Are there any plans to update how ranked works?
Title. Currently ranking is based on one thing - whether you win or lose. This leads to very frustrating scenarios where you can carry your team (and individually outperform anyone on the enemy team) but still lose ranking based on your team's performance. Worse yet, there are games where disconnects occur and you're penalized for losing an imbalanced match. There are already so many different metrics that are shown in post game; KDA, total damage dealt/tanked/healing done, wards placed, minions farmed, objectives taken, etc... why isn't ranking based on any of these? Isn't a combination of all those stats a far better gauge of a player's actual performance than an arbitrary ranking based on whether they win or lose? Does a player who goes 0/10/2 (and underperforms in other aspects) in a game really deserve to be placed higher than his lane enemy who consistently made stellar plays throughout the match, even if it ended in their defeat?
I understand that LoL is a team-based game, so team performance will inadvertently decide the fate of a match, but in solo-queue the player has no control over who they will be matched with, which leads to the problems I've outlined above. I understand this would require a drastic change over how ranking is calculated, however in it's current state Ranked mode is just not enjoyable because elo acts more like a lottery than a competitive scene. Has this question been addressed by Riot in the past? Some answers would be appreciated.
