Positional ranking actively punishes swapping lanes to counter a bad match up

If I'm in a mid match up that hard counters me and decide to swap lanes with top, we both get LP gain for the lane we swapped to.

If we were both on our main roles, the +4 LP splash to your main role from winning is pretty much worthless, and the LP gain on the swapped role is also largely worthless, because your highest role is the only really important one.

The game becomes a complete waste of time for both of us, because win or lose, the impact on our standings is close to zero. It's arguably better to take the bad match up and hope your team carries you, than waste 20-40 minutes for a whopping +/- 4 LP, and the top laner is even disincentive-ized from wanting to swap with me in order to increase the odds of winning.

This is so fucking stupid that I have no words. How did this system even make it live?

A duo on the enemy team knew they were very likely going to lose early on, and swapped lanes so they wouldn't take the full LP hit on their main roles.

99% sure this system was designed by monkeys hammering keyboards until they produced something that might possibly be vaguely implementable.
