once i answered someone on who some hypercarries are and someone replied that i'm confusing them with late game champions. some that come hypercarries that come to mind are Jinx Fiora Irelia Jax Tristana Twitch Olaf Vayne Veigar . there were some others i mentioned that i guess made that guys say that like Yasuo Tryndamere Gangplank MasterYi. they all suck early scale late but whats the major difference between the 2 groups

Hypercarry just means they scale especially well late game. Kog'maw is another example and that little guy because glass Kamehameha later. But like you said, these guys tend to be helpless early on.

In fact, while Yas and Yi can be carries, they can at least hold their own if played competently, where as someone like Jax would rather farm and level up before trying to pick a fight.

It's funny, because I find it the exact opposite for a lot of fights with Yi and Jax at least. Jax is a lot stronger early than Yi in my opinion because he has defensive steroids and crowd control, while Yi strictly relies on basic attacks and his Q for damage without having any other utility besides his W, which is meh at best in a fight.

When a hypercarry wins it feels like they're the only one doing anything. When a Twitch is full build, the rest of his team basically just stands around drooling while Twitch waits for the enemy to engage so he can Pentakill.

A hypercarry is a late game carry but more so.

There are only two hypercarries from your first list. Twitch and Vayne. Olaf isn't even really particularly good late game.

olaf is here because everyone says jax is a hypercarry and olaf can outduel a late game jax. also jinx, kog, and tristana were also considered hypercarries. also veigar scales indefinitely so thats why he's there.

There have been a lot of hyper carries that have lost their hyper carry status. Olaf, Jax, Nasus, Irelia, in short every single Diver and Juggernaut are no longer hyper carries. Only certain Marksmen and Mages are hyper carries because they can deliver massive damage from a range. Also their kit enhances into late game, like Twitch ulting an entire team or Viegar with infinite stacks. Skirmishers like Tryndamere, Yi, and Fiora are hyper carries in a sense that they will out split push and are able to 1v2 or even 1v3 if done right. But they can not team fight.

Id say hypercarry is someone that scales really hard with items, usually dps champs. Out of your list, I'd say Vayne, Twitch, Tristana, and Master Yi would go into that category. Not sure where I would put Yasuo, he can definetely carry , but he is a lot more teamcomp oriented to fully function in tf. Jax and Fiora are great duelists, but I think they are more of just strong lategame champs/ splitpushers than hypercarries, especially, since they struggle to be useful in teamfights.

A regular late game champion is someone who scales well into late but doesn't necessarily scale super hard to carry the team. A hypercarry is a champion who carries harder late game than regular late game champions (like vayne, tristana). A regular late game champion would be like poppy, vlad, shyvana, amumu, etc.

Honestly see a hyper carry as an imbalance to the game because it sucks the fun out of it and promotes bad strategy. 2017 Worlds confirmed this when the winning team comps were all based around protecting the Twitch or Kog'maw. I just find the concept itself with the ability to "1v5 and win" horrible.

No champion in League can 1v5. This isn't Dota, and pre-rework Poppy is long dead.

Reason I put it in "1v5 and win" in quotation marks. The only champion who comes close to being able to 1v5 is Twitch by catching an enemy team with their pants down. Even he can't do it but damn well is close, or even feels like it. Though I should have added an end sarcasm or something, sorry about that.

Prerework Poppy is so overrated. She couldn't even 1v1 that well to be honest. Her passive was pretty good against burst, her ult damage amp was ok, but she still lost to Nasus, Jax, Irelia, Yi, Darius and others. Yes she could kinda go for the carry unpunished, if he was quite squishy, but that's pretty much it.

You're right. Her ability to duel was decent, but not incredibly spectacular (she shit all over Darius' breakfast late game though, who the fuck are you kidding?).

She could, however, 1v5 better than any of those champions, even if they were on the opposing team. And if one of those champions brought a friend to kill the Poppy, then she would have ulted the weaker person and had a solid shot at killing one of the duelists sent to stop her.

Eh idk, Darius's bleed and true damage ult countered her passive super hard. I guess her Q did %max hp magic dmg or sthg but I don't think it was enough. Maybe old darius she beat late, current darius probably not.

Poppy by virtue of build alone did far more damage than current Darius could dream of, and she could avoid his outer Q (forcing him to waste time and effort applying a bleed stack) with her E, while possibly stunning him. I frankly doubt she would have much trouble with Darius at all tbh. She'd kill him to quickly while drain-tanking him to be in lifesteal range.

Yeeaaaah, well there's sunfire + thornmail + bleed with BC melting through her health bar though. Maybe not enough at 6 items, idk. But he's likely to crush her earlymidgame.

Oh sure, if it wasn't clear I was always arguing in favor of six-slotted vs. six-slotted. Poppy wasn't worth shit before then.

So how do you feel about Riot turning League's hardest melee carry into a fucking tank?

I'm sad, but less than when they took away my AD crit Sion QQ

actually vayne is infamous for it. any champion can 1v5 if fed. like i remeber one time as tryndamere i got a 1v4 but the penta was on the other side of thr map. same with pre rework mf. same for dota but its mostly their hypercarries and meepo. also theres a game where a famous player played an unranked game and got a 1v5 rampage and he also got 92 KILLS on tinker and he's not really a hypercarry. the point is ive seen some cazy shit in lol and dota.

Vayne can not 1v5 under anythingt resembling normal conditions against similarly skilled players.

There are dota heroes that can, like Medusa.

thats how i got a 90 minute game with an enemy vayne as tryndamere. we eventually broke through and won and we had more objectives the whole time.

A Late Game Champion is any champion that scales incredibly well into the late game, despite it's weaker early and mid. A Tristana, for example, is like that. She scales really hard with her items, rather than with levels (most non-late game champions are more concerned with levels than items for the most part).

A Hyper Carry is a Late Game Champion by definition. They scale extremely hard with their items. However, they also scale with levels due to the Steroids in their kits. This usually means that, given the same build, they will outscale a Late Game Champion.

For example, while a Tristana is a scary Late Game Champion with her bonus AS and long range, Master Yi is a Hyper Carry with his bonus Mov Speed, bonus Attack Speed, bonus AD, bonus On-Hit True Damage and bonus half attack.
