Being silver for a long time really handicaped my willingness to group

It got to the point of seeing the word "group" would make me cringe. Just so many flashbacks of 50 min games where everyone starts grouping at 20 mins and plays ARAM until eventually death timers too long that one team can end.

The solution I came to this year was basically look to see if "group" means "play patty cake with enemy for 5 mins", which normally that is what it means so I would just afk farm a lane and push to get more items before a late game fight.

But now when people say group I realize they are starting actually mean it because "shits about to go down". I am slow to react sometimes since I am still in the mindset of "have to farm as much as possible can't trust my teammates for shit". But now I can start trusting my teammates a little more and have to be quicker to react to what is going on around the map.

Tl,Dr May have to adjust your game play strategies depending on what elo you in. You don't have to play like a diamond player to get out of bronze/silver or w/e elo you may be in.

I've experienced the same thing, essentially if I'm not the one setting up the fight and the team isn't 100% on the ball with what is about to happen, I'm splitting.

Trusting anything up to anyone else leads to so many losses I stopped participating in anything "grouped" that isn't a sure thing.

Face to face 5v5 without tower? nope. 3v2 with other 3 opponents mia? nope. grouping in front of enemy tower mid for 3 minutes? nope. Baron without at least one enemy carry dead? nope.

Like you said, it can hinder you if you get to an elo where the dynamic has changed, I haven't gotten there yet.

haha yea pretty much the conclusion I came to. I think you learn overtime but most of the time people seem to want to group just to dive a turret or do something stupid. I have gotten a lot of free enemy turrets just from them 5 man fighting the rest of my team over something stupid that gets really drawn out.

Although far from perfect its nice to start getting closer to an elo where grouping to do something successful is starting to happen and people start punishing you more for making mistakes.

Really starting to get punished for not understanding certain champion power spikes and sucking at csing :(. Ugg just when I thought I was starting to know things.

Well its good you take objectives when that happens. Lost a game yesterday when my team did nothing as the opposing team came to bot lane over and over to gank and take two towers. They were a coordinated team and we were all solo. Still.......
