About thoughts on Ahri for assassin rework

This isn't about any need of nerfs or buffs (statistically not needed). It is more on if/what are thoughts on her about changes. Even if it is felt by that a champ doesn't need any buffs or changes that didn'tMalzahar stopVelkoz riot before.

When discussion of change for Ahri comes up there is always mention of her being a mage/assassin, capable of both but inferior to each specialty types and I think the desire for change is to properlly lean Ahri into one or the other of the 2 categories more. And quite frankly the current mage/assassin duality came from points that made her an assassin being nerfed or removed every time she pops up for being too good in mid lane and the remaining mage half simply being thrown in there because of Q.

I know an answer has already been given that Ahri isn't on the table for any changes, but I personally don't think that should be an absolute consideration. It is a topic that has repeatedly come up in the past probably even more frequently with the knowledge of the next big update being for assassins. I don't think that Ahri is in a similar "perfect" state for the community of mains compared to pre-mage-update vel or malz and though she doesn't have a need to be one of the big4 I think it would be unfair to not have her on the table for the minor tweak group during the assassin update. If riot does choose to do a DevCorner for the rest of the group being considered for the assassin update I hope that Ahri can be included there at least for a proper community team dialog at the time.

Actually I've always seen ahri as a jack of all trades kinda champ. She doesn't really counter anyone but is a safe reliable pick that provides good poke, cc, mobility and can be played more passively or aggressively depending on how you wanna play. All of her matchups are really skill based and i think thats great. I don't really think she needs any changes at all cause she does fit into several roles effectively yet not excelling at any. Honestly she's got one of my favorite kits for solo ranked because of the way she is. She's been my favorite since I started playing even.

she does counter melee champs mid and some artillery mages.

Pretty much any ranged mid will fuck up a melee one since they can just poke them out of lane. And I still believe her matchups really emphasis skill seeing as how ahri has a very skill shot oriented kit. If you get charmed and bursted by her it's cause you were out of position usually. The only argument you can make for that is when she ults right into your face which can be a bit annoying but can also be countered by a shield or flash/dash away or cc on her since she has to get close to fully utilize her w and ult.

thats the reason why i said it. its not uncommon now (melee mid). She tends to also punish divers or people who wants to get into her face. So you are right to say she is safe. As a kass main, i do beat her most of the time, but when i do meet those dedicated ahri one trick, shit is usually much harder.

True true, but she can really only punish divers and people in her face if she has her charm. If someone wanted to dive her I sure would hope they'd try and bait out her charm first before doing so. Her only option then would be to flash or use her ult as an escape, which is a very sad thing to do as an ahri player lol

For Ahri at least she could use some slice of life freshen ups, I guess if they consider sub'assassins, the '4th' Assassin that could be picked if they haven't revealed it yet could include Ahri. Since they already declared it to be an AP Assassin.

I would admit to maybe her passive needing to be a little more potent like either stronger scaling for the heal bonus or make it proc more often since 9 hits with a cap of 3 per spell tends to be highly restrictive on what it does have, even when you include multiple hit proc abilities. They could also touch up her kit by maybe making her have other measures like her spells deal partial true damage on charmed targets, not just the return from her Orb of deception Q ability or grant a way to include that in her W too, maybe a secondary passive which applies debuffs on targets to make them more vulnerable maybe since her kit revolves around multiple projectile hits?

She was amongst my first bought champions when i first started out on League of legends and this was especially way before Kindred or even Ekko ever came in and during those times i was more salty on matches where i was up against Zed in Middle lane, while likely during that time was even before Yasuo showed up too. Since especially i would remember i fought 'Yasuo' if i were to be first starting out on playing League of Legends.

So i know especially her kit has not seen many too changes at least when i first started playing her, sides maybe small tweaks and prods about. But nothing substantial enough to where one of her abilities would of got completely reworked.

I just hope whether she gets lucky enough to get a major rework or even just a simple minor fix up, she will at least get to have her identity and tool kit to perfectly match up and updated to the current style of League at the moment as a 'Temptress' sort of Assassin, with mobility to match up to other Assassins, be a little more fleshed out, such as her Q gaining more utility like how Ekko's version of Ahri's Q applies slow, his passive's way of 'bonus procing extra damage after a set number of stacks, slowing targets(which the Q already does too) and lets him gain bonus move speed to boot when its proc on a enemy champion, even if it does have a 'cool down period' for target procs' and has that annoying delay and expansion before it returns to Ekko to make it easier to poke hit or wave clear with it.

If the game of League of Legends is going to turn into champions having multiple passive effects whether thru abilities or the actual passive (Ekko, Yasuo, Poppy(rework), Kindred, Jhin, Taiylah, Aurelion Sol, Illaoi, Kled, Ryze(rework), Malzahar, etc.), then they really need to pick up the pace on updating a number of older champions so they have kits that match up to these new design gags so it doesn't continue to be due to superior cheese gimmicks or content differences that make 'fresher' champions able to be more viable because they have so many utilities or unique interactions with abilities that let them thrive better then older ones who simply have annoying kits period, like Mundo, Fiddlesticks, Skarner, Olaf, Galio, Tyrdnmer, etc. Not like some of those are completely useless, just that some of them only manage to work by having kits that make them annoying or ridiculous (like fiddlesticks will annoy the crap out of a 1vs1 and if your with minion waves or in a team fight he can crow bounce you constantly, but besides his cheese'it ultimate and zhonya's fkery, he doesn't have much else in the end sides that movement speed bonus he gets for not moving for a while.

Makes ya wonder what happen to a 'bar' in league of legends to decide when a champion is properly balanced to the point where it only needs to be changed up if it can exploit certain itemization builds.~

Ahri will probably not part of the Assassin-Update. As Riot Statikk answered, when asked about Ahri in the Assassin-Update: "Unlikely. We don't consider her a core Assassin and she already stands out pretty well from the pack." http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/EjFNREfn-assassin-roster-update-talon-direction?comment=00780000

So she most certainly won't be part of the "big 4" (I think Nr.4 will be Katarina); these updates are mostly about outdated/unhealthy Kits. If she gets any changes in the nearer future you should also expect it to be some sort of nerf. Her Solo-Q winrate ist constantly amongst the highest midlaners for quite some time now, so there is no way they are going to add any new form of mechanic, wether a debuff on W or more True-dmg without taking away ALOT of power elsewhere from her kit.

Personally, I would like it if at some point they do a bit work on Ahri though. Right now she has the problem that shes incredibly safe and versatile, which makes her super-strong in the chaotic uncoordinated Dynamic-Q but absolutely worthless in High-Elo (Master-Challenger-Pro). Take away something of her safety like the passive and/or Q-Movement speed and look to replace it with something else, that makes her more risky but also higher rewarding. But right now there are just so many champions that need work on them far far far more than Ahri, so I don't think we should complain. Her kit is maybe not perfect, but it's fine, distinctive from others, viable and fun to play. There are other Champions that have neither of this attributes and therefore should be prioritised before Ahri gets worked done on her.
