Are tanks the easiest class in the game?

I looked at the average difficulty of the champions of each class and I find the tanks are overall the easiest, with no tank having a 3 difficulty rating. Here is the average difficulties: Marksman: 1.86 Mage: 2.03 Assassin: 2.13 Fighter: 1.80 Tank: 1.35 Support: 1.85

the difficulty ratings only describe skill floor. how easy a champion is to pick up for a new player. they dont say anything about skillcap at a serious mmr.

Mechanically yes, they are one of the easiest, positioning not so much since you gotta adjust to position according to 8 or 9 other people instead of the usual 3 or 4 more roles have to keep track off.

You gotta make sure your adc and mages are close enough, at the same time the enemy adc and mages are far away from them (so you can be between the enemy carries and your own). You gotta be able to CC every diver or assasin and find the sweet spot where you can zone people and create pressure while not being burst down by 5 people beating you up.

For example if i'm adc I only have to be concerned that I'm in range to AA something and not being collapsed on. With mages If artillery just spam abilities from behind trying to hit the priority targets if burst just trying to get in range to nuke carries while avoiding assassins and divers. Assasins just gotta focus on finding a target and a way out and so on so on.

Mechanically? Yes. Psychologically? Fuck no. As a tank, you don't get to decide whether or not your team wins the game, it's the damage dealers who do. If they decide to completely ignore the CC you're layering for them, and they don't do any damage during the entire 5 seconds you've kept a target locked up, you might as well have blown both of your summoners for no reason for all the good you just did.

Not to mention the bullshit egos you have to put up with from your damage dealers

Where did you gethe the difficulty ratings from? Tanks are pretty easy though, as the vast majority of them require little to no mechanics to pull off except for "aim big stun thing".

Yes they are.

Followed by mages and supports

Supports are the easiest class IMO. But playing a tank is pretty damn easy too.

As others have pointed out, mechanically yes, but not so much outside of that since they usually rely on their team to actually win fights.

Difficulty ratings Riot provides are very poor representations for the most part, ease is a general term and usually depends on the person playing.

Most of the tanks are the easiest mechanically, but imo require the most awareness and strategic decision-making. It would be overbearing if tanks were gated by mechanics, while also having to decide who to focus, who to peel for, when to initiate, how to counter-build (so they can stay alive long enough for the DPS to do their jobs), and remaining enough of a damage threat so they're not ignored by the enemy team.

All of those factors change, depending on team compositions, while the job of a DPS remains pretty much the same, relative to their type. Compared to tanks and supports, a DPS champion's lack of general control doesn't give them a lot of strategic options, which is made up for by having much higher damage output. Obviously, there are exceptions to this rule, which are typically the champions with the most balance issues.
