Why do so many people build crit on Yi when on hit is generally better

Yi has always been the low elo jg. The one everyone hates playing against. With the adc item changes, people are saying doom and gloom for Yi. I say more like doom and gloom for tryndamere. People forget that on hit does damage. I even played it just now to prove a point and I went 13/0 and got a pentakill. He also gets to build tank items with this build. What I'm currious about is why do so many people build crit on Yi when on hit is better.

I don't build crit yi. I preferr going Guinsoos, Bork etc. maybe grabbing an atks spd/crit item like phantom dancer. I rarely see crit yi in my games

Tryndamere is straight-up being buffed by the changes. He can have 70% crit with just IE, now.

With Yi, it depends on what's strongest at the time. On-hit is strong, yes, but having some crit can do the same job even better at times (Especially with PD's passive).

Its a play style thing

Crit yi is fantastic when you know you can delete the ADC and mid without to much trouble.

Generally speaking if their carries dont have self peel and they dont have a dedicated body gaurd i will go crit yi ( or if im snowballing because crit is expensive)

but if there is any chance that i can get relibly locked down i will go on hit because i need to sustain the fight because i have no choice but to
