Why the moment riot announces they will rework vlad everyone starts asking for nerfs and screaming their heads off that he is a brick wall?

Wasnt he unviable like 3 months ago?

Vlad gets hate predominately from people who have played against him when he was good.

I had to deal with release Vlad. It was hell. Never again.

Also, people hate losing to a champ they couldn't shut down early. A well played Vlad or playing poorly against Vlad make people very upset.

He's pretty bad right now, but I hate every time I have to lane against him. Similar reasons why I hate laning against Yorick. Neither are OP, but they're extremely annoying.

People who play him top are usually bad. He's great mid, not so great top. Top you give up the tp pressure, since vlad is pretty terrible at TP ganks, so you're pretty much forced to still go exh/ghost, at which point you either split push or stick with your team the entire game.

Mid you have pressure over the map, objective control, etc and its much, much safer to afk farm.

Also you get to go revolver->ionian->wota->abyssal, which is way better than getting zhonia's as your 2nd non-boot option.

I can't even see vlad being good in this meta.

He scales later into the game, which doesn't work with the shorter game length. And his long term sustain works better against tanky opponents who lack the damage to burst him early.

That's why you worry about damage, not sustain. Vlad's sustain isn't as core as people think. He wouldn't practically need WotA if this were the case.

He is pretty darn toxic. Endless harass, healing, ranged, fairly safe. Every time I play a mele versus him he is a HUGE annoyance. It's just the endless harass you can't do much about. Like old Mordekaiser...
