Because, really? They're all girls.

Taric is hybrid enchanter, but like, no.

Taric Zilean Rakan all dip into the enchanter subclass, although they're kinda half and half (Taric being half-enchanter half-tank, Zilean being half enchanter half mage, Rakan being half enchanter half...something).

Also, we have no idea if the new enchanter is gonna be male or female. I wanna see a whimsical male kitsune enchanter.

Terozu1 votes

I do too, but hed be a cat boy not a kitsune.

The term here would be Bakeneko.

Also I don't count hybrids.

All the pure enchanters are girls.

Literally the only other sub class like it is Artillery which is all males, but only 4 champs.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Rengar's twink younger brother as an enchanter? :3

Terozu1 votes

No because then he'd be mostly cat :(

Also cat smile is appropiate. :3

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

I'm fine with mostly cat o3o

Rakan heal and shields are not his core gameplay patterns, he is picked and played for his borderline broken engage that was the best engage in the game until last nerf. He's a catcher or whatever you want to call it, definetely not an enchanter.

Zilean for me however is defined by his utility with R and stuns, I can see him being more near to an enchanter playstyle.

Taric it's just a melee enchanter, simple for me.

Terozu1 votes

I didnt know he was nerfed and played him in rank like a dumbass. ^-^

Also Zilean's ult doesnt count as a heal for some reason, so it doesn't actually enchant.

Taric is a Warden with healing.

Frosted Tips2 votes

He also shields and gives bonus armor. So heals, shields, and stat bonuses should definitely be classified as a Warden and Enchanter hybrid.

Terozu1 votes

Hes hybrid enchanter, which i dont count, as i nsaid, in my post.

Frosted Tips2 votes

Well you changed what you called home in the previous comment so just had to clarify.

Terozu1 votes

Changed what?

He's a warden enchanter hybrid.

Frosted Tips1 votes

You called him

Taric is a Warden with healing.

Sukishoo1 votes

Rakan is classed as a Catcher, Zilean was classed as Unique Playstyle and Taric is indeed an Enchanter (Hybrid Warden).

petition to shut your dirty mouth. lol jk but fr this is a terrible idea. Next youll suggest that poppy be shifted into a fighter class and the warden subclass will be cannonically male. Definitely a big n o from me thats needlessly limiting. Basically like a petition to say every nurse should be a woman. #notafan

also, post jokes in m and g thx

Terozu1 votes

People post jokes in Gameplay all the time.

shrug

Also it is at least partially commenting on the lack of female shield type champions, which belongs in both Gameplay and SA&S and you could make an argument for all three.

Marshbouy1 votes

If you're expecting people to laugh at it and interpret it as a joke, it goes on M and G whether you like it or not.

While enchanter is the masculine form of the word, it's also the gender neutral form.

Actors and actresses are both actors. A male actor is not an actress.

Terozu1 votes

This is a joke.

It is a joke.

On the fact there are no male pure enchanters.

I understand and I appreciate the attempt at humor, but Riot has set some really awful precedent with dealing with gender issues... wouldn't want them to take your quip as a possible point of action.

That is kind of the issue, there should either be a single word that describes the vocation regardless of gender, OR have 2 word's whose venn diagrams of contents never intersect. Or at least that is what I am getting. The whole language was created at a time with very different ideals than today, the question is, should we alter it or keep it as is? There are sure to be advocates and merits for either.

Having two completely separate terms for what is otherwise the same thing seems needlessly obfuscating. Creating brand new terms to replace the old ones also seems like it would just cause more confusion, kind of like trying to consolidate technological standards and just ending up with multiple incompatible standards.

I feel like the cleanest thing would just be to do away with secondary versions of these terms and declare them unambiguously neutral, but there are always people trying to force gender specificity into terms that don't need them. I've seen -ess and -ress attached to almost every occupation I've ever been aware of in American English. The people doing it are usually very insistent. "I'm not a technician. I'm a technician_ess_."

How about Doctress or Judgeress or film directress? I thought the best way would be to have one word that is unisex and this might as well be the case in like 200 years xD people will be like "They did the same job but called it differently due to gender huh? Such a sexist society back in 2020."

I've got a feeling this new enchanter is going to be a guy.

Terozu1 votes

Same, I want an anime cat boy.

GreenKnight1 votes

Meh, i just want a new enchanter. Make it androgynous for all i care, just give me something.

Saezio1 votes

Maybe the class is called enchanters and when you hover over specific champs it says the appropriate gender. Enchanter or enchantress accordingly . Maybe this applies to other such as "Marksman" and maybe "Marksmaid" ? I am no english professor so you tell me how it should be.

Terozu1 votes

Markswoman would be the female form. And it's really just a joke, I dont actually think the class name should be changed.

I would love the names to vary for males and females. Simply because I enjoy fancy words though.

If Karma is an enchanter then Ivern Kayle LeeSin Lux Morgana Nidalee Orianna Rakan Taric Thresh Zilean are enchanters too. Having a weak shield doesn't make you an enchanter automatically.

all these, except lee, thresh and nida (whose shields/heal are not really spammable mana-wise for the most part) can play the part of an enchanter with the correct items.

Especially Ivern, who should be classified as an enchanter IMO simply because that's the class closest to him.

Terozu1 votes

Except Karma is listed as an enchanter in the official subclass list. https://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/taking-another-look-subclasses

Also, Karma's shield not only isn't weak, it also is a movement buff and can be teamwide.

There's a reason one of the main Karma complaints is that she's a shield bot late game.

Frosted Tips1 votes

Ok and Diana is listed as a fighter. Just because Riot says something does not mean it is correct.

Don't get me wrong I wish Riot was right and Diana was actually a fighter, but too bad Riot forgot to offer AP Bruisers good items.

Terozu1 votes

Diana IS a fighter, shes in the subclass of diver, as everyone knows.

Frosted Tips1 votes

She may be classified that way, but she plays as a full burst assassin and has pretty much since release.

Sukishoo1 votes

According to Riot when they last spoke on Subclasses, https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/taking-another-look-subclasses Taric is indeed an Enchanter.

Terozu1 votes

Hybrid, as i aknowledged in my post.

AbiwonKenabi1 votes

What about Ivern? If he's hybrid, he's barely hybrid, he plays like an enchanter more suited for the jungle.

Terozu1 votes

Ivern is classified as a unique playstyle.
