If they just made it so abilities against Champs added stacks as well everything would be fine.

18 NAKED COWB0YS2 votes

then certain champs would get more stacks early on leading to an unfair advantage in laning.

Concidering it's damage was nerfed by almost 50% and requires more stacks i don't think it is unfair

its damage needed to be nerfed by this much because the mastery was disgusting how overpowered it was.

112 on hit damage by lategame that was applied multiple times per second. ive actially seen that thing do 600 damage and upwards in death recaps. this isnt even taking item 3085 and the possibility to apply this damage to multiple opponents into account.

please try to explain to me how this is even close to fair, when thunderlords, grasp and dft add mabye 200 damage before resistances over the course of a fight.

whats more is, that changing the value from 112 damage to 60 ad isnt even a straight nerf. critical strikes with an i.e. turn that 60 auto attack damage into 150 that also trigger lifesteal. not to mention that the ad factors into ability damage, while the on hit damage did not.

the idea behind fervor is to give a mastery for physical sustained damage dealers, to ramp up their damage over the course of a fight.

the problem is, that if you allowed it to stack on abilities, the stacks per second off auto attacks would have to drastically be tuned down. otherwise there are champions who would get the stacks in an extremely short amount of time with short cooldown ability auto attack resets.

it would generally synergize with certain champions more compared to others, even than now.

Going from 6 stacks to 10 stacks and dealing half damage is already enough of a nerf, it both means that they have to take longer to stack it up and deal less damage. Removing the ability to stack with abilities was overkill. Voidburn13 is right that giving that back is the only change that is really needed.

it does not deal half the damage.

60 ad can crit. on hit damage can not. 60 ad benefit from lifesteal. on hit damage does not. 60 ad factors into champion abilities. on hit damage does not.

it was not just a straight 50% nerf.

it was an overall nerf, because it needed one, but it wasnt nearly nerfed as much as people think.

it needed one. the damage you could get off it was 3 times of what you could get from thunderlords or grasp. and thats not even factoring in auto attacks that hit multiple opponents.

thunderlord will add about 250 magic damage before resistances to a fight.

grasp will do about the same.

fervor lategame added 600 damage against a single target over a fight before its nerf.

that 600 dmg took many hits while grasp is more for laning and TANKS and thunderlords is for bursting in one rotation; completely awful arguement against the new shitty fervor that only yasuo benefits from before the 40min mark

it took less hits than you think.

remember that the old fervor maxed out at 6 stacks on abilities and auto attacks already. some champions managed to get the full amount of stacks almost instantaneous on a fight.

a twitch popping out of stealth with his ult and hitting 2 enemies with an auto attack or two with item 3085 was already enough.

there are a bunch of other examples, like Lucian who would literally just have to press q and w + auto attack with his passive to max it out in a matter of a second.

8 stacks, not 6. But yes, agree with you otherwise - old Fervor was busted.

If you are on hit you are right, it deal less than half since it now takes longer to stack up. If you are crit based it deals less damage early and mid game, and that life steal benefit means nothing if you are set behind for most of the game by having a weak mastery, and those champs you think naively will be waiting 5-10 AA's to have their abilities boosted by the damage will be killed before that could happen. So ya it is a straight over nerf to all of the users even the intended ones.

dedicated on hit champions are buffed by their itemization.

a stronger rageblade will allow them to build those stacks faster.

plus, its not a 60 damage nerf on on hit builds either, since most of those champions have ad scaling on hit damage built into their kits.

Kayle MasterYi Shyvana

for example all have ad scaling on-hit damage in their kits that the ad bonus factors into, softening that nerf. and yes, the lifesteal factoring into the new fervor does mean shit.

Shadow Hazard3 votes

You picked the dumbest examples. Both shyv and yi never built rageblade, and all 3 of your examples so a drop in win rate, 2 of them already in a poor state before the fervor change, yet you say these champs are buffed. You just simply made a better point of not knowing what you are talking about.

youre not reading what i said.

i didnt say these champions are being buffed. i said the ad factoring into their inbuilt on hit damage softened the nerf of the mastery for them. the damage didnt get straight up cut in half but more by about ~30%, while it now also applies lifesteal which is a factor for at least yi and kayle.

and rageblade being buffed opens up better itemization for dedicated on hit builds. of course theyre not going to build rageblade when it sucks. but they might itemize into it when on hit itemization is improved.

it didnt soften anything, rageblade is too expensive to be built anyways; also those on hit champions are dead

youre literally just whining right now without giving any reasons why buffing on hit itemization shouldnt work out better than buffing fervor.

they are champions who are using on-hit builds. the idea that generally buffing on-hit itemization wouldnt affect them in a positive way is nothing short of ignorant.

it did buff them in the past when feral flare was a strong on hit item. and the right item buffs, especially to rageblade which is supposed to be the "on-hit infinity edge" aka the core item for on-hit builds, will buff them again.

based on what? your personal opinion? the number is not as big as it used to be. but ad vs. on hit damage has its own benefits.

and season 6 fervor was ridiculous on top of that. i mean that shit was goddamn op compared to the other keystones, and so were champions who abused it.

the damage it granted was enough for bruiser assassins to still deal reliable damage on a full defensive build.

bruiser ekko, bruiser fiora, brusier yasuo, bruiser fizz were all running fervor for good reason. fervor was half responsible for bruiser assassins to be possible, because it added so much item independent damage to these champions that they could get away with building full on defensive builds.

thats why theyre buffing it by increasing the stack duration to make it easier to keep the stacks once youve built them.

but making the damage ramp up faster or worse, buffing the ad value would entirely overtune the mastery again.

Shadow Hazard4 votes

the ramp up time is already nerfed by needing more stacks, doubling down on the ramp up time by removing ability stacking pushed it too far. So no actually improving the ramp up time WONT overtune it after taking 3 nerfs, it is simply reverting one of the nerfs to give it back ability stacking.

Not really, if you'd just add ability stacking Fervor against champions, there would be ones that simply ramped up way too fast.

Maybe they could add the ability to get 2 stacks with an ability on a 5 second cooldown or so - allowing you to get a little headway with abilities, but not making it overwhelming.

maybe you should get less stacks from abilities, but yes it is really bad on ranged

Critmaster Garen4 votes

fervor is a decently strong mastery. 60 ad is a lot, and can be situationally better than the 112 on hit damage. especially on champions with critical strike and lifesteal.

they increased the number of stacks it takes to max it out, to make adc damage ramp up sightly slower compared to previous season. fact is that the mastery was way too strong and needed a nerf compared to last season.

increasing the duration of the stacks to 5 seconds makes it less likely to lose them when you have to switch targets, so its definitiley a buff without overtuning the goddamn thing again.

imo, they should actually do something like increase the amount of stacks further, up to 20 stacks for the 60 ad, and make the stacks fall off slower, one at a time instead of all of them. maybe that will decrease the initial damage marksmen deal in teamfights, while making it more reliable to stack overall.

Keti4 votes

Without ability stacking and it capping at 10 stacks, a ranged champ legitimately has to auto attack champions 10 times (Pretty much the whole teamfight) before the mastery is stacked, where prior it was less stacks and abilities got it stacked faster. It's already very weak on adcs due to the stacking being so slow, Even on kindred, easily the best user of old fervor with the mastery basically carrying their late game damage and single handedly making them viable, often prefers thunderlords now. Not because thunderlords is very good, but simply because yes, fervor is actually that bad now. By the time you get even close to 10 autos in, the teamfight is usually over, and this is on top of the fact that the damage is gimped substantially for on hit ranged who liked hurricane (Kayle, Teemo, Kindred etc) who were not currently overpowered. Right now I think fervor is only good on renekton because his W remains an abuse case for fervor and he likes the AD it offers.

Suggesting raising the stack count to 20 doesn't even seem like a reasonable suggestion. not even melee champions could fully stack that and the reward would have to be substantially greater than 60 ad.

Marshbouy4 votes

Actually not that terrible. Makes switching targets during a teamfight less risky.

What would you rather have them do? Add another 30 damage so people can scream more about damage creep?

khorney4 votes

revert the change, this new fervor is a nerf and i liked to build on hit damage....... now i do not have a keystone to use

Regardless of whether the new fervor that takes 10 attacks and a bunch of scaling items to be useful is more healthy design for the mastery it doesn't perform anywhere near the level of warlords. Unless the plan is to nerf ad carries as a whole by bringing down warlords as well we're going to need more substantial buffs than a 1s increase to a total of 5s stack duration.

I think the whole AD bonus instead of on hit damage is a mistake simply because it has anti synergy with the champs and items it's supposed to be good on. You'd think it would be good with Kalista but it's 10% less effective due to her 90% scaling autos. You'd think it would be good with hurricane but it has 25% effectiveness on the side bolts. You'd think it would be good with AS bork builds but it does fuck all for damage until you're critting like a madman.

tldr fervor a shit.

the on hit damage was too strong on ad carries by midgame and made bruiser assassins even possible. there were too many abuse cases with the old version of the mastery next to it being straight up overpowered.

the problem isnt the current fervor. its on-hit champions themselves being too weak, or their itemization lacking. and their items are being worked on.
