Runes

Electrocute, Sudden Impact, Eyeball, Relentless Hunter

Celerity, Waterwalking

bread and butter for any assassin jungler.

Build can be more complicated though but i go with this.

item 1414 item 3020 item 3165 item 3100 item 3152

These items are usually pretty core, though you can chose not to go for Lich Bane or Protobelt based on playstyle or usefullness in the game and opt to get your situational items instead.

item 3157 item 3102 item 3905 item 3742

A common core build for me is this.

item 1414 item 3020 item 3165 item 3100 item 3152 item 3742

This gives a lot of Mobility, Burst, Tankiness and some Utility but again you can trade out your Deadmans or Protobelt for any other AP item and you'll be fine. Void Staff is a common buy instead of Deadmans for me but i don't often reach 6 items so the core is just Red Smite: Runic Echos, Sorc Shoes, Morello's and Lich Bane.

For initial Build order, first back you should buy your Red Smite or Blue Smite based on what you need, boots and use anything left to get your components for Runic Echo's. Second back you should finish runic Echos and, if you got a lot of kills, go for Sorc Shoes, third back is Oblivion Orb then the build order is Morello's, Protobelt or Lich bane, lich bane if your Fed, Protobelt if your not.

I double down on feast or famine assuming I will play well and make good calls. So I go item 3041 item 3100 item 3089 . Don't think that its ideal for folks until they have a high level of confidence in themselves and obviously if your teammates do very badly your job becomes very difficult.

I value snowballing matches solo as an assassin as they are often very opportunistic so if you don't get a window your pretty screwed out of the ability to make a play. Why I like eve is she can hit all lanes, and have impact on a gank vs all kinds of champion classes, shes a lot less limited then other Assassins cuz she does not have to worries about her lane pushing for roams, and she spends a high amount of the game game immune to wards. you nearly always know if your enemy has vision on you or not. And her E during hp% makes it so she can impact top lane.

I'm gonna have to disagree with two tank items, but the reason why is because she gains nothing from them, she isn't a very good Brawler and isn't very good in teamfights anyway so by taking Deadmans+Spirit visage you sacrifice a slot that could be used for a damage+survivability item instead of just a survivability item. Morello's is core because it stops healing and increases burst to Carries since in total you'd have 32 Magic Pen+ your shred from your W and Sudden Impact, in conjunction with your E you can do upwards of 1k damage with just one E and finish them off while their stuck in the W, without Morello's, adding in void staff you actually won't do as much damage because your not shredding as much.

So if our Caitlynn is level 12 she has a base 34 MR, because of how calculation works Evelynn E will reduce that by 35%(and evelynn should be high enough level at this point to have her W maxed.) before applying her flat pen. So her MR drops to 22, and remember we have the 32 magic pen+ sudden impact so 41, which means Caitlynns MR is now -19.

If you opt out of Morello's and get void staff the calculation is different.

Evelynn's W+Percentage MR Pen+ Flat MR Pen.

So again, same level , 34=22 from her W, now we have to add on the Percentage reduction from Void Staff first. So 40% of 22 so 22-8= 14 then we add the 26 from Sudden impact so it drops her MR to -12 instead of -19.

Now i often build Morello's, Void Staff and Sorc Shoes because you can drop someone to -30 with all of them together, but if you don't want one of those items, it's best to opt out of Void Staff since evelynn isn't a good brawler anyway and burst is much more efficient than being able to do a bit more damage to a tank.

This isn't taking into account that the AP you'd get from morello's+Lich Bane is also slightly better since you get 10 more AP from Morello's than you do from Void Staff. The penetration is what makes the build so worth it and considering you can actually get 41 penetration just by buying Sorc+Oblivion Orb, morello's is a better buy as a starting item overall, void staff is best bought when the enemy team has a lot of people with resistances, otherwise it's situational at best and you could be using your Void Staff slot for something better like Banshee's for when you go in, along with your Tank Item slots that don't do much for her anyway.

Note: Testing the two builds against a target dummy will have the Void Staff one come out as better because the dummy has 100 MR and Void Staff becomes more and more effecient the more MR the opponent has.

Dark harvest lower to mid elo, Electro for MMRs folks will watch cannons for the buff. Im a big fan of her R so I invest into ulti CDR runes. You can and should how ever develop your own playstyle that works for you.

early game, your going to want to use Q to avoid damage, Kite camps, get Q off then an auto as you pass thru. You take a bit longer to clear, but its not to significant on the leashed camp, and you maintain higher hp to the point you stand a much better opportunity to survive a invade. When you might be invaded, don't blow W with 0 vision, get a ward down. Keep the W up until you have some reasonable assurance you can clear the 2nd buff camp. Once her passive has some AP behind it she sustains very well and your able to get beat up a bit more in clears.

Try to get an over extended lane level 3-5. That charm hurts, you might not get a kill but you should be able to burn a flash. Knowing when and if you can get aggressive early is gonna help transition her to a faster mid game spike, do not just power farm like your old WW or Yii.

Get aggressive with her passive, Use it to position in ways that are impossible for any other champions, get comfey doing a dance with enemy champions being right next to the edge, your going to need to be able to maintain distance and keep them out of detectation to do well in teamfights.

Don't mindlessly rush Q max, CC is great, W is brutal. A few moments longer of harder CC, plus MR shred can make more impact then just 50 damage. I usualy go 3 points of Q, then might end up maxing W first, or get it to level 3-4 depending on whats needed. You got teammates, you might not get more then a single rotation off, the 50 damage on Q requires the skill shot to land and all 3 casts going off, its CD is higher when your not hitting monsters.

Know how to use her R for mobility, Escape, and of course a kill. Always think about where your going to land after casting, I got plenty of deaths that shoulda been avoidable if I just gave my aim a bit more thought, and a lot of really clean kills that im out safe for nailing the relocate.

Far to many folks think her R has to be saved for panic excapes or kills that they ignore its ability to put you point blank onto champions or get into range for a QW. Knowing when and how to use it for a gap closer is gonna give you an edge.

Her W charm is great, but a Brutal slow can be more then enough for eve. If they are lower, or their threat abilitys are on CD, waiting for the W to grow can be the wrong move. You can Q then cast W on a target, if the aims on point you get an instant slow with very little counter play coming out of her max range of camo, move into position for the Q then cast and W, Q as you move in, E ASAP, R away with the kill if needed.

Try to always flank the excape paths on ganks, get that W keep distances as it grows, move up once its near completion. It provides a indicator on your location, After it charges. On cast they have no clue what direction your at, only once its a charm threat do they see an arrow at you.

She is pretty cool. I have her at mastery 7 now. Haven't played her in a month or so though. Evelynn summoner 11 summoner 4 with either dark harvest or elctro with sudden impact, eyeballs, and the out of combat movespeed/secondaries are your choice really item 1402 for slow so they're easier to charm and it help with narrow escapes item 3100 is great as a second or third items depending on how fed you are item 3020 always...unless the other team is all ad then i get tabi item 3135 is a must IMO

the rest of the items are situational.... item 3151 is good but only if you have another tank item so you stay in combat. eve is best if you just one shot 1-2 champs and come back later item 3065 is a great tank item on her for her passive item 3089 if ahead or if the other team has no tanks item 3152 is pretty good for the price but i usually dont buy it item 3165 if they have healing item 3157 and item 3102 are situational. they help you survive. i like buying at least one of these. item 3907 only build this if you are ahead but its great if you are item 3143 item 3110 are good if they have champ like yi, tryn, adcs, that are ahead item 3742 is my fav tank armor item for her because of the speed you get and the extra damage/slow

Max Q. Gank once or twice early then farm to lvl 6 for the one shot ganks from invis

I like going dom-sorc the only runes i think are particularly important are electrocute for ur keysone, ghost poro (especially next patch) and absolute focus in sorc

Precisions got good supporting runes like presence of mind and coup de grace but the atk speed is wasted

The only thing i deally noticed while playing eve is you wanna play around the enemy jungler pre 6 and then plsy around ur ultimate

Ur a flanker and you always wanna be approaching the enemy from their escape routes to cut them off

For runes, I go Electrocute, Sudden Impact, Eyeball Collection/Zombie Ward, and Relentless Hunter.

Precision with either Triumph or Presence of Mind (not sure which is better yet. The gold and health is nice, but Presence increases your number of ganks a lot. Pick whichever you like), and Coup de Gracè.

Start and max QWE. Q is your primary farming/clear/damage spell, W levels increase the range and MR shred on it, but has too little damage to be maxed first on an assassin (although a point in it level 7 can help out a bit), E is...nice, but just not enough extra damage when not empowered to warrant maxing it 1st or 2nd.

I start raptors, go to wolves, blue, gromp, get crab if it's up, then gank mid or top by coming in behind them. Always, always gank from behind them. Never come from the side or in front if you can help it, even if your stealth is up. After that gank, I tend to farm as fast as possible for 6, then gank bot. Wipe bot, get drake, and just farm until R is back up.

My combo is always W>Wait for a second after your W finishes (they tend to panic flash in that time)>Q>E>Q>AA>Q>(step)>Q>AA. Smite whenever you feel like it. Try to keep your distance after that, because your E doesn't do that much without it being empowered. Ult if you need to. Use ult instead of flash to get in range to kill, unless you need ult to kill.

My build is usually item 1402>item 3020>item 3100/item 3907 (Both are really good items, so actually do get both, just in whatever order you need)>item 3102/item 3157, and finish with whatever item you want.

I like to go electricute-sudden impact-eyeball collection-ravenous-celerity-scorch for runes as for build and lvling i start with t2 jg item and MPEN boots into a sheen before finishing the JG item and going for a lich bane. after that its situational. Void staff, liandries, deathcap for a generic one shot (maybe swap liandries for gunblade if they have no tanks) Lvling- i like to max e into w for tanks and e into q for squishies (flat bonus damage is good for squishies while the higher %mr pen is good for tanks) also the e synergies well with both JG item and lichbane for a strong first hit.

There's plenty of advice here how to play her the meta way (Lich bane, Electrocute, etc).

But I want to get into some nuance as to why you may struggle with her:

  1. Clear speeds. If you rely on W to set up a jungle camp for a clear, you waste 2.5 seconds per camp. But if you don't use it, you lose its damage. So..... I have some advice for you, that generally pros do:

W the large minion, but begin Qing the small minions before W fully charges. It doesn't matter what part of your kit hits the large minion upon W's completion; it can be an auto attack or E. Just don't spoil it during its charge, and try not to create idle periods in your clear.

This will put off invaders who expect you to be at a certain camp at a certain time, reducing the possibility of auto losing your jungle to invades, and make your clears safer/faster to get you into the game much quicker.

  1. Don't stand still and tank all camp damage. Optimally you want to orb, and get in a few auto attacks here or there, but keep moving back to prevent SOME hits from hitting you. This creates a healthier cycle where you rely less on her passive to heal you (which is sometimes a time waster).

  2. Low elo teams do NOT know how to play around Eve; They push, they feed, and are impossibly stubborn at clearing pink wards. Don't go into low elo games and think Evelynn is going to perform like high elo games, because all those things are antithesis to her existence. You might be able to pseudo carry, but don't expect to go 20/0. You're more likely to go 14/6 and have a lot less time to CS.

  3. Don't be afraid to mess with the meta, and do what you need to outclass a counter champ team. If you have a team that is going to 1 second eliminate Evelynn, limiting your choices, don't build the Electrocute/Lich meta. There's nothing wrong with an armor build with item 3110 item 3025 If you have Transcendence, and it will drastically reduce the threat of some AD/Adc matchups. The raw output goes down a little, but the tanky trade is usually enough to allow you to get off R's you wouldn't, or direct trade opponents without waiting on her R as an escape. I can get up to 1100 AP on a tank build with Evelynn. That's how much it's underrated

Electrocute or Dark harvest are NOT your only choices either.

Phase rush is EXTREMELY strong on Evelynn because her Q alone counts as 4 skills, and adds a lot more mobility to an otherwise immobile kit. And if you run it, you can run the new Celerity and every time you E or proc Phase rush, You will gain a short burst of insanely high AP to cushion your assault.

You can even run Precision secondary and go Triumph/Legend: Tenacity to reduce the threat of CC to killer her in average engages and getting those life saving R's off, while also padding your early game gold.

Gameplay:

All I can say is:

Don't except to super hero gank/kill everyone. If Someone you normally would kill is fed and has a lot of sustain, wait for team to help kill them to be safe.

Don't think your ult is just a finisher. Use it to clear wave pushes you can't to prevent champs from taking turret lines. Use it to chase when you have enough kit left to assassinate, and aren't at risk of dying when you get there.

If you are forced to farm lane farm.... just wait for E to refresh. Don't urgently spam Q's/auto attack. You will waste a ton of time.

Learn to avoid being an engager when a team is built to destroy you.

Sometimes you can add seconds to your team's escape by charming someone you can't actually kill. Learn to use it that way, instead of only on engages. Play mind games.

P.S. If you go the Transcendence route over Absolute Focus or Celerity, find a way to fit item 3115 into your builds.

  1. It will co-sponsor Lich Bane on E's, making her % damage + on hit almost a 1 skill elimination vs a LOT of champs (especially ones who aren't smart to keep alive for long, like Darius )

  2. It's effectively a 120 AP item

  3. The attack speed and on hit damage helps you compensate for Evelynn's shitty lane clear, and augment her in-pause combat with champs gaps where Q and E are down but you just have someone who needs hit 3-4 more times.

I do build differently every game, but what I will show you is, for example, how you can pull off 1100 Ap without actually going Mejai's:

item 1402 item 3100 item 3040 item 3115 item 3089 Can get pretty high.

= 70%/80% CDR, which = 80 AP Transcendence, Gathering Storm, + about a 159 AP Seraph's. Deletes most champs before something like not having a item 3165 is an issue. (The jungle Echo change was perfect for this kind of build, because it now has 300 mana, a lot of AP, and doesn't conflict with Seraph's Haste for wasted passive space)
