if you need engage. Not that top, jungle, and support shouldn't try to pick for their team, but it's not just those three roles that pick for their team.

Why is it even left for the last pick? These things are supposed to be worked out before hand. That's why you declare a champ. Expecting the last pick to pick a character that may not work for his or her lane just because it's a tank is foolish. Sorry buddy. You're going to get bodied by the other top laner. But we need a tank. Ask yourself. Why did we not work out a sensible team comp before hand instead of relying on the last pick who may or many not be comfortable even playing any of the tanks appropriate for him to choose.

There was no need to yell this at everyone, because team picking is something everyone should know anyway, and typing in caps usually leads to less actual meat in the argument (bc holding shift) and just more screaming which nobody likes.
Nobody should lock in until you have a good team, which kind of undermines your whole statement and would solve many of our problems on the Rift.
Typically jungle starts an engage, and picking a jungler is incredibly simple as there aren't too many champions that really work well (much less that you own typically) and support generally follows the logic of "Does this champion protect/help my ADC significantly".
That really only leaves top, mid, and ADC. At that point, you need to get your team together by communicating and NOT locking in. So really your whole problem could be fixed with just not locking in. No one has to play a certain position if they don't want to play, so forcing the last pick to play a certain position is bad for your team, especially if that player doesn't play much of that role.

making it impossible to fight or stay near minions, missing cs and gold, missing items to actually be tanky, and having 4000 gold worth of armor removed when it finally can be bought.
