have 0 clue on true games balance. (see summoner spells)

  10. The punishment system is pretty much Nazi-SJW.

  11. No quality control what so EVER (as I've typed this I guarantee 500,000 hours worth of time has been completely wasted by trolls and the absolute scum of the earth who are dead set in ruining your game and time)

  12. THE COMMUNITY

Nicolasbo1431 votes

master yi and graves are not busted.... that is a solo q mentality

Stracony2 votes

Master Yi can delete you before you can blink and Graves can be tankier then a fucking tank. How is that not considered busted in a reasonable manner?

I've got nothing wrong with what each character can do and should do. But you gotta be kidding yourself if you think the numbers are not ridiculously inflated.

Seriously, take a step back and see the big picture. Should Master Yi be able to easily be able to hop from player to player while killing each one in 0.3 seconds? 1 second for anything tanky.

Should Graves really be able to output so much damage while being near enough unkillable and be quite mobile?

That's just solo q mentality... nothing to do with bad balance and overtuned numbers. That's just 2 examples.. i could go on

Nicolasbo1431 votes

Here's a tip. Try playing Master Yi and Graves in ranked. Then we can see your 100 percent win rate lmao.

Master Yi offers NOTHING to your team and is god awful when behind. His early game sucks. He is NEVER picked in professional play, the people who actually know how to play this game.

Graves is also RARELY picked in pro play.

The way you are describing champs...makes them all sound overpowered.

The reason why you guys hate master yi and graves so much is because they are annoying when fed. Theres those people who continue to solo duel a 18/1 yi, then blame how OP it is. Its not the champ, its the player.

Hell if I had a 10/1 ashe, im gonna disintegrate you.

master yi at an average gold level cannot kill you that fast.....and he builds full dmg, making him very squishy

  1. The punishment system is pretty much Nazi-SJW.

The punishment system is just authoritarian, which makes it ripe for exploitation.

You can pretty much blame this on riot however... https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/2Fy9sO7T-riots-community-problem-is-so-big-im-not-sure-they-even-comprehend-it

Damage creep is the number one issue this game faces and why I just uninstalled for the first time in forever.

Too much focus from the balance team on "flashy one-shot outplays" to generate viewership places priority over the actual enjoy-ability of the game.

Damage needs to go back down team fights need to go on for longer periods of time and games shouldn't be an automatic stomp 80% of the time at 10 minutes.

deadlychuck1 votes

Ironically most damage creep can be traced back to overloaded kits, and riot attempting to balance them by buffing champions with less bloated kits, rather than stripping the overloaded champions of some of their mechanics.

Riot just tries to make the impossible value comparison of mechanics to numbers. How much effective health is a 700 range dash on a 12 second CD worth? Well unfortunately riot isn't the only company that does this. A lot of the RPG genre is actually a complete shit show because they are trying to do exactly this kind of thing.

ModCaptainMårvelous8 votes

Actually, I think there's a bigger issue: Namely not that overloaded kits exist but that Riot has an unhealthy obsession that every champ should be played at every level.

Something like Azir is balanced when he's "bad" because he's difficult to play for the common player. He's a Diamond-champ who you really got to know the game to play well. The problem is Riot doesn't want this. Riot wants the guy in Bronze 2 to play Azir just like the guy in Diamond 2. This in turn leads to kits with a lot of mechanical depth having a low skill ceiling. Which ends up where you have players who have a choice between easy to play, low skill ceiling....vs. easy to play, high skill ceiling with a lot of tools.

You seriously will defend Riot until your last breath. Every post, you always try to find a way to make their decisions look positive. It's pathetic.

mack91128 votes

I am only giving my opinion why is that pathetic

There are plenty of riot decisions I am not ok with but I try to think everything out and don't knee jerk reactions.

A good example is that Camille on the pbe has an AS nerf in line which really don't feel will address her frustrating kit.

Nothing I say is wrong I never lie I merely give a different perspective and isn't that the point of a forum ? Different opinions being discussed.

I see AT LEAST one comment of yours on every single post that bashes Riot in some way. Each one of those comments is defending Riot. I have yet to see a single comment of yours that is not defending Riot. I respect that you have your own opinion, but when you ignore glaring issues with the game and try to spin things in a positive light, it just comes off as pathetic.

But isn't picking holes in every riot decision equally as silly ?

I love to talk about the game and am passionate about it

Expressing different opinions promotes healthy discussion as it helps include all perspectives of the community

If we can get this board a little less salty maybe we can get the reds back in here like it used to be years back and have some really cool discussions

People generally only pick holes in the decisions that are bad enough to do so. The number of ridiculous, stupid changes that Riot has made over the last 2 years is laughable. I have loved this game for 5 years but it is terrible now. There really isn't much to defend when they make changes like -5 ms on Irelia.

mack91123 votes

I understand stuff like that is frustrating I do agree that is such a ridiculous nerf to a powerful champ it's a hard situation though.

Me or you play this game for fun at the end of the day but there are so many people now that this game is there entire profession be it pro or streamer . Simply they couldn't nerf a Champion too heavy that so many pro players are going to take into world's. As well as last season comes to an end it becomes hard to nerf things as next season will change the meta entirely as we are already seeing with a 43% wr akali and 47% wr irelia but they are still nerfing them which makes me so happy and shows riot does have commence sense.

League definitely has its moments of extreme frustration I have gone through a few monitors playing this game but it has to be respected that 9 years later league is still such an amazing game like as an example look at fortnite it has been out for a year and the most recent glider patch has people proclaiming the game dead.

All we can do is look forward and from what I can see season 9 is shaping up to be very exciting !

But for real nerf Camille's gank potential

"Anyone who states what they like about the game does so because they're a white knight shill. Anyone who states what they dislike does so because Riot made bad choices and they're smart enough to pick them out."

I really like the mental gymnastics you take to explain why it's okay for you to be a hypocrite.

At the end of the day Riot makes good and bad decisions. This board is obsessed with picking out the bad decisions because it's an easy way to

  1. vent frustrations about the game
  2. appear to be an intelligent, critical thinker

and I get it, you're upset. But spouting the same nonsense that everyone else does where you complain about the state of the game then decry anyone who thinks otherwise turns this place into an extreme cesspool with no decent discussion.

Jungle's been the most broken role in the game for over a year, and there's at most 4 viable picks.

mack91121 votes

I mean off the top of my head for jungle season 8 i can think of gragas graves kha xin shaco lee hec eve kayne

deadlychuck1 votes

Well I'd guess you probably started playing during the lee sin era, where the dude was top tier meta go to pick for like 4-5 years straight

mack91121 votes

I remember season 5 man of vi lee jarvin only in the jungle

deadlychuck1 votes

Well remember, lee was also one of the only champions allowed in the jungle in season 3,4, and 6 too. Hmmmmm

mack91121 votes

Haha ikr ! And now the jungle role has such a diverse roster !

Not just bloody Lee..

deadlychuck1 votes

Which considering how little was changed about lee since then, really tells you how much everyone else was raised to meet him as the standard, rather than riot fixing the champion who was so poorly designed that he couldn't be usurped from his top tier jungle position for like 5 years...

mack91121 votes

Lol I don't really agree with that at all dude I have jungled alot for a very long time and plenty of junglers have come and gone that have had far more dominate play styles than Lee.

Lee has one of the highest play rates in the game because he is simply fun to play just like Lucian or Yas.

deadlychuck1 votes

Yes, lee sin is fun to play, because when playing him you appropriately feel like you're always leading the fights... because you are...

The excessive mobility and in particular designs which utilize spells that have two different has usages split across different activation on the same skill, like Lee Q, Thresh Q, Yasuo Q, Akali Q, exc. Seriously causes agency problems, because the players of these champions get to make half decisions twice as often as their opponents get to make full decisions.

It's not healthy design, because being able to make more precise decisions like that gives a champion an inherent initiative advantage that's basically impossible for them to lose. It makes playing against the champion feel like you have no choice but to play reactive, because where as they can half commit and half retreat, you are punished for doing either of those half way.

mack91121 votes

Well I mean Lee sin is designed as an early game champion who does fall behind .

I don't understand why we are arguing this champion he is in no way a power pick these days and had remained in a pretty balanced state this whole season.

deadlychuck1 votes

Sure he does, but early or late game, he doesn't lose that extra initiative that his design gives him. Being an early game champion has more to do with numerical balancing not mechanic design.

No he's not currently a power pick. I frankly don't care if he's a power pick or not. The mechanical design of the champion is the issue. And just because riot has managed to raise every other champion up to around his same effectiveness level since he was previously such a power pick, doesn't mean that the problems that he has by design have been resolved. They've just been downplayed.

mack91121 votes

I don't understand the issue he does scale poorly into mid and late game while have plenty of opportunities for the enemy to outplay him.

His design is absolutely fine.

deadlychuck1 votes

Yes, but mid game has become such an abomination that going into the mid game with an early game lead, like a champion like lee sin provides, generally means that you will be closing a game out with the advantage that the early game provided, because the mid game didn't provide enough time to challenge that advantage.

And even then, I just conceded the point that he falls of mid-late game, but in reality in most cases he really doesn't. He's got some of the highest AD scaling in the game and can successfully be played like an assassin in the late game, while building like a juggernaut.

I get that it was a joke, but the April fools video riot made about lee sin is unfortunately far more true than it should be. He effectively acts as everything at his own discretion. Assassin? He can do that. Tank? He can do that. Fighter? He can do that. Support? He can effectively do that. Mage? Well most of his damage is spells anyway so...

mack91121 votes

Ifk man i guess we play 2 different games but after 20 minutes lee sin definently falls off and if he smashed you early game then he did his job and outplayed you.

He has plenty of outplay potential . Learn the champs and understand there weaknesses instead of calling every champ broken because they beat you or because you have not figured out how to outplay them.

deadlychuck1 votes

Stop. I'm not claiming lee sin is broken. I think he's balanced around the degree to which he can influence and continue to carry into the late game. I just think that his design is flawed.

That flawed design is why I fundamentally disagree with this statement

He has plenty of outplay potential

No, he has plenty of free initiative that puts people fighting him at a strategic disadvantage, even if they're not at a numerical one.

The best analogy I've been able to find for this is like playing a game of chess against someone. P1 gets to make full movements, but P2 only gets to make half movements twice as often. Following this play pattern. P2 moves a piece to a corner/edge of a square. P1 moves. P2 then decides which of the two options to take.

Does this numerically put P1 at a disadvantage? No. It does however mean that P2 both gets to make P1 play reactive while never having to commit to an action until they can read the repose of P1.

mack91121 votes

So by that arguement is reksai and elise both poorly made champions because they can perform twice as many actions ?

They should be keeping some kits like the old ones with abilities that are passives. Like vis w or vaynes w. Keep it simple but make it fun.

Next champ they make should be a true tank. Like a maokai or shen 2.0 like super tank. That way they will change the runes to fit tank meta and people will buy the skins cuzz its busted

Emo Twink3 votes

As far as rito is lately, Neeko isn't overloaded, shes just a slightly more complex morgana or zyra. Her numbers need tuning but unlike so much things this year, her kit is well designed and easily fixed by just numbers.

He4rtkiller2 votes

Agree. I was pleasantly surprised with Neeko's kit. Many interesting and fun stuff you can do but isn't overloaded. Numbers can be tuned. Hope Riot keeps designing new champs like this and balance or rework champs with overloaded kits they've been making lately.

Handy Sandy 2 votes

I think neeko's overall design is ok, it's just the insane amount of damage she has. If a champion has a lot of utility, they don't need a lot of damage. Supports like Janna or Braum are a great example of this.

Champions that aren't supports, but still have a more support oriented role in a team work because they have less damage, or have more conditions they have to meet to do the same level of damage as someone completely damaged focus. Orianna and Fiddlesticks do this pretty well. Even Ashe usually has less damage than most adcs, but she gets that power back in her hit because of her utility.

deadlychuck2 votes

Not to mention, you start seeing champions who literally have multiple passives. Either to increase the champion's overall power or to stitch their extremely bloated kits together.
